What moves me amongst the totality of the tune are the 3rd, 4th and 5th choruses when Robin's voice (along with Barry's) is palpable as he echoes the climatic emotional apex of the composition with the line, "Beyond the sun..." This staggered repetition of a portion of a song's chorus late in the recording is something the Gibbs have used to great effect as an emotional intensifier in many songs throughout their history. The beautiful ballad from 1975's Main Course, "Country Lanes," comes readily to mind. This technique works essentially as a "supercharger" to boost the emotional impact of the composition from an already elevated level to the stratospheric -- nearly spiritual -- realm. While not exclusive to the Gibbs, nobody does it with more judicious timing and perfection of execution than do Barry, Robin and Maurice. Listen again for this brilliant bit of polish -- all in the service of emotional conveyance -- atop an already gleaming gem!
Thanks one of my favorites. Mo is always been my favorite BeeGee. The man in the middle so talented. Miss U Mo Robin & Andy. Fly high always playing in the clouds. Thank U for the good tunes 💜
Loving our Mo!! Definitely a Mo song!! Mo was madly in love with Yvonne. Makes me think he wrote lyrics with her in his heart. Plus this was after his recovery. Love this!!
Maurice shines!! Such a sexy song, no doubt !! The stomp is incredible. This whole cd is fantastic, great selections, all winners. Thanks for taking us back in the time machine. Bee Gees are the best, and you are, too.
Why this wasn't a single I'll never know. Hook after hook after hook after hook... Lovely to see you exploring their work fella. They truly were a great band.
Mo is THE MAN😍 I love hearing him sing but especially lyrics like "Let me be the one to taste you" or "Look at how much I drip"...SO HOOOTTT!!!🔥🌡️🌋 Let's not forget that sense of humor which I find sexy too! When women of the silver screen are referred to as timeless beauties I think Maurice falls in the endlessly sexy category!
@@simply_me_1438 - I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT! (Said with my Southern accent, hip stuck out, a head snap and all my 64 years of age! 🤣) BTW, notice my avatar?
Mo had a amazing voice, if I could suggest a good album to listen too would be a solo album by Robin Gibb, only he wasn't solo. Maurice did vocals, wrote and help produce this album "How old are you" from 1983. I love Barry but it shows how talented the twins were in their own right. Also shows how Mo much preferred to be in the background. He had such a smooth voice
Suzie Q, totally agree with you both. Sorry I'm late to the party but I'm working Saturday and Sunday and I'm probably going to be playing catchup the entire weekend.
I really like this song! Never heard it before! Sure would have wished that Maurice could have had more leads on songs. Just discovering how pretty his voice was!
The same thing stopped Mo from getting songs on their CDs that sent some great songs by Robin to the purgatory of bonus tracks. Outright rejection would have been better than ‘bonus track’ because the songs could have been used elsewhere.
Thanks for reacting to this great song! This is a super album and it shows their versatility and ability in changing with the times. Once again, their lyrics outshine the norm.
The whole 'Size' album was superb! Not to understand, why It's been only kinda fansuccess. A must to be acknowledged as part of modern history of music!
Everything you said and a box of chocolates! I’ve never heard that song. Gotta buy that album. I’ll say this...I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it! The 90s are hard for me to describe but it almost had a little crossover 80s and some 70s feel to me as well. Winner, winner, chicken dinner! ❤️
I am new to your channel. And the only reason why I found you is because I love to watch anybody react to the Bee Gees. I got to see them in 1978 and it was the greatest day of my life. I’m so glad that you love them the way I do they are just unbelievable singers and songwriters I miss Maurice and Robin very very much I was also a huge fan of Andy. Love your channel God bless you.
I've caught myself smiling every time I watch you listen. That's what makes looking at your reactions really special. I love this song. Great selection and super nice reaction. Thank you Chad.
How amazing is it that there is an iconic stamp in songs (falsetto, etc) that identifies itself as a Bee Gee song. When they started out, one of their first hits was New York Mine Disaster. DJ's played it over and over in the US for months thinking it was a Beatle Song. I heard Maurice sing a song (The First of May) with his first wife LULU and wow just blown away. I think it was called An Audience with LULU 2000/200. Chad, you are a favorite to watch!
What a great song to start with 😀 this always makes me want to smile. The Brothers Gibb, what better choice could you make for an evening. Hmmm, none, at least not in my book.
Hope you had a good time away. Isn't this fun? They do write genius lyrics. Love how upbeat this is. Mo's voice - okay I am crushing... You know something else I love is the way Barry does an absolute perfect octave above Mo in much of this. He is so in tune, you barely notice what is happening.
And the weekend has begun! What a perfect start with our precious Mo kicking it off with this absolutely amazing upbeat song of his. Sorry I'm late chirping, oops, I mean chiming in, but I fell asleep on my notifications waiting for just this, another great reaction by you, Chad!
I listen to your Bee Gees playlist while working. I’ve made it through 73 of 193 videos. I have to pause when I get a phone call, thinking hurry up I need to get back 😆
In portuguese, we have one word, but this word don't have in other language... "Saudade"... in english it means "I miss you". "Saudades, Maurice Ernest Gibb and Robin Hugh Gibb, Rip." Thanks Chad!
Wow!!!! Anything that has me bopping on my own around my lounge at 2.15am is a hands down hit. Definitely '90s but I could hear a 60's vibe in the chorus. I don't know if you've ever heard of the euro vision song contest in the States- basically every country in Europe performs an original song and then the vote comes in from all countries taking part. The UK did really well over the years, in fact Maurice's first wife Lulu took part and won in early 60s with a song called boom bang a bang. We haven't done well at all in recent years, but this song could have won it, easy. I often wonder why established artists from UK don't enter with original songs.....we might get more than nil points then. This song has everything going for it as far as eurovision goes. I loved it Thanks again Chad for intuitive reaction.
Hadn't Mo just turned his life around during this period?? The writing and songs on this album are such a step up in so many ways! Maurice also sounds exhilaratingly free with his vocals. This whole album imho was stellar in so many ways! It's my personal favorite!
He stopped drinking I think in or around 93. Andy’s death hit him hard & it took him a little over the edge drinking but he got help thru AA & made lots of friends there & went to meetings religiously. I think he was even a sponsor to others after a few years sober. I loved his sense of humor, they all really had good sense of humor but Mo was the cut-up on stage, so funny. Robin loved off color jokes but hey i used to too, not anymore since I got saved, Jesus don’t like those kind of jokes. 😊
I hope you had a good rest because you know all us chippers out here in 3L land aren't going to let you off on our Bee Gees weekend. All I can say about MO is he's all that and a bag of chips. My favorite is still Robin. I really think if it were just the twins as a group they would have blown everyone out of the water with their talents.
Forever I've heard this song in the background everywhere, but had no idea it was a Bee Gees song. You keep on teaching us more and more about our favorite group. Thank you Chad! You are appreciated!
WELCOME BACK CHAD! Thank you for this reaction, came at a PERFECT time! So UPLIFTING! Thank you so much for reacting to one of my requests and starting it off with my Maurice!🤗🥰
Love this song, such a good beat. They are one of the best groups. Funny, I was just "talking" about you, then I see your notification. Another reactor had critiqued Andy Williams, and the fact that he hadn't been reacted to, so I 'Wrote" back and told him that you, Chad L. Summers, was the only one I had ever heard praise Andy's amazing talent. Remember that? It was when Bill and Bobby were doing "What'd I Say?" Andy was indeed one of the greatest. Well, this guy liked my comment, so I thought I would share it with you. Same show where Bobby sang his amazing "Unchained Melody," which I call "Bobby's Song." Glad you're back.
@@hereonthe3L I'm really surprised. Karen Carpenter had a voice you won't believe! I would have loved to hear her duet with the amazing Bobby Hatfield. Karen and Richard are siblings, She passed away in the 80's from anorexia at the age of 32, I think. Her voice, like Bobby's will never be equaled. She was a fantastic drummer too. A good place to begin would be "We've Only Just Begun" and "Close to You," where she is playing drums as she sings. I hope you listen, as you will surely enjoy what you hear. Good night to you!
