as somebody with a hacked original-model 3DS I can say that Mario Kart: Super Circuit and Pokémon FireRed Rom Hacks work perfectly using the 3DS's built-in GBA emulator.
It's really a shame that the Wii U Virtual Console never got games from the Sega Genesis, Master System or Neo Geo.
The 3DS VC got The Mysterious Caatle of Murasame, which hasn't been re-released on NSO.
i absolutely loved the VC i spent hundreds of dollars buying games on the WII VC... but when i figured out how easy it was to hack a wii, and put every single NES, GB/GBA, and SNES game ever made on my hacked wii, i kinda felt dumb for spending those hundreds of dollars. Also i think thats another reason we will never see VC ever again, because pirates.. and also people will pay money monthly to be able to play while Nintendo releases less games.
YES, modding a wii is the best thing I've ever done. That's how I play a lot of my gamecube games nowadays because its much more seamless that way
@@BoringBrandon1 i forgot to mention Gamecube GC actually has a 100% emulation rate, every GC game is playable on a modded wii, but the n64 with games like Banjo Tooie, Dk64, Yoshi Story and others wont work right, which i find interesting
@@BoringBrandon1 some games for the n64 are still hard to mod to this day on wii hardware
@@chrisbeach423 yep I've had the same issues with N64 emulation on there, the audio and framerate usually takes a big hit
I was actually thinking about the virtual console last night as I played it more than I've used switch online because I could buy games vs just having access to them. Keeping in mind I have most of the games I care about on origi al hardware as well from when they came out... Guess that makes me old, oh well.

Nintendo has *gotta* revive Virtual Console onto the Switch
never gonna happen, because people will pay monthly for NSO. they also get to release less games while making more money. so yea never everrrrrr gonna happen

I did manage to get all the game gear games on the 3ds virtual console before the eshop shut down and some nes snes game boy and game boy color
There actually was ONE downloadable DS game for the Nintendo 3DS: WarioWare Touched.
Totally forgot about this and also Advance Wars Days of Ruin was a Club Nintendo reward too.
It had Nintendo syndrome, and that's why it died
Many people hated it and complained about it while it was around, saying it was the worst thing ever
Then new thing comes to replace old thing, they hate new thing, praise old thing, forget all the things they hated about old thing, but now old thing has been fully disregarded by Nintendo, and it's too late to save old thing
The current switch virtual console should be considered a federal crime compared to the wii and wii u's.
Virtual console was great. You could get RECCA for $10 instead of $100+. Sure $10 may sound overpriced for a NES game, but it's the best NES game. Unless you don't like hard games. Actually if you are really, really good at SHMUPS you could beat it in well under an hour, but that's true for most good SHMUPS anyway.
I actually watched this one yesterday but didn't think about this til now. I love the Wii u and the virtual console on it.
Is it just me or are all the games really dark, like they have a filter? I swear they're darker than original hardware and also Switch online 🤔
I specifically mean the wii u VC games, my 2ds doesn't have that issue
Yes! Many of the N64 games on the Wii U virtual console had a dark filter on them
@@BoringBrandon1 yeah the n64, but I mean all of them. My Dr Mario is dark as hell compared to the original hardware
