Seriously, why has this not won the “labour of love” award on steam yet? It’s pretty much the definition of that.
It won the best ongoing game award by game of the year awards, it beat fortnite, cod warzone, destiny 2
Edit: It also beat Apex legends
Among Us won that award due to it's huge popularity and nothing else, in spite of the fact that Innersloth completely abandoned it and only decided to keep updating it after it started bringing in tons of money

I'm gonna give ya the benefit of the doubt and assume you didn't watch any of the trailers/footage leading up to the launch of the game cos if ya had done, you'd already have recognised that half-arsed base building and vehicles doesn't really cut it when the game itself lacks a goal/purpose and is devoid of any of the charm that was expected and shown in those same trailers. The game is almost on par to what was promised, and that's great for those still interested, but to glamorise them actually fixing their own game as if they're doing it out of the goodness of their heart rather than any form of obligation to deliver what was promised all those years ago is just really telling of the user base and their naivety.

You know what is funny about this statement? every little thing SC has is greatly better that the same compared to NMS aside the voxels implementation, from ships behaviour to planet generation... TBH 90% of NMS is exactly what is hated about other games such Assasins creed, relay too much on farming or copy-pasted content, it works in this game because is based on exploration, but still is a very empty exploration, most of the interest to continue in the game is based on farming mechanics (if all would be avalaible on the start on 40h everybody would be bored of the game unless you expend your time making screenshots) ... just compare the languaje treatment on NMS (all based on spam use on aliens to get new words to make a basic replacement from one alien text to your languaje, still sharing the same structure) while SC points to create some complex languajes, being the star trek Klingon a great example of what they expect to achieve.
You guys are absolutely insane with how much work and love gets poured into this game
The one thing I can’t wait for is cities
I think the planetary archives were kinda meant to be a "city" of sorts. Problem with cities is you, well, kinda want to be able to do things and see people and interact with things. That's a TON of work to do AND to try to make them feel procedurally generated without getting old.
@@gojiack be worth it though
@@sean7332 Define "worth it", could you? Because my point is it's a lot of resources to make something that isn't very useful.
Didn't lore explained that city's can't be build on planets because of sentinels?
making cities would be it's own game. And procedurally generating them without it getting stale is not something anyone in the gaming industry has managed to accomplish yet, you'd need an entire AI to procedurally generate them.
I've been playing really heavy lately. Got the Normandy. Now I'm gonna hammer down and build that base I always wanted to build
Try to build your base without terrain editing, the terrain can go back to how it was and engulf your base.
@@eldz4990 also raised floors so grass doesn't grow through your floors! xD
Note: So far I've found the terrain "un-editing" seems to happen mostly when the Multiplayer is turned on. (Along with a few other... issues... like (figuratively) hundreds of derelicts spawning in a system near the start of Expedition space...)
Depending on the style of base you're working on, there are a couple of ways to work around this. If you're using the prefabs, then build up about one character height and remove the things underneath, before putting a support in place. (Or "foundation" for the large prefabs.) If you're using the single-part panels, then just build up one floor level and use that.
Given the new adjustment to carry freighter interiors across to new ones, it's also now quite useful to put everything you need in there. (After I JUST moved my farming to a base off the freighter to start fishing for an upgrade...)
Your story of perseverance is something I tell my kids. Never give up.
