I love how wrestling in general has changed, not the actual wrestling itself I am talking about, but the way wrestling is less of a macho thing. Wrestlers can talk about horror movies, video games, comics, action figure collecting, superheroes, and its all cool cause that culture is more accepted now. You wouldnt hear (in public) popular wrestlers in the 80's or 90's takiing about stuff outside the ring, besides being in movies.
Gone are the days of steroid charged male wrestlers and playboy models who can't wrestle for shit. All that macho bullshit you saw in pro wrestling back in the day have move to MMA. I love the nostalgia as much as the next person does. Its great Pro wrestling is becoming more inclusive.

Event Horizon is very underrated. It's unfortunate that all the extra footage was destroyed, so no director's cut. I am fortunate to have the 2-Disc Special Edition DVD. Had it since '04, or '05.

This movie sticks with me from when I watch as a kid with my older borthers, and messed me up big time! The premise and messed up images freaked and traumatized me out for weeks / months / years afterwards.

Especially the clown episode, I definitely remember being kind of scared of that episode, but the funny thing about it is, it wouldn't fly in modern day because of how the kid bought cigars for the clown in that episode

Before this movie came out I had watched a behind the scenes look at the upcoming Event Horizon on hbo I think. The various set designs and uses of color really stuck out to me and I couldn’t wait to see it. It lived up to hype.
You gotta give the people what they want. Love these guys and they chose a fantastic movie. Fun fact; the Doom door noise is a licensed sound effect and was not made by id software, we can instead thank Canada for the iconic sci-fi door noise that I can't help but pick out every time I hear it anywhere it's played because it makes me think I activated a secret or a monster closet opened up somewhere nearby.
Never thought about how this movie has been referenced in other media. Its nice to know that it left an indelible mark on young psyches that are creating cool things. One of my faves from this director is still Shopping which I searched out after being impressed by his take on Mortal Kombat. Watching this in the theater was a cool experience back in the day. Y'all have great taste. B~)
Honestly I can sympathize with Beretta and his outlook on horror because that was me for the longest time just feeling too freaked out by the horror genre and everything. I only just got into horror as an adult and now it’s become one of my favorite things ever and nowadays I watch some pretty gnarly stuff that my kid self would be shocked that I enjoy. I have come to realize horror especially for us the viewer it’s all mental the scare or the gore is only as scary as we interpret it in our minds. And exploring more and more horror I have been able to overcome a lot of that and not felt as scared of a certain horror film.
I love that Orange Cassidy brought up the paper wormhole explanation. I think it was last year Kyle Hill did a contest for people to come up with a better explanation as that's the one every movie uses to explain wormholes

i remember watching this movie over quarantine and id have to say that its a pretty good movie yea the SFX haven't held up over time but the story-line that keeps you on the edge of your seat and not knowing what could happen next makes this one of the greats and of course can't forget the acting; the actors did an amazing job

Lol, I remember a group of us going to see this, one buddy had brought a girl he was trying to pick up, and she was not a horror type. He did not get the girl, but he made some excellent "this is making me hungry for some pasta right now, heavy red sauce", jokes. This movie also had a top tier cast all the way down, too.
We went to see this at the cinema, we were bored and just wanted to see a movie, we had no specific movie we wanted to watch and ended up choosing Event Horizon. We had no clue what it was about. It was pretty messed up, but we loved it!
I had a TV in my room growing up. My intro to horror was a combo of Are you Afraid of the Dark....Monster vision with Joe Bob Briggs...Halloween movies around Halloween...Friday the 13th movies whenever it was Friday the 13th. And my dad took me to see Event Horrizon when I was 8. Been hooked from there.
I know Mike Flanagan has a diverse body of work, but imagining an Event Horizon series in the style of Hill House or Midnight Mass with long monologue after long monologue is so funny for some reason. (I love both of those shows though.)
This is the movie that made me a horror fan. It had this mystique to it when i was a kid because when i was in kindergarten my dad and my 12 year old brother rented it thinking it was just a standard sci fi thriller. I wasn't allowed to watch but i knew my brother had nightmares for weeeeeeks after. The only bit i saw was sam neil with his back to the Fish and Joley richardson right before he revealed his eyes, which lucky enough for 6 year old me i got kicked out of the room before i was scared for life. I was always really wimpy so i was terrified of horror well into my teens and a big part of that was my brother's reaction to event horizon . Until i was 16 the scariest movies id seen were probably blade 2, starship troopers and scary movie 3 and they all scared me. So cut to 10 years later and the special edition dvd comes out and i decided to grab it after really trying to build up my bravery thinking this is the scariest movie ever and was stoked i got through it. I absolutely loved it, i loved the story behind how it all came together too. The story of the missing final cut being found in a salt mine and how there was a much gnarlier cut was so fascinating and more importantly by getting through it it jump started my love of horror and now im a genre fanatic. I probably wouldn't be watching this video right now without event horizon. So glad to see people talking about it again. It ain't perfect, but its such a cool concept (and a great prequel to warhammer 40k :P)
Salt mines are one of the best place to store movies. Many of the original camera negatives of movies like Ben-Hur and Gone With the Wind, as well as memorabilia like Mr. Freeze's costume from Batman & Robin are stored in an underground vault in a salt mine in Kansas.

Paul WS Anderson cops a lot of crap for his movies, specifically The Resident Evil films, but he still has the greatest game to movie adaptation in Mortal Kombat under his belt. Event Horizon, which is a cult classic. Even Alien vs Predator is a shit tonne of fun.

"Curse of the dead mans float" is the are you afraid of the dark episode with the pool zombie, it scared the hell out of me when I was a kid.
