In 2019 I believe it was Jeff who said that, that mission then was a proof of concept, and what we got was a scaled down Proof Of Concept, lol its just so dumb now and its very hard to take the devs seriously at the moment.

    • @S3nCh4n
      @S3nCh4n 2 месяца назад +4

It was the prospect of having to do more work. In essence the Rio mission was pretty much complete in 2019, but that will mean that they need to expand on these missions with further stories, missions, rewards on a scale just as big as this one, which they won't because it costs too much money (artists, voice actors, engineers, and of course, 200 managers). So they had to scale it down to save future spendings.

One of the most respectable CEOs in gaming, monitization that pretty much everyone can get behind, so popular the sever capacity is overcapacity until the fix it with around 800k playing, intense but fun and engaging gameloop. and this dev team was about 100 total btw. and blizz had over double that from the sounds of it.

Overwatch was the last AAA multiplayer big box game without built in live service, Overwatch 2 was released right before people started rebelling against predatory MTX stuff, and they'll probably now do an emergency rehaul of PvE to poorly copy Helldivers style gameplay along with trying a battle royale style version. Sty pretty much summed it up. "They tried to both together and ended up doing nothing (16:18)".
If OW1 wouldn't have pursued PVE, continued to just update their super popular PVP game, they would have had massive success. Instead, they added nothing for 3 years.
If the OW team would have gone full in on PVE, and actually allocated the correct resources (whether it be personnel, possibly outsourcing etc.) and delivered on their promise, giving us an amazing repayable PVE experience in the OW universe, they would have had massive success. "That 3 year drought sucked, but DAMN it was worth the wait!"
In reality, we killed PVP by ignoring the playerbase for years, then killed PVE by, well... delivering nothing and firing everyone who worked on it. Now both sides of the game are pissed. Their only chance of redemption is to revive the PVP side at this point. And making the monetization shit, making dumb changes to the rank system, not delivering on promised features (remember guilds?), taking out old content like the LFG system, 2CP (should have been reworked not removed completely), making drastic changes like 6v6 to 5v5, the recent health and projectile size buffs, new DPS passive etc. Just keep shooting themselves in the foot. Every time I open a video hoping to be reinvigorated to play the game I just get reminded of why I left.

no failure just a brutal scam starting in 2016. The game was always a scam. the cinematics where made to manipulate former league of legends players who where tired of the abusive community of LoL. so the cinematics and marketing, used friendly colors and words to pitch an alternative. It was released in a time when big names in the league community had tryed and failed many times to leave. And almost did when Blade and Socery droped. But BnS got really bad, and at this point there was no alternatives to league for pvp. Thus the overwatch trallier droping out of nowhere. With friendly colors and "diverse" characters. But as we know. The real problom with LoL was the disgusting people who play it. and those people where the target of overwatchs marketing, thus why they came over to Overwatch in the first place. There is no such thing as counter picking a whole hero in other mobas. Hell not even in other competitive hero/champion games period because it's just not a skillful mechanic.
Like what kind of dog shit developer adds so-called "moba elements" but doesn't add any of the shit that makes mobas work ? Like paladins at least TRIES to add a totally new tool called "the comeback mechanic". They forced there moba fps to work. From day 1. Overwatch never did. With or without jeff.
All of these issues were present in overwatch since day 1. OW2 just exaggerated it because they're actually messing with the formula now.
      TL;DR
OW1 WAS NEVER GOOD, IT WAS JUST ONE OF ITS KIND WITH GOOD GRAPHICS AT THE TIME. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE NOW IS PLAYERS HAVE BEEN SMELLING THE SHIT UNDERNEATH FOR 7 YEARS.

As someone who only started playing at the launch of OverWatch 2, OverWatch is starting to feel almost nefarious.
Now when I look at the characters that I loved so much even before playing the game, It all just feels like a front to a scam with no real future.
It feels like they've completely neglected and disrespected the world and heroes that we all fell in love with.

    • @MauseDays

it was a scam from 2016 yes. It was created in response to leagues player base getting completely done with the community of neckbeards and parasites. They where looking for something new. This is why overwatch was released in 2016 into this landscape. They knew people would pay to leave league of legends and it was working. Sadly the league parasites where 90% of the community. So when it dropped they came over. That was the plan from the very start. They sold it on WOKE. with flashy colors and a "Diverse" cast. They did this becouse they knew jangling colorful things infront of manbabys and neckbeards who threaten to do things to peoples family's over a moba are easily manipulated.

Also add some stuff like what hades has and add in buffs and give the players choices on which buffs they would like. Make the enemies AI better giving them strategies just like the soldiers in half life(they didn’t just shoot you they would take cover and move around them map to find the best spots for them to shoot you from(they could also smell you)). As far as PVE they should have dialed in on the replayable Hero Missions, which essentially was meant to be Archives Plus. Forgot the large scale cinematic big set piece missions. The Retribution Archive mission is still fantastic mission in my opinion. You throw in more of those and add some of the power variety like we saw in the Sanctum mission recently and you're golden. They already have so many maps in Overwatch to work with too. Retribution was just the Rialto map with a couple added areas and it worked.

It's kinda dumb when you consider that what happened with the unreleased MMO Titan, happened again with Overwatch. They overshot their target by so much they were forced to eventually shut it all down. That is 100% a leadership issue. They're building castles in the sky and every developer is just forced to follow them, and then they lose their job because of it, while the leadership just continues on to fk up the next project.

The reason why i got into overwatch was because i was interested in the lore and the characters and for them to completely abandon PVE and story missions make me want to abandon the game entirely

Funny part is that PVE failed because it required new content.
Meanwhile they think Overwatch 2 without new content was the success they needed.
Well, I've played enough Overwatch 1 to know I don't need more of the same.

And people don’t think Jared and his short term thinking isn’t a problem. Yes PVP is the main component. But without a story it’s soul-less. Fun for a few matches and eventually people will drift away. There’s a reason games like RE2 and Final Fantasy 7 get remade. The story is great and people remember the moments they played it. Even Halo 1 had that. Without a story mode OW is doomed to fail

as someone who eats any PvE content up raw and loves the hell out of it, my reaction to the cancellation was honestly just: "oh no! anyway..."

PVE was hard to do with the PVP toolkits? Battleborn did this in a cave! With parts!!

So... the directors/producers/leadership want "Blizzard quality",decided to delay work that's already finished, and yet the shipped content PVE (the omnic and cthulu ones), hero masteries and tower defense are boring as hell. Yeah I knew it was a management problem this whole time. AAA is not sustainable, imagine working on a small change and having to go through 10 layers of management for a green light.
