Just picked one up at Costco today cause I'm coming a whole chicken tomorrow. Glad to hear that I picked a good show cooker, cause honestly, it was just the only one the store had.
Good review Mike. Instead of having a high, low and keep warm setting, they should just have a temp up and down setting similar to the sous vide settings so you can dial in your own desired temps instead of pre-sets.
That’s an interesting thought, brother. I suppose I could even try to use the other settings and see if it had any sensors that would prohibit that. Thank you for watching and supporting me!
My daughter got me one of these for christmas. At first I was thinking why do I need another croc pot that takes up so much space. Then I saw the proof feature......this has changed my whole bread making process. mix your dough, proof for 30 minutes, punch down, proof another 30 minutes, then bake for 30 and you have amazing bread in 2 hours. For me it was worth it just for the proof feature. Now Sous Vide....hmm I have to try that.....
@@user-mz8dp6ww4t hit the button until the selector is on proof, it defaults to 95 degrees, I change it to 105, I put the dough in on parchment and cover it with a damp towel, then let it proof for 30-45 minutes. After that I punch it down and put it in a baking dish, I put the baking dish in the ninga, and put a damp towel on top, then run the proof mode again for 30-45 minutes. Once it is done I move it to the oven and bake 30 minutes at 350.....perfect every time. You can bake in the ninja but I do not feel like the temperature control is good enough for that, so I bake in the oven.

Mike I love all of your review videos for the simple reason I know I’m going to get the most honest, accurate review of anyone out there. I have a few ninja products and I absolutely love them very well built and they do what I need them to do. Cheers and all the best
Nice review Mike! I’ve had a Kitchen Aid slow cooker for about 10 years now and it’s been great but was like $250 10 years ago!? This Ninja for the 8 qt capacity and the ability to sauté and sear etc for $138 (Amazon) is one heck of a deal! I love making large batches of TX style chili so I gave this a go and ordered it after watching your review. It seems like it could be a “one pot” cooker with the sauté function first or searing meat first. Happy New Year to you!
I love the keep warm setting!!! The low setting gets hot 🔥 in my experience. But what you reminded me about was the sous vide function (thank you very much!!!) I was about to use my Ninja Foodi pressure cooker pro to sous vide a porterhouse steak and came across your video! I hadn't used that function, and now I certainly will!!! Much appreciated.
I've been using the proofing function to great effect in my breadmaking efforts. If you're proofing in a pan, drop a paper towel in the bottom and then add a bit of water to it - that way there's padding between the pan and non-stick surface, and the surface of your bread dough doesn't dry out.
Had the same issue. My huge old standby favorite kitchenaid crockpot finally gave up the ghost and I tried several crocks and none of them measured up. My hubby felt sorry for me and surprised me with this beast. I’m loving it. Best kitchen addition I’ve had a in a long time. I agree about the sear temperature too. It’s not quite high enough but gets the job done. ❤
Hi thanks for the informative video…. I am considering purchasing this but have read several review comments on various retail sites (UK) from people saying that the slow cooker setting on low is too low and high is too fierce…. I primarily want to use it as a slow cooker so don’t know if it’s going to fit the bill or not! Interesting what you said about the low setting slow cooker taking longer… backs up what I read on website re reviews…. Shame the cooker does not have a slow cooker medium programme.

Hi Mike. I’ve just stumbled across this video. Great review. I’ve had my possible cooker for 6 months now and a few revelations to add to your list. 1. The Keep Warm setting is awesome for resting meat. I can rest a large hunk of beef or venison for 2 hours and it is warm enough to rest but not continue the cooking. You can cook the beef rare, then rest for 2 hours, then it is super tender, juicy and tasty. 2. This is the best yogurt maker I have ever had. Let me know if you want the recipes. 3. The bread proving function is great but limited to 4 hours so I have to put it on twice. But hey, my airing cupboard doesn’t smell of yeast anymore. 4. The sear works better if you pre heat for 10 minutes with just a little olive oil.
You’re welcome. Top recipe tip. I made 12 hour beef cheek Ragu overnight last week. The depth of flavour blew me away. The more I use this gadget and push the envelope of my culinary skills, the more I get to appreciate how good it is. Last tip. If you’re cooking overnight, leave a tea towel over the lid to restrict the steam escaping from the lid vent, so it keeps more moisture in a bit like a tagine. Finally, I’m just binge watching your past videos and loving your content. Objective, candid, honest and really informative. Thanks man 😊
Hi happy I found your video! I do have a question. If I'm using as a slow cooker and program the time for 4 hours, does it switch to keep warm automatically or will it just turn off? I can't find if this is programmable like that or not. Please let me know. Thank you!!

What temp is the low setting? That seems to be the sticking point for me on this $89 Costco purchase. I mainly want a good slow cooker but there aren't a lot out there that have the options I want, temp/time wise.
I have not measured the temp at low/high settings, but I’d say they are exactly that (low/high) and I’m not trying to be a smart a$$. Both are safe temps, the low setting is just lower than some other slow cookers. I still use this cooker to date. We love it.
