    *EDIT*
This is quite impressive for what it is. The price of used MESA amps since the sale to Gibson has gone crazy. I'd definitely scope one of these out. $400USD is a fair price I think.

I dont think prices have really been effected by the Gibson acquisition, at least not yet, used prices have been going so high on Mesa because there was a transformer shortage that has been making it really hard for Mesa to produce amps and a bunch of people responded by jacking up used prices. Once amps became available again prices dropped, I got a pretty good deal on my JP2C, then when everywhere sold out again, prices started to go up again.

@@MetalHeadProductions Doesn't help people have been hyping the shit out of the old Marks like crazy lmao. I remember when you could get a Mark III for under $1000, but ever since RUclips discovered them, good luck finding a Blue Stripe Mark III for under $1500 now.

Well done that Mix was sweet. They two definitely have some differences but, worked well together. Great that you have the real deal one to compare it to don’t think anyone else has. HappyNewYear!

The jp2c is not the real deal. The pull deep is always in circuit , and not the same transformers as the original.

@@SHREDTILLDEAD ok. Still sounded pretty sweet to my ears.

Both channel 2 and 3 on the JP2C are IIC+ channels, just with different settings on the input gain (volume) controls.

    • @MetalHeadProductions
      @MetalHeadProductions  2 года назад +2

Channel 3, according to the Mesa website, is modified from the IIC+, higher gain, fatter, warmer and more compressed than an actual IIC+. Channel 2 is the one that's an actual IIC+ channel.

      @@MetalHeadProductions from the owners manual:
"CHANNEL 2&3 These are the two high gain Channels and they are identical save for one small difference; Channel 3 is ever
so slightly higher gain due to a higher value for the internally preset (missing as compared to a MARK II-C+) VOLUME 1 Control.
This difference optimizes Channel 3 for single note Lead work and makes the response a little more fat and round sonically and more
      legato and creamy feel-wise. "
I think on the site they just mean it's higher gain, fatter, warmer, and more compressed than channel 2 because of this higher internal gain setting 👍
I’ve got to admit though, reading just the web page they worded it really awkwardly and didn’t make that clear at all.

The in mix track gave me some Crystal Mountain vibes.
Tone wise, it reminds me of my Mesa Studio preamp. Thanks to Leon Todd posting about them and creating some interest, their price has skyrocketed unfortunately.

I think the 5 band EQ on the iicp needed more work because Ola and Leon Todd made their identical and a bit more open sounding to the Mesa Mark v or the IIc+. Yours sounded good but it was warmer than the mesa.

I would say they are pretty close. Only problem I have with my IICP module is I find myself fucking with different tones constantly and not writing any new music! 😁👍

Have you tried running the synergy 4 cable method into the Omega Granyphyre? I've been playing Omega's Neural DSP plugin for awhile and it's definitely my favorite of theirs and I was thinking that maybe the Synergy with the Friedman BB/BE would be cool if it worked with their loop to get a clean out of the BB and Marshall style crunch out of the BE would be a great addition to the otherwise single channel amp.

I did this when I compared four high gian modules. Works great, sounded huge.

In all honesty IICP unit as heard in the in-mix samples and out of mix samples, sounds like a cheap distortion unit. Even when listening to the samples in a non-monitor headphones, the difference is obvious. On the other hand in the play-through section it sounds quite good. The amp sounded way more juicy, but I am still not a fan of this tone. Great work !
