Thanks for watching! I use variations on this run all the time. The way I VISUALIZE it is that I'm playing A, Bm, C#dm, D, Em, F#m, and G chords but only using the D and B stringe - and then putting an A string Drone over it. In relation to the key of the song it's just a D major chord scale or sorts, but I suppose you could then relate all those dyads to A if you wanted to think about it in relation to the chord that's being played at that moment. I just never have haha

I just got it man! I love your version so much. Working on the speed and rhythm, but have it all memorized. Hoping to have it polished by the time I go back to school, I’m trying to impress a lady for our second date. I think this is gonna do the trick. Now I just need your singing from your cover, I don’t know if I can pull that off. Thanks so much, this is a blast to learn and play

@@music_works I’ll be back in 2 weeks with an update. We went out right before I went home for summer. It was the best date I’ve been on. Tons of fun, got drinks, skateboarded home together (so cool), and sang and danced around my room all night. So lovely. She seemed like she was really into me too. I’m thinking it’s going to go well, especially once I pull this one out ;) thanks for this friend. I’ll be back

Hi Music Works, fantastic playing and arrangement on this song, this is a really nice cover. I appreciate this is three year old video, but I'm trying to work out the theory behind what you're playing in that run at the end (starting at 0:58). Is it a partial run up the G major scale starting from C? If so, is this because this is a mode of the key (D)? It sounds great, just wondering how it all connects to try and also make my playing more tasteful and expressive

    Where'd all the time go?
    It's starting to fly
    See how the hands go
    Waving goodbye
And you know I get so forgetful
When I look in your eyes
    Now she's walking backwards
    Through a parade
And I'm stuck in the shadow
    Blocking the shade
And there ain't no way to sweep up
    The mess that we've made
She gets dressed up like a pillow
    So she's always in bed
Flowers for the sick and dead
She's on the go, way too fast and way too slow
She'll turn to stone at hospitals and funeral homes
    And when the fog rises
Somebody sighs who is not in disguise anymore
    There's nothing to keep you
    From falling in love
    It starts at the bottom
    And comes from above
    Like pieces of a puzzle
Like a hand in a glove
She gets dressed up like a pillow so she's always in bed
Flowers for the sick and dead
She's on the go, way too fast and way too slow
She'll turn and stop at hospitals and funeral homes
    And when the tide rises
Somebody sinks and is gone in the blink of an eye

    • @music_works
      @music_works  5 месяцев назад

This is a 1964 Guild Starfire II. Its got an incredible neck. I use it alot backing up singers in duos (middle position is out of phase which helps duck behind a vocalist), solo, and on recordings for vintage feel!

    • @music_works
      @music_works  5 месяцев назад +1

@surfffuck I'm not a les paul guy either. This definitely feels more like an ES 175 I'd say. Or even those old epiphone casinos! It's very comfortable
