Never put rubbing alcohol on a fresh tattoo, that is a cardinal sin for tattoos

Omg who would ever do that?! Tegaderm for 3 days take it off shower use dial antibacterial soap then slap aveeno lotion on it. Continue to shower daily wash with the soap let airdry after and keep putting lotion on 3 times daily. Change bed sheets during healing

The problem with Tegaderm is that many customers find it confusing on how to use or when to take it off. It's tattoo artists use this it's very recommended to give written Aftercare instructions as well. The other issue I have with it is that some people are allergic to adhesives in the Tegaderm. Speaking as a tattoo artist myself I found that clients are very confused on how to use the Tegaderm and it's best to give written aftercare on the usage

Great vid but FYI: Rubbing alcohol (and peroxide) slows healing so I would avoid that but teg works great for healing wounds. I am going to get inked On weds and I will try the teg. Thanks for the video.

I used Tegaderm when I sliced my thumb open and sped up the healing process. It would have taken weeks if I didn't. Working as a nurse, I never used it until that happened :-)

Just got my God of War sleeve finished last night and my artist was like I have a new way of wrapping you up...and I was like...WHAT????? So she explained Tegaderm and I was intrigued. She wrapped me up and sent me home and I have to say, that it already feels better. It is sore but I can see it "weeping" and it is not getting out or on my clothes. It is perfect because I am doing some moving in the next few days and will need to pick up boxes and such and I was worried how I was going to handle that the traditional way. I hope this works for me! Thanks for the vid, very informative!

Used these over my port site for chemo, but I'm allergic to adhesives so my skin would get super inflamed. This time around I needed a PICC line, which needs a constant airtight dressing to keep the entry site from getting infected. The hypoallergenic ones are called IV-3000, and you can buy them on Amazon. They have a matte surface and a bit of a pattern in the material, but they still breathe like tagaderm. Not sure how they would work on tattoos, but the next artist I want to use (when my immune system is back!) Uses tagaderm dressings, so I'll give it a try with all my leftover IV-3000s hahaha

I'm sure it's the same principle we use tegaderm to cover IV sites all the time.

Kayliegh thanks for posting. I have to absolutely second this video. I use basically the same process except for the alcohol part. (ouch!) after the dabbing dry I just let it air out a few minutes. I then put a very THIN, layer of A & D. And I mean thin. too much and your skin can't breath. be sure to rub in all the way. after that I only leave the tegaderm on for the first day or two depending on the size of the tat. I've used this method twice now and it works beautifully. very minimal if any scabbing. after that I just do typical after care. lotion, etc.

Good vid. My last TA2 the artist used a "professional tattoo" clear film bandage (I forget the name) but it looked just like that product. I will use this method tomorrow after I get my next one done. Good vid, liked!!

So dont you put Tegaderm on straight the way after your tattoo has finished? I have used Tatu-Derm and YaYo skin guard so far and had 4 bad reactions from both Derms 2 of them leaving me in hospital the other 2 times I had to go see my doctor and every time I was put on 8 antibiotics a day as both Derms gave me cellulitis so the Dermatologist thinks, but I need my sleeves finishing off but am scared to use a skin derm in case it happens again, the easier option is to let it heal the normal traditional way but I can't because my job is so so dirty I am literally covered in black sand and dust all day, so thought use a so called second skin (not the brand) but every derm is a second skin right, but each time ive used it ive been so ill, what happens is my tattooist will finish a 3-6 hour session then wipe it down and put a derm on that I bought myself as its still new in the UK a lot of tattooist have never heard of a derm, then I will go home and eventually go bed wake up in the morning and I will have a huge air pocket full of fluid, ink, blood, plasma, and then it either bursts or it will leak, so will take it off as I'm in agony feels like its on fire and wash it and its red raw, now I switched derms as I thought I might be allergic to the adhesive on the Tatu-derm after using it twice but the same thing happened with the YaYo brand I thought I would be OK with that 1 as its all vegan so after 2 goes with that I''m like shit what do I do so bought Tegaderm but now wondering if all the derms have the same adhesive that is causing this, but maybe not? I know I must have sensitive skin but im so scared to use a 3rd brand Tegaderm in case I end up with cellulitis again, but maybe the adhesive is different? or the tattooist is putting it on wrong or too soon or what my head is a mess cuz I cant figure out what to do, the doctors told me its probably the adhesive that is causing it as its against my open wound, but now after reading and watching I'm thinking my tattooist is putting it on to early as a lot of people have said dont put it on for at least the first 24 hours, but she puts her derm on straight the way when she has a new tattoo, now im confused and im just wasting my money as the tattooist keeps going over the same tattoo as obviously the ink either fell out or is patchy and im not getting anywhere soon, and im embarrassed about my arms as my tattooist is covering up old shitty sleeves and the summer is just about here and I dont want to have to wear long sleeve tops all the time in the summer cuz I will just roast up, any thoughts and suggestions you beautiful people, sorry for the long ass message..

So I have this on my tattoo right now. I remember my artist saying only take it off if it’s either peeling off or if blood sleeps out of the edges..
But I feel kinda worried that there’s a good amount of liquid in there between blood and plasma. Is that normal? This is my first time using these things. I have only cleaned it normally before

I kept mine on for 24 hrs after the tattoo and it filled up with plasma I guess, then I took it off and washed the tattoo with antibacterial soap, patted dry and put another tegaderm over the tattoo. I just took it off after 4 days and it was dried up and stick to the ink part while I was peeling it off, is that normal or did my tattoo get ruined??
