Nice thorough honest review! The HD Zero and ELRS are a bonus for sure. Not only for beginners, but someone traveling light that wants to fly on a whim. Well done sir!
Hello Kelly, thank you for this review of the EMA TinyHawk 3 Plus. What a fantastic starter drone kit, especially for the price. It was sweet watching you fly down by the Scripps Pier. I hope you had time to meet up with Aldryn? This kit looks like a perfect starter drone for my nephew.
Looks like a really cool drone! #ByTheBookFlyers seems to be super durable. I wander if you had a power bank, if you could keep the goggles charging while flying.
For sure, a battery pack is the way to go, 4:01 just be sure the voltage is no higher that 5v. I've seen other reviews say they got over an hour in theirs -- we have two units and one gives about 26 minutes and the other about 36 minutes of battery life.
@#$%%$#@!!! I've been waiting hoping they would release the TH3 FS. I literally gave up waiting and purchased the TH2FS 2 weeks ago!!! 😤😤🤬 Great video you guys!!😢😢
I've bought this as my first drone in like 10yrs. I found the manual pretty bad and have been hunting around for videos to show how to setup / fly this thing, so thanks/
Hi Chris (and Kelly). You were kind enough to respond to me a couple of days ago about my discovery on how to save Lipo batteries that have been drained below 3.2 and cannot be charged by conventional means. This discovery is a simple one that may save us each hundreds of dollars in the future. Myself, I'd want to switch over to Lion batts. Anyway, I will do further testing then give you the results. I've only had a chance to try these two "Test" batteries (the two that won't charge otherwise) once and want to do more recharging before really shooting off my mouth. I'll let you know in a month or so. Feel free to keep in touch, Bill H.
Thanks for commenting. You kind of have to grip the plastic ends as much as possible, rather than pulling while holding the wires. Easier said than done, though.
Am I wrong, or does HDZero seem almost as noisy and dropout prone as analog? I've been wanting a Tinyhawk 3 FS for years. May just buy an analog one and upgrade it with a dji compatible nano camera / vtx.
Happened to me so far with mine. After about 3-4 battery’s my goggles go black. Been in touch with so many people and the problem it could be is up in the air lol. Doing a series of fixes and talking with support but will get that battery pack cause I almost hard crashed on a black screen
Sounds like exactly the same experience we had. Around a half hour of flying before...**poof** no more power. A battery level indicator would be nice, at the very least, right?
@@readysetdrone yes it would ! After everything I seen. Someone recommended the vtx overheating so whenever I had a battery in my tiny hawk I would run the props to keep the vtx cool and turn off my goggles whenever I had a long recovery or battery change and I got through 5 battery’s no sudden turn off !! Will fly more and see if this is total fix but next is support and adding bt2.0 connectors I heard it helps allow more voltage or whatever to the drone since the ph2.0 really can’t supply what it needs so I hear lol
cool vid. Are the included Transporter goggles compatible with 'normal' HDZERO quads available as usual BNF ? Also from the various reviews I've seen , most footage has lots of artifacts even at close range. any idea what power wattage is the VTX ?
Yes they are compatible with any other HD Zero quads. These are actually great for giving "ride-along" flights, so other people can watch what you're doing in real time, if you have other HD Zero goggles. At 9:51 on the lower right corner of the screen, you'll see it shows it's at 200mW. The artifacts are a fact of HD Zero, but also, due to the goggles having antenna that are not the most high end, there will be a little more of that rainbow pixel stuff happening. Actually, we're planning on comparing side by side HD Zero goggles footage of these Emax budget goggles and official (and expensive) HD Zero Goggles. Stay tuned if you're interested in that.
@@readysetdrone Thanks for the detailed answer .exactly what ineeded. Dont have anything HD yet but i was checking if the hardware (goggles and ELRS radio) can be reused with other BNF drones in the future. Much appreciated.
We haven't flown far enough to test its limits, but the video signal will be the first to go, rather than the RC link. If you're flying around an open area, I'd say conservatively 500 ft, probably more, but we never felt limited by the range. Having said that, we only flew in areas that we could walk to, had anything gone wrong (with a couple exceptions when we were over the cliffs, as shown in the video), but if there are buildings, trees, cars, etc., between you and the quad, the breakup in the video feed will become very apparent, and your effective range will be much less.
Another great review fellas . I definitely like this better For Freestyle And HD especially . definitely better than the TF 2 . This is the 2 quad I started fpv with and the meteor 85 from betafpv.#ByTheBookFlyers 😂
Oh ok, sorry. I hadn't heard of it before -- I had to Google that expression to better understand. I thought you referring to the trim buttons on the radio. The HD Zero version is more expensive for sure, but definitely a more enjoyable viewing experience. However, we've had a lot of fun with the analog model, so there's nothing wrong with going that route. Either one will be a fun learning experience. 👍
I have the tinyhawk freestyle 2 which I really love flying, I wanna get a bigger quad from emax, is this elrs radio compatible with emax'es babyhawk series when you choose to have elrs receiver on them? So can I just get one of those radios, ones that come with tinyhawk 3 series, from emax to fly with babyhawk O3 for example?
There's an "arm" switch that turns on and off the motors. Then once the motors are spinning, of course with the propellers installed correctly, the left stick on the controller is the throttle. That'll get you up and flying.
When I tried using a USB-C to USB-C cable into my computer, it didn't work, but when I used a USB-C to USB-A cable, then used an adapter to go into USB-C on my laptop, it did work. 👍 I noticed that I had to remap my stick controls in DRL for some reason.
EMAX needs to put there product names on a diet as long names which are hard to remember can't be good sellers #ByTheBookFlyers. Didn't you guys get a new AC craned in some time ago ?
The TinyHawk 3 Freestyle looks like a great RTF kit for beginners. TinyHawk makes good budget priced quads. Great review, and thanks for sharing.
🤘 Thanks, Ron. Did you see how skillfully Kelly flew through the lattice? 😅😜 9:51
@@SunriseWaterMedia Nice flying.

Agreed, Dan. And the flight time being over 6 minutes, even with HD Zero, is pretty nice.
This is what got me into FPV, and Im so glad it did. #Tinyhawk Good review Kelly and Smart Kris

Great video! What’s the trick to unplugging the batteries from the drone without feeling like I’m going to strip the wires out of the connector??
Thanks for commenting. You kind of have to grip the plastic ends as much as possible, rather than pulling while holding the wires. Easier said than done, though.
I’ve found a good side-to-side wiggle does the trick! Thanks!
cool shirt Kelly. thanks

HDZero is basically higher resolution analog. You are not wrong.
For this very low voltage and amps it's really need that capacitor?
How to link the station to the drone. Pressing the two arrows in?
This is a cool setup and seems like a great flyer. Look forward to seeing it at SpinUp. #Tinyhawk #ByTheBookFlyers

would you still recommend the kit if one were to purchase the analog trim?
What is an analog trim?
@@readysetdrone referring to trim levels like in a car. There is a HD and analog video configuration.

You can bind a ELRS receiver to any ELRS radio.
Hi what size Allen key does it need please?
If you look at 1:12 you'll see the size on screen.
What do i do to start to fly?? Help
There's an "arm" switch that turns on and off the motors. Then once the motors are spinning, of course with the propellers installed correctly, the left stick on the controller is the throttle. That'll get you up and flying.
where would the bind button be located if i bought the bnf version?
ELRS goes into bonding mode when you plug in a battery 3 times in sequence within a couple of seconds. That's how you put it into bind mode.
Can the remote be used with a simulator?
Captain Drone said yes on that
When I tried using a USB-C to USB-C cable into my computer, it didn't work, but when I used a USB-C to USB-A cable, then used an adapter to go into USB-C on my laptop, it did work. 👍

Yes, we got a new AC, but the electrician (fixing something else) cut the line to the AC by accident.
It's been a ride!
Thanks for watching, Trevor!
think i want one......"santa"!
😄
HDZero is a total misnomer. It should be called "A Bit Better Than Analog But Not By Much". Pass.
You should prob try it s bit before deciding
Yeah, I've always thought of it as HD analog, as opposed to the digital video that we have gotten used to from DJI.
