  • Mount LeConte is the third highest peak in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We did the Alum Cave Trail to Mount LeConte recently and it was absolutely beautiful. It offers some of the most amazing views of the Smokies. It is a highly popular trail but if you're ever in the Great Smoky Mountains it is worth the almost 11-mile hike. The Mount LeConte Lodge stays booked but when we get the chance we will be staying there. It is a popular hike for a reason. We loved it!

Hello Nick and Rachel. I grew up in Blount County, and hiked year round when I was younger. The last time I was on Mt. LeConte we day hiked it on my 30th birthday. I'll be 65 soon and have had three knee surgeries. I never thought that I'd be able to get back up that trail. Your video took me back. I saw things that remember that are basically unchanged in almost 35 years. I still hike at Big South Fork, you should go there. The trails are not nearly as steep as GSMNP. Thanks a million and you earned another subscriber. DB.

Wow at the water level! I’ve hiked this trail several times and the most recent (last September) it rained on us all the way up and then stopped. But the water levels weren’t as high as when y’all did this video. It wasn’t crowded but there were others on the trail. Just not a lot. Days like that can seem inconvenient but my wife will always say at the end of the day that she’s so happy we made the hike.

This was a great day of hiking! Still one of our favorites 😁
You're right sometimes hiking in the rain can get rid of the crowds and sometimes it pays off!
We got a few more routes up Mount LeConte and then we can say we've been to all of them.

Honestly, I would love to do it in the snow! Even after that fall I took last year it took a few months to heal but it's better now. I also was really unprepared for that trip didn't expect snow or ice. That won't happen again lol yeah I would say if your knee is hurting just hold off on the more sketchy hike until it heals up that's what I did. Thanks!

I was in Tennessee visiting a friend back in May of 2013 and we got to the top of Mt. Leconte via this route. However, this video is the first time I have actually seen the view from the top. When I was there, it was so foggy at the top we could see absolutely nothing. I was struck by the overall lushness of vegetation, especially as compared to the rocky and forbidding western mountains where I come from. It seemed like every square inch of ground was covered by some kind of vegetation. Anyway, terrific video and wonderful footage. -CT
