    Tex is a private guy. He doesn't see him self as anything but a whiskey aged voice in the choir. His head is average size, and not over inflated. Its part of why we love him. He is an everyman, a calming voice in the storm, and level headed.
    @RenegadeHPG talked to the hired steel guys and got some insight, along with a watch party with the thosew two and a producer on the old BattleTech cartoon, Sam Lewis.

    I appreciate the fact that their mechs have custom loadouts. To me it signals that their machines are old, and have been upgraded and personalized over the course of their life

    • @Zippercdrr
      @Zippercdrr 11 месяцев назад +5

      They are old. Some machines are known to be passed down in families. Most designs are hundreds of years old, having variants that have had to adapt to the loss of technology

    • @Eserchie
      @Eserchie 11 месяцев назад +5

      Yeah. Also, they are mercs - no standardized logistics to guarantee the right replacements or force them to stick to the official loadout. Note that each mech is also altered in a way that makes it less reliant on support from others - the rifleman is still the team sniper, with the gauss, but the offside has a RAC/UAC for that crit/pierce mix and keeping the hurt up as distance closes. The hunchie is still the up close brawler, but has AMS, MG's for keeping the infantry away, and an AC10 instead of the big old 20.

    • @pheonixshaman
      @pheonixshaman 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@Eserchie I always felt the loadouts were intended to reflect a lack of long distance logistical support. Hence why the Rifleman has two different guns with two different ammo types.

    • @boxtank5288
      @boxtank5288 3 месяца назад +3

      Or better summed up with the SAME principle as Catapult Variant making:
      -If it Fits? It Works!
      -If it Works? DO IT.
      -Fuck you it's a Catapult
      -YOU'RE NOT MY MOM, I DO WHAT I WANT.

  • @kaspi001
    @kaspi001 11 месяцев назад +17

    They're meant to be mercs, which means their 'mech loadouts are mainly determined by what they can afford, what is available, and what works.
    If it fits, it works. If it works, then it's not stupid.

    I gotta say, i really like the "slower" intros of Hired Steel, especially the ones that give you some interesting details - such as the fact that in Episode 1 we could see who Equis Lanceis working for - the Lohengrin.

  • @mrcenturies1820

    I think the Shadow Hawk is meant to be a UAC, as can be seen in its lower rate of fire and the UAC name when in cockpit view. Likely just reusing assets

    The thing I loved about this series is the military jargon they added. Too many of these fan films of war games leave that out.
    The other funny thing is I think I disagreed with every climatic take you had on the movie 😄

  • @dakkath414
    @dakkath414 11 месяцев назад +6

    All of Eques lance have custom builds
    1 the shadowhawk is Ultra 5, 2x SRM6, 2x ML, AMS
    2 the Catapult is I think 2x LRM20 and a bunch of vehicular grenade launchers for smoke
    3 the Rifleman runs Gauss and Ultra 5 plus 2x medium lasers
    4 the Hunchback has AC10, 2x machine guns, 2x medium lasers, some kind of oneshot ams flak launcher, and possibly ferro fibrous armor and/or claws
    I'm pretty sure at least a couple of them have to be running XL engines to fit all that equipment.

      Possibly endo steel and double heatsinks as well. Hard to say. The Helm Memory Core was discovered in 3028 and if I remember right this series takes place in 3041 so that's 13 years to start producing SLDF tech. Plus you never know what merc companies discover as they go from place to place. Especially when a merc company has a generous gm and lets them come across an sldf cache once or twice before that stuff starts getting produced again.

    A few points my slime bro:
    1. The prologue introduces us to the mechs and equis lance. Ep. 1 is simply the start of the story, if you will.
    2. The lizard and grasshopper scene in ep. 2 was, imo, foreshadowing (much with the quote about the atlas in ep 3).
    3. All the mechs seem to be custom builds.

  • @1Scimetar

    Just FYI, the autocannon on the Shadowhawk was misidentified. TMC said that it was a RAC, or ROTORY autocannon, and yes, the one in the rifleman's right arm was probably a RAC2, but that's pretty much a reinvention of the IRL 20mm Vulcan cannon as the main gun equipped to modern fighter jets. Rather, I think that the cannon in the shadowhawk's shoulder is a UAC5, as it hit with a greater impact, fired in a 3-round burst, and only had 3 barrels, while MWO (MechWarrior Online) shows a RAC2 as having 6 barrels and a RAC5 as having 4. I was also wishing that Baradul would be in this, and he's Eques 3, the Rifleman pilot. Most of what he makes is BattleTech related content, like modded lets plays of the BattleTech turn-based game and MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, along with an MWO match that highlights the strengths of a crazy mech build. You can probably tell that it's him because of the combination of his distinctly German accent and a nearly 40cm long beard that's been styled to have every 5cm gathered and bunched up into a sort of bead made out of hair.

    With that opening speech in part 3, I'm honestly theorizing that the next part or so that we'll be seeing a glimpse of the Atlas or perhaps the King Crab, which was another Mech requested by Kerensky. Either Mech would make for an amazing encounter.

    Pretty sure the Shadowhawk is rocking a UAC 5 and not a RAC. As for the Rifleman, I'm fairly certain that it's got a RAC 2 or poss. a RAC 5 and a Gauss Rifle in the other 'arm'. Hunchie is probably a AC/10 and some AP machine guns to go with the arm mounted Medium Lasers.

      Pretty much all the autocannons have different variables depending on manufacture and model. Caliber, velocity, weight of projectile, number of projects per salvo, etc. The game abstracts all these variables into the four class with single values. This is one of the reasons why mechs use the same manufacture the same weapon class on a unit. To keep the performance consist.

  • @JoshuaVTrinity
    @JoshuaVTrinity 11 месяцев назад

    I’m pretty sure that the mechs use IS lostech and that the ACa are UAC5s, instead of RAC5s. MW5 and MWO ultra autocannons look like that, and I think the Shadow Hawk and Rifleman don’t have the tonnage for RACs
