Someone noticed that the Green Knight model that GW used for for their 40 years of Warhammer has a bigger base than normal, so that could be a hint that it was rebased for Old World and will be available again.
Really liked that you showed the kits in pictures as somebody who collected Britonnians back in the 90s. its neat seeing the stuff in the 2000's i missed.
I would love it if they re-released the Dogs of War models (even if my bank balance would not!). The difficulty I suppose is that the models featured in the 5th ed book are implied to be present during the 2500s which is 300 years after The Old World will be set. Lumpin Croop for example famously fought against Marius Leitdorf during the I'll fated Moot revolution. Though the whole army was somewhat anachronistic given you could take Leonardo di Mirragliano in your army, who invented the Steam Tank in 2012 yet seemingly could feature in the same army as Lumpin Croop. But, on the other hand, we are talking a setting with magic rings, potions, and all manner of weird shenanigans.
Awesome video! Loved the touch of showing the kits. Agreed those metal longbeards would be soooooo ace! I also didn’t recall the unreleased dwarf lord so that was awesome to see.
Thank you! I've set myself the goal of proving you can do well as a Warhammer RUclipsr without claiming Games Workshop is about to collapse into the sea every five minutes! @@90percentgeek 😂 I could have written that myself, I can’t stand the need for constant negativity, hobbies should be happy places. I feel I may get a little too excited in my videos too.
My hope is that everything that was released for 7th and then 8th in plastics or otherwise, is re-released. I imagine that since they're trying to keep it to 9 factions, and thus take a bit more of a conservative approach, any new models we see are likely going to be characters. Hopefully that doesn't stop them from updating some kits that really need updates (all of the High Elf core unit plastic kits).
Some additions for Tomb Kings: The Necrosphinx was shown during Warhammer Fest when it came to models being rereleased, so that one can be considered a given. The Tomb Guard and Snakeriders were plastic, so they should be back too. What I hope for and actually expect is a plastic Ushabti kit in plastic: combining all previous weapon options, while possibly expanding into another unit type. Think of what they did with Kroxigors in AoS just recently (new heads and weapons -> new unit), this template would make a lot of sense for Ushabti.
I prefer the original multi part plastic dwarf warriors to those more modern ones, which they released at the end of 6th with the new bad army book. Anyway, very happy to see some models of the 5th to 6th ed era coming back, nothing beats that era of GW sculpts! Those metal 1999 Longbeards are probably my all time favourite GW unit, such great sculpts! I'm currently slowly collecting a Dwarf army of that era, so far I only have 5 of those Longbeards (full command), would love to have them even for a made to order definitely.
Oooft! I wish!!! There is always the chance they will do a new resin or plastic one, but I don't expect they will re-release the original metal one. That being said, there are other 3rd party alternatives out there which look pretty good.
The plastic dragon kit was in aos for a good amount of time before cities of sigmar was released. I think we will definitely see it in the old world. Loved the video btw.
Was it? I must have forgotten that, it was quite some time ago. It's a lovely kit so I really hope it does come back. I have an elf lord on one of the old style serpent dragons, but would like one of the "on the wing" dragons too.
@@90percentgeek yes they are amazing models I think it was 2019 when they were removed from aos. I can't wait to see all of these old kits retuning there are just so many I can't wait to get my hands on again!
This is actually set right at the end of the Mordheim era, so they could absolutely re-release the rules for it (though nothing to stop you playing it now if you have a pdf of the rules). As I mentioned in my Mordheim video, The Old World is set in the years immediately before the Great War Against Chaos and the Seige of Praag and the rise of Magnus the Pious. One of the things Magnus did on the way home from the Seige was use his armies artillery to level Mordheim and bring a sort of close to the chapter of the city of the damned. They could absolutely do a Last Days of Mordheim book though, complete with adventurers trying to get those last shards of wyrdstone or treasure before the city is destroyed, or cultists trying one last act to free their Dark Master before the city is destroyed!
@@90percentgeek I think Mordheim is a game that has been taken care so nciely by the fans.. Sure, it could be improved.. but that is something that risk being.. less good too. I am a little scared of it actually. I really enjoy it as is.. But the models, bring them back! :D
The knightly orders box set was badly in need of updating. The riders lacked stirrups, the horses were a bit small even back in the day and the contents of the box were spread too thin to adequately represent most of the well known regiments. In many ways they were a step backwards from the old metal cavalry that they replaced and I felt that The Empire lost a little bit of it's character as a result, so hopefully they'll bring out a new knightly order set that's more up to recent standards.
Was a bit sad seeing the announcement, as my plan for Warhammer currently is Skaven followed by the Undead! I was hoping we might see the Von Carsteins rereleased, but I guess I’ll go back to hoping for a Made to Order...
I guess my hope that they would re-release some of the Skaven minis from the late 80s and 90s for this Old World malarkey have been quashed! What do you mean that was never going to happen anyway? My copy of Advanced HeroQuest, that is light on period appropriate Skaven minis, says nonsense!
I mean, I am still holding out hope that this might herald the occasional made to order of older lead minis... But yeah, you may have to continue scouring the internet for them. From the looks of things, Mike from my Tale of Four Gamers may have most of the period appropriate clan rats that you were looking for!!!
Dwarf and Wood Elf (and High Elf) had some very good models back in the day (strokes long beard in reverie as old images flash like fish in front of my eyes). I was never a fan of the shield bearers tbh. Felt it was too much of a homage to A&O and not Warhammer and grim and dark enough, too cartoony. The Special Character models tbh would be the ones I'd most look forward to getting again esp. all the old Dwarf Characters (Bugman, Runelord, Slayer etc). And as you rightly say some of the specialist models eg wardancers were very good as well. It's as you say, GW is being aware players will grab these minis if made available. With that said the old new sculp would be good to see too. The main thing is the OW aesthetic and art design returns either with old or new minis.
I'm choosing to view it as "Yay, now I can get all the models I need without having to pay eBay prices or worrying about missing out on a kit on auction." But yeah... I do expect to suddenly have a moment of "I can get all those kits I wanted for ages" and next thing you know I have two new armies to paint!
I am a bit dissapointed. While I love the plastic wood elf boxes. Was really hoping for more dynamic plastic wardancers and plastic hawk riders (not a huge fan of the old rider models, hawks are fine). Interestingly I can't find a clear reference to the year Bugmans Brewery was destroyed, so I can't say for definite when he was born or if he was active at this point. It would be very cool to see him though!
I suppose they have the advantage that almost all if not all of their models were preserved, and that they will be getting rules on release, even if they don't form a part of the narrative for the first few books.
Because they haven't released an official list of what kits are coming back yet, but they have made a number of comments that allow for deductions. I agree there is a bit of wishlisting here, it's probably only my fond imagination that we might get those longbeards even on a made to order basis, but the rest I would say is a real list based on deductive reasoning.
It is common for people to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. An example is the Old World. The same rakes that killed the old fantasy. 1. Tons of alternatives to overpriced GW miniatures: historical medieval knights, ledsknechts, generic elves and gnomes - from third party firms. Pirates resin recasters. 3D printing. 2. Toxic fantasy community: trolls, elites, grognards, gatekeepers. Everything is in place and waiting for fresh people to show them how "sweet" life is in fantasy. Who swore never to buy anything from GW again? + Waiting for Total War fans rush to buy the tabletop game? Don't be ridiculous: the tiktok generation will never buy a single miniature, they are not capable of manual labor. SEGA, by the way, doesn't wish TW players to leave their video game for a tabletop game. 3. The same non-original setting - just a map of the Earth with a donut full of elves. All fantasy writers do this, at least one in two. Clear your eyes of nostalgia and accept reality.
To be fair, it's not just The Old World I'm nostalgic about, I'm nostalgic about all sorts of old GW games, video games and TV shows. I'm re-watching the West Wing again at the moment and go paraphrase President Bartlett I make these videos for everyone, not just those who agree with me. Thanks for engaging! 😊
Bad news. Embarrassing. Old bad models .... be it poor orc chariots or bad dwarf warriors. How about brand new GOOD plastics that will attract new players. Please. New High Elf warriors and Archers.
I mean... If you want new high elf warriors, might I direct your attention towards the Lumineth which are basically new High Elf models. I'm not convinced this game is aimed at attracting new players, or at least not new to Warhammer as a whole. I feel like this game is aimed at filling that niche that those of us who took to playing older editions and trawling eBay were filling. Hopefully it will attract people who have joined the hobby since The End Times and and might have missed out on playing square bases.
I was leaving the hobby when those Boar Boyz popped in iirc.. So never got any.. I will pick them up if they come back. As much as I like the 5th Ed Brian nelson ones, i want these too.. Never really liked the Wolf Riders from 6th Ed but i will pick some up if they come back, and fix them up somehow. I don´t mind these "old" models really, it gives the nostalgia feel and it is Warhammer to me.. New, CAD-stuff from AOS would not do that for me.. And i need.. NEED quite a few boxes of the orc Warriors regoment box.. Got rid of all and have managed to scrape together 25 with spears & shields now plus 20 with two choppaz (many of them are 40k Orks with soem fantasy arms..) I would buy quite a few boxes to get bigegr and more mobs.. Choppa & shields too.. They are my fav models really..

Interestingly I can't find a clear reference to the year Bugmans Brewery was destroyed, so I can't say for definite when he was born or if he was active at this point. It would be very cool to see him though!
I’m glad the high elves, wood elves, dwarves, and bretonnia knights are coming back. I want the Skaven and dark elves though.
I suppose they have the advantage that almost all if not all of their models were preserved, and that they will be getting rules on release, even if they don't form a part of the narrative for the first few books.
Why is this more just like a "wish"-list then reality ?
Got rid of all and have managed to scrape together 25 with spears & shields now plus 20 with two choppaz (many of them are 40k Orks with soem fantasy arms..)
I would buy quite a few boxes to get bigegr and more mobs.. Choppa & shields too.. They are my fav models really..
