The name of the channel made me think this was a video for senior citizens for a second there, but this video was actually really informative. Gracias!
Nonsense. 55 refers to the glorious passage of the revealed wisdom of God through John in the Book of Revelation: “Do not weep! Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”
This was very helpful! I've been surfing in different Spanish lessons in RUclips, and subscribed to your channel too. I felt like even this was quite fast paced for me, it clarified a lot things! Will return with my notebook and a pen. 😅
Thank you so much for your kind words and for subscribing to our channel! We're glad to hear the lesson was helpful, even if a bit fast-paced. Muchas gracias por la lección realmente buena, tal vez podrías hacer una lección para cubrir el imperfecto de subjuntivo también, por favor, saludos Steve
Hello Steve! Muchas gracias for your kind words and for your suggestion. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the lesson. Great news: We're planning a lesson on el imperfecto de subjuntivo very soon. Stay tuned for our upcoming videos. ¡Saludos! 🌟
Este es un excelente tutorial para aprender el subjuntivo. Entiendo la oración principal y la oración subordinada que producen el subjuntivo. ¡Usted es un muy buen maestro!
¡Muchisimas gracias! This helped me a lot to understand the usage. Welcome to the Spanish 55, I'm looking forward to more of your videos. I appreciate your clear explanations!
Hi @azbear2273! Thanks for watching and for your comment! El condicional puede usarse para expresar probabilidad o hacer peticiones de manera atenuada. El subjuntivo también pueden utilizarse para estas funciones, pero no presenta una acción completa sino que aparece en una oración subordinada. Por ejemplo, puedo decir "Ella podría venir mañana", donde "podría" es el verbo principal en condicional, pero si digo "le pedí que viniera mañana", el verbo principal es "pedí", y el subjuntivo se utiliza en la frase subordinada. I hope the explanation clarified things for you. If you're interested in diving deeper into this topic and enhancing your understanding, we'd like to invite you to a free trial lesson. During this lesson, we'll expand on the topic and provide more examples to ensure you grasp the concept fully. It's a great opportunity to ask questions and get personalized guidance. Let us know if you're interested, and we'll set it up for you!
Hello there! Thank you for the amazing video! I’m having a hard time understanding when in a casual conversation that I would use this. Would it be possible for you to have conversations with them highliyed in Spanish subtitles? It’s a lot of work but I am trying to find someone who does it. GREAT VIDEO! You’ve earned a subscription from me !
How long have you been on RUclips? I wonder why I haven't come across your videos before. I'm going to use this with my adult students. This is fabulous. ¡Gracias!
That means a great deal coming from a professional Spanish language coach! Our channel comes alive with the help of brand ambassadors who are passionate about the Spanish language and culture. Spanish55 was founded in 2014, but the channel started in 2019. I truly hope the future content adds as much value as this one to your adult students :)
Thank you, this was very educational for me. I am struggling with 'Escucha y marca con una cruz la letra que oigas'. Is oigas in the subjunctive form for this one because it's from a spanish textbook and so is this a recommendation from the WEIRDO acronym?
Hi Paul, good point! At Spanish55 we focus on neutral Latin American Spanish. There's a ton of great channels from Spain that can help with the vosotros form 😀
Thank you for this video! I want to know what will happen if you don’t use the subjunctive? Will people not understand what you are trying to say? For example, INCORRECT: “Ella no le gusta que su paella ESTÁ hecho con salchicha.” CORRECT: “Ella no le gusta que su paella ESTÉ hecho con salchicha.” if I say the first sentence what is the worst thing that will happen? Will people totally misunderstand me? Or will they understand me but just notice that I am using poor grammar? In what scenarios or context does it become imperative or very necessary to get the subjunctive right?
Thank you for your question! 💙 The subjunctive is essential in Spanish for expressing wishes, emotions, or hypothetical situations. If you use the indicative instead, like in your example, the sentence might still be understood, but it could sound grammatically incorrect or alter the intended nuance. Correct usage is important in both formal and everyday communication, as it aligns with standard grammar rules and helps convey your message accurately.
Estoy confudido. Will a subject change in a sentence trigger the subjunctive most of the time? Por ejemplo, ¿Recuerdas que vamos a comer pizza hoy? o ¿Recuerdas que vayas a comer pizza hoy? Or are these questions expressing different ideas like, Do you remember we are definitely going to eat pizza today vs. Do you remeber if we are going to eat pizza today? Also, what if I want someone to do something. Por ejemplo, Quiero que vayas a descanso a las once y media. I want you to go to break at 11Ñ30.
How about this one... "No se si uds sepan..." O "no se si uds saben..." Some say it's subjunctive and some say it's not. Well, which is it? I recently heard a podcast for spanish learners that said "sepan" (subjunctive) but all the online translators use the indicative.
¡Hola! We're sorry to hear that the pace was challenging. Our aim is to cater to learners at all levels. As a special gesture, we'd love to offer you a free trial lesson tailored to your pace and learning style. ¡Esperamos verte pronto! 🌟
What is the purpose of speaking your Spanish examples so quickly and unclearly? Your English is slow but your Spanish is often too fast and unclear, all signs of a lack of language teaching experience
Swings and roundabouts, John, really. If you think about the way you pronounce you own language, you will notice all kinds of shortcuts, elisions and contractions. You. Do. Not. Every. Time. Speak. Out. Each. Word.Perfectly. No, theyallruntogether. Close you eyes, listen to the sounds. Use the printed word only as a guide. We spoke before we read, as individuals and as a species. Ybuen'suerte!
Any examples would be useless without some prior knowledge of Spanish grammar. Walk before you run. She also explained important concepts before diving into the examples, so even without any Spanish skills, you should have come away with some good background information. As someone learning at a B1 level, I can say that this was a very helpful video. I think that if you watch this again in a year, you will get more out of it.
Give a big Spanish55 welcome to our newest Brand Ambassador, Andrea!
OMG I'm a spanish native speaker and I hadn't realized how hard it could be for a non native this topic, but you made it simple👍👍👍

Hola
Hola, Johnny. Gracias por tu comentario
I'm so clueless I don't know to how to be afraid..... yet.
Estoy confudido. Will a subject change in a sentence trigger the subjunctive most of the time? Por ejemplo, ¿Recuerdas que vamos a comer pizza hoy? o ¿Recuerdas que vayas a comer pizza hoy? La conjugación del verbo hace que cambie el sentido de la oración. Por ejemplo:
¿Recuerdas que VAS a comer pizza hoy?
Isn't Ojala derived from "Ojo a Allah?" Such as god willing? Just wondering.
Kind of! More than from "in sha'a Allah", it comes from the Arabic لو شاء الله (law sha'a Allah) "if God so desires"
How about this one...
"No se si uds sepan..." O "no se si uds saben..." Some say it's subjunctive and some say it's not. Well, which is it? I recently heard a podcast for spanish learners that said "sepan" (subjunctive) but all the online translators use the indicative.

And I thought directives,indirective and reflexives was hard😢 . por que!!!!!🥺🤣
The subjunctive: because Spanish needed its own plot twist! 🎬😂
Hmm. Not for me. I'm a beginner so it's too fast for me. I'll be back in a couple of months as I build my vocabulary. Thanks
We can help you with our beginners sessions!
Ojalá actually comes from O Allah, that is, I hope to God.
Thank you for that bit of trivia!
And NEVER use the persent subjunctive with si. It seems like "if" is doubt but not in the present tense.

not dumb, just over your head!
