Solid longrange Punch of a Heavy Mech and Shortrange Punch of a Heavy to Assault. And the BNC-3E is better armed than some 80tons Assault Mechs. Okey one, Charger CRG-1A1 86kph and 5 small lasers.

First assault I ever managed to get in BHS Battletech. I changed the weapons to a gauss rifle and a snubnose PPC and filled the arms with zero weight internal damage mods gave it to a pilot who should have been in scouts if I am honest. It could one shot a Locust from arm to CT with a melee connection. I got this glorious beast running incredibly early in the campaign and it made this thing one of my favorite assault mechs for the same reason some folks like the Charger.
Something to note about glowed-up banshee. The extended range ppcs it has dont have a minimum range. So not only can they hit further, they can also act as part of this screeching ghost's brawling suite.
You have to imagine when they made the Mackie they figured that fast moving actions would be handled by tanks and VTOLs they prob never figured that you would have light mechs. Like how the first tanks were fat boys like the British Mark 1-7s, but the FT would later come along and set the actual standard for what a tank should be.
To be fair the early tanks were developed to cross the huge trenches and craters of the western front, push down the barbed wire _thickets_ so that infantry could cross without getting hung up, and clear trenches for the infantry attack - if they could've moved faster they'd have outpaced the infantry and the Germans would have re-occupied the trenches behind them before the infantry got there. The Whippet and the FT were undoubtedly better _tanks,_ but the Mark 1-7 really could use both sponsons in their intended role and were perfectly sufficient infantry tanks for bite-and-hold.
Much as I like hearing people sing the S-line Banshee's praises, your timeline is a little mashed together. Pulling Banshees out of storage and rebuilding them wasn't a Clan Invasion thing, it was one of the things they did to prepare for the Fourth Succession War. Katrina Steiner had them yank the giant engine and put in a reasonably-sized one to make possibly the best 3025 assault (definitely top 3, with the Imp and Mad II). By the time of the Clan Invasion, the Banshee concept was pretty well proven and it was one of the first designs to get a Star League tech upgrade, giving us the 5S. Also, speaking of Banshees being underrated, the first time the Banshee-3S saw combat, it was against the Combine. The Dracs saw that the enemy just had Banshees and thought it was easy pickings. The Steiner Banshee pilots only fired the torso PPC while at long range to keep up that appearance. But then when they closed, POW. AC/10, 4 medium lasers, SRM-6. Lit them UP.
God, imagine being the Drac officer who makes the fatal mistake of assuming that the Lyrans are still incompetent. You're gonna have to seppuku yourself, like, FIVE TIMES to atone for that screw-up.
Actually it's the screams of the clanners who got ANNIHILATED by this MONSTER when the new star League got this machine proper weapons. Both the banshee and the charger are incredible designs ruined by the engines, once you give them reasonable engines you have firepower and armor worthy of gods of war
@@PeachDragon_then you remember the Dire Wolf, Executioner, and Kodiak exist. Nevermind Clan Heavies and Mediums that are fast as hell and punch wayyy above their weight.
How to make a stock Banshee-3E work is actually pretty simple: You treat it like it's a morbidly obese medium trooper Mech that happens to be stupid tough and able to throw hands with anything short of an Atlas. Just DON'T ever start believing it's a real assault Mech.
I love the Banshee as a "just good enough to be worth fielding" mech. Especially in mechwarrior 5 , it'll get you through the mission and you won't be too guilty throwing it away after. Even on the tabletop, you won't be too mad if your friend gave you his banshee after a win
The banshee is like the blackjack of assaults. Its ok and that’s about it. And i really really like it. I love how ugly it is and it has weapons that give me options at any range
@@PeachDragon_ I second that. Like the Urbie or the Cyclops if you pour money into it you will get an absolute monster. While I hate the design, I like to refit the BNC-1E on the tabletop so I can have Bad Reputation and Distracting special rules and chuckle at the idea that people are scared of whomever pilots this piece of garbage since they clearly are not right in the head.
@@PeachDragon_ The original production model BNC-3E is not something anyone would be happy receiving as gift. It's main weapons have ranges that don't encourage the kind of in-your-face brawling it's heavy armor and big ol' fists would entail, and the singular small laser always feels like an afterthought. It's like the one gift that gets repeatedly passed around at a white elephant Christmas party. Now the 3S? I'd pilot that.
Banshee is actually one of my preferred mechs to use in the BattleTech Tactical CRPG. I usually split my lance into 2 close-range fighters and 2 long-range fire support, and the Mech is GREAT using that game's rules carefully. It carries only 3 medium lasers, so yes at any range it's terrible, but it's a melee juggernaut, with 6 slots for CC that you stack with small lasers and suddenly you use a super high-accuracy melee attack that costs almost no heat and does over 200 damage (would be over 40 equivalent in the TT version) since Mechs auto-fire all CC weapons when you melee. And that's unaltered. Once you get a +dmg arm upgrade and rare Small Lasers or LosTech ER or Pulse smalls with bonus damage doing 30-35 each and you're looking at a 300-400 damage melee attack. It's BRUTAL
9:34 to sue the Marauder's standard AC5 as an example it's equivalent to three hits from a modern MBT size cannon with lots of future explosives. Remember sometime FASA said a small laser can oneshot a modern MBT
The base model is ok as a Commander's mechs. Thick armor, can contribute at range, moves decently well, and provides a good view of the battlefield. I mean, don't ask it to fight too much, but it has a role. Also, just call it Majesty of Can-opener. We'll all know what that is.
I love how naval warfare uses speed to keep the range open, so that fast battleships could e.g. keep away from destroyers and cruisers well enough to spot torpedoes, but in the Inner Sphere speed is just used to charge headfirst
The Banshee BNC-3S is one of my absolute favorite mechs! Also, when I first started watching these videos, I thought for a while that you were saying, "Jim Marik greetings." Like, who the hell is Jim Marik? But no, generic greetings. 🤣🤣🤣
These were the go to Mechs for my first play through of MW5. The fourth succession war 3S update has more guns than it has any right having. Even on table top, an Atlas is a close combat survivalist, the Highlander is a long range sniper, and the Banshee 3S is a all range monster.
The way the original Banshee plays in game is interesting. Back in the days of balancing by mech weight class it would have some issues. In the days of Battle Value it's actually...kinda good? It's really cheap, only about 200 points more than a lot of *mediums* for something that's mobile, and can melee that hard. It's what the Shadowhawk 2H wishes it was. Middling long range weapons to use while you close to kick things to death. It's way way more effective in 3025 tabletop than I expected it to be. I also literally don't believe the Rifleman 3N can consistently beat a Banshee 3E. It's not *fast enough* to stay out of melee range. You need to be significantly faster than your opponent to actually do that. And at range their effective damage output is basically the same, but the Banshee actually has armor.
For the original Banshee, to get rid of minimum ranges, they should have at least upgraded the AC/5 to an AC/10 and downgraded the PPC to a Large Laser. Don't know what they were thinking. Still love it though.
Drop the AC, add a large laser and two heat sinks. Upgrade the small laser to a medium and a bit of armor. 18 points of damage to anyone coming in and 13 at short range with no ammo. Perfect command unit
"Fifteen tons of heavy metal how-about-no plastered onto it..." I died. This was the best line up until ... um, well, 7:45, cuz that's where I've gotten to so far.
The LAM is actually a fun concept and actually has purpose on the battlefield but the real problem is that table top focuses alot on one off fights and engagements on one or two boards. So the land air mech sees any real use unless in a major campaigns and large scale, like Warhammer table sized, fights.
I remember the first time I used a banshee in the PC battletech game, was up against my friend who saw it and though "Oh, a banshee, its a assault but no heavy weapons, what could it do?" Well, he learned, I had given it a boat load of pigeon lazors with the intent of it going in for fisticuffs. Sprinting it at his lance sent him into a panic, as it first reached his commando. With a one punch plus its array of small lazors his light mech was slag. Nothing left of it lol. It then became target number 1, and he ignored the rest of my lance but with all the weight saved from no big guns I put on all the armor lol. From that day forward, if he detected me with a Banshee, he was sweating bullets XD Was something when he brought a jump jet lance to a city map and he saw I had one. Suddenly he was on top of all the roofs just to stay away from it..... forgetting I can just knock the buildings down with the rest of my lance and have it slag form his mechs XD he just did not know how to handle such a assault sprinting built to punch his face in and nothing else. (Which is a bit of a departure of my normal tactics being of long range and hanging back.) Lazor fist scared him lol
The banshee is a MONSTER. This thing is the scariest assault mech in 3025, and has better damage output than the Atlas. It can beat an atlas rather easily. The Clan invasion version has a decent matchup against clan heavies, even the Mad Cat. The Banshee is my favorite mech, and I will not stand for this SLANDER
Well they are talking about the 3s. I mean the Charger was in the same boat where the default wasn't good. Besides, dps was never the Atlas thing it was survivability. Which is why the DCMS can suck it for putting an sl in that thing.
@@ibysdagon4659I wouldn’t even call the 3S the basic version. It’s not the most common one used in lore and definitely not the most common one used on tabletop
@@ibysdagon4659 Lies the base charger has it's uses... You remove the lasers up the armor and send it screaming at the enemies backline forcing them to choose between shooting the useless low value mech charging at the backline or the other mechs that are following. Or my personal fav the los-tech 1a1 where I give it 4 snubnose ppc and swap the engine and slap as many heatsinks as I can in it.
@@ihaveacookie4226 didnt say it doesn't have its uses, ever mech does even things that didn't really work like the matar or that beta version of the mauler, the doku? But the factory line base charger still sucks. Also, yeah just about every mech has a good or bad variant or something was made from it down the line, like the Hatomoto-Chi is one of my fav 80 ton mechs and that was made from the charger but still feel you would probably save a lot of money and pilots getting anything else.
Honestly, I really love the twin PPC version of the Banshee. It's a great smasher of Light, Medium AND Heavy mechs. With a lot of survivability too. Only really floundering against things in it's own weight class.
In the original box set of Battletech , Mechs could use a Hvy tree , or building debris as a 2 handed club . Mech had to have 2 working hand actuators to use this as a weapon .Trees were one shot weapons . The number of uses from debris was the type of building Light - Medium - Hardened that was used . The great development of a one armed melee weapon [ Axe - Hatchet ] freed up the other arm . Punching- Kicking damaged both the attacker , and defender . Ah the good ole days ..
Ive got one of these in my 3025 company. The pilot that rides in it has melee master, so its got some extra punch. That said, the base 3E is stupid oversinked thanks to its life as a primitive mech. Shouldve been some medium lasers or something instead of those extra sinks
I misplaced the record sheet, but some 30yrs ago I had a 100T monster with a Mace & TSM. The weapons loadout got it just hot enough to activate the TSM. The only component that had a chance to survive if it connected was the CT of an assault mech. Hit an arm? Damage transfer would also take most/all of the side torso.
Well the Mackie was not really meant to last forever, or long for that matter. It's a off the rails tech demo that's 9n steroids and out of control and launched a new era of weapons development.
@@PeachDragon_ the Mackie certainly got the job done and the upgraded version clearly states how it made an impact on the battlefield. But the original, an overpowering tech demonstration that captivated the whole inner sphere.
Consider: You have infantry, armed with modern weapons, supported by 5 tanks. Opposite you is 4 Mackies. Your infantry get blinded or burnt, or otherwise disrupted by lasers outside Anti-Tank range. Ya tanks get bombed by direct fire AC’s and PPC fire. From the building sized war-machines *SHAKING THE EARTH LIKE A TREX* as they charge.
The 3S is just an optimized non Star-League tech model, a few existed for the 4SW. Thr FIVE-S is the lostech version with the 3E's speed and the 3's weapons, but ER and a gauss instead of the AC10
Ahh i remember the Mackie from one of the Novels about Clans where some Clanner had to use it in a duel against a modern clan mech to prove something (though his goal was not to defeat but just reach a specified point and survive in the mackie if i remember correcktly)
slightly more damage output, way more armour, looks evil, steiner. ps: two handactuators for more stylish pugilism, charger has just one hand and a stump pps: about 200 years older as well 🤷♂
A a melee banshee mecher. I love them mech. My personal mech is called jade black and it wields an assault greatsword. And anything and everything that makes it faster, swing faster/harder. And for personal effect, i just say when it moves around the wind that catches it produces the aztech death wistle sound as jade black bares down on another mech getting ready to rip it limb from limb....
Fun fact: the OG banshee’s weapons loadout can be outfitted on to a succession-wars era 50-ton mech with enough heat sinks to fire all of its weapons while running every turn! The desire to move at the battle line formation speed of the time is an understandable, but not to the point where it makes it a boondoggle.
The Banshee makes complete sense in context. Personally my belief is that they planned on producing handheld weapons for it, but as with most things to do with the military industrial complex, those weapons were cancelled, leaving it woefully under gunned. A tactically flexible platform, which could switch roles on the fly by picking up it dropping weapons, would have been a game changer even as Mechs changed the rules already.
I kinda want to see a mech hyper-optimized for brawling. Make it an assault mech, equip it with only anti-infantry weapons, and invest the rest of the tonage in speed, armor, and punching force. Call it the Jock.
At the risk of sounding snobbish, on MW5 by the time I started seeing the earlier banshees I hadn’t been so desperate as to use one in a long time. Kinda wish I’d come across it earlier.

Imagine the first time a clanner let a Canopian model walk up to him, expecting the light slap of a prepubescent, polio stricken boy. Only to be sucker punched by mike tyson.
Kinda makes you wonder why no one thought... "Hey why don't we turn these useless walking tanks into useful treaded ones?" Like why does it seem harder to scrap mechs then to build modify them?
Few mistakes made. BNC-5S isn't any faster than BNC-3E. Between them is BNC-3S which is slower, but has lower tech armament of BNC-5S (normal engine, normal PPCs, AC/10). 'Mechs with equal armament of BNC-3E don't weigh a third less; they weigh half less and have much less armor, if little more mobility: TBT-7K & ENF-4R. In a duel between BNC-3E and RFL-3N, Rifleman can dish out 18 points of damage per turn with its autocannons and 1 Large Laser without overheating (unless it moves) against Banshee's 15 points of damage with PPC and autocannon. Difference in damage output is much less than difference in armor. When BNC-3E gets into melee range, it can still fire at another target behind its melee target. PPC & AC/5 combo against target some 5 hexes away AND small laser & 2 fists at 'Mech right in its face scores max 38 points of damage!!! THAT is something! Oh fine, Thug can melee 16 point kicks AND blast away with double PPCs elsewhere while having equal speed, near equal armor, AND double SRM 4s. It's objectively better overall, but one can't have enough assault 'Mechs. Awesome? It's slower and thus most Banshees can outrun it to escape.
You see, this is the type of corrective or critical comment I like to get. Someone who just provides technical corrections and information like a decent adult. So I took the time to read and respond to it. I'll try to rush less, make sure my model information is accurate as best I can, and try to keep comparisons similarly accurate. Unlike the other guy who got his comments deleted because he was slurring me out and calling me a "fake" fan who shouldn't be making content. Screw that guy.
@@scienceinsanity6927 Respect. It occurred to me that combinations of BNC-3E's speed, armor, and primary weapon range makes it relatively survivable compared to many other 'Mechs. It should make BNC-3E a worthy consideration for field commanders, who want to keep up with heavy 'Mechs and remain operational while less armored Marauders and Warhammers fall around them. Of course Thug is just as worthy (if not better) for the job if there would be enough of them.
I think you guys would like my build, 2 snubs, clan lb10x, mrm 30, maxed out hardened armor, 58kph run speed, all black, targeting computer, clan dhs, endo, some other goodies I'm sure I forgot about
On a previous stream your co-host mentioned transformers. That got me thinking. I would like to see a fight either between an amalgamated comic's version of Megatron(darkhorse, idw uk og comic) all of them are bad-ass. for example one of them went one on one with predaking the combined form of the predacons, one of only 2 combiner groups that don't turn into a mindless brute when combined and won. Vs an Atlas piloted by a great pilot, or a king crab piloted by one. Or The Decepticons in general vs any one faction in the inner sphere.
The problem with the Banshee was the same problem with the Charger: Trying to make a big thing go fast is expensive. Not only in C-Bills, but in utility. The Pitban 380 that powers the BNC-3E weighs 41 tons, almost half of the 'mech's overall weight. And that only pushes it to a 4/6/0 movement profile. Whereas the Charger suffered more from this exchange with its mind-boggling 52.5 ton LTV 400, it also had a ridiculous mission to begin with. The Banshee never should've been considered for anything faster than 3/5/0 as a proper breakthrough battlemech. And when its engine is downsized to fit that profile, the Banshee becomes a _scary_ machine. That speed requires a 285 rated engine, which only weighs 16.5 tons, freeing up 24.5 tons, which is why the BNC-3S is such a beast.
Early Banshee is armed perfectly. You have to keep your allies handy and rely on teamwork to make the dream work. She's beefy though. Banshee a brawler. "Time for a fisting"
The Banshee was awesome compared to the Mackie, as the Mackie had so much primitive equipment, I am surprised they pilots didn't need to carry a walkie-talkie. The main issue the Banshee had was it was an early design when battle mech development was blooming and moving into a golden age. The Banshee to me is a bit like a victor... , but the victor has an AC/20 :)
If you want total insanity, give one of these a hatchet and TSM. Oh look, a 95ton mech that can (under the right circumstances) run at 90kph and swing an axe for 38 damage. Now hold still...
hayo, recent buyer of the IS heavy lance. i saw this thing's BNC-12S version (aka model) and was like "holy shit that's a lot of guns" only to find out that before the dark age, this thing was next to useless on the battlefield. like, it LOOKS cool as fuck, but it's model is one of the rare few cases where it doesn't line up with an available version of it for the base game.
The XL Engine is not Extra-Large, it's Extra-Light. An XL Engine weighs half of what a regular engine does, but is far bulkier taking up extra space in the side torsos. This is risk vs. reward, you can put in a beefier engine than otherwise normal getting more speed out of a Mech, but greatly increasing the vulnerabiilty of the Mech as three points of damage anywhere will wreck the engine and taking out the machine.
I am a firm believer in the line that there is no such thing as a bad Mech it is how you use it that matters for example the banshee is not a bad assault Mech it is a walking wall. If you use it as one have all your other Mechs behind it and let it tank fire it is perfect and it is amazing machine it is just a walking fortress wall. I have literally had more than one MechWarrior 5 mission where it was literally the last Mech standing every single time. And of course then you have the terrifying one the banshee 3S.
Honestly, I know it's not really an accurate statement because they are manufactured in completely different times. But I look at the banshee and see a rough attempt at a 90 ton Panther as far as capability goes.
Now look at them Steiners That's the way you do it Upgun your Banshee with a PPC No, that ain't working That's the way you do it Get your C-Bills for nothing and your crits for free
Standard Banshee might have been better with the Enforcer's guns. No minimum range on the LL and AC10 to let them join in the melee. And a slightly higher overall alpha, but at a shorter range
Now hold on, a Clint isn't the worst thing you could get. A 40 ton medium with an AC5 and a pair of medium lasers is hardly the worst, the problem is that it was purpose built to have mechanical issues that could only be solved with proprietary parts that the manufacturer made, and ONLY the manufacturer. It's rare that a company intentionally makes a lemon, but when it's designed to be sold on purpose to the Periphery who can't say no, then suddenly it makes a lot of sense.
The Banshee's engine is too large which results in a faster-than-normal, but undergunned unit. Theres quite a lot of those in 3025 standards. Ever hear of the Charger? Its an 80ton "scout" mech armed only with 5 Small Lasers and 10 tons of armor. In 3025 without Extralight Engines basically all Assault Mechs have to be more or less the same. The Awesome and Longbow are tough fire support units. The Atlas is a mostly close range unit, but has long range missiles so long as it had ammunition. Fast Assault mechs will have low firepower. The Battlemaster has just 1 PPC as its primary weapons and a lot of close-range weapons. The Zeus is relatively modestly armed and low armor. There are variants for the Banshee that are pretty capable, beginning with the BNC-3S. It has more than double the firepower compared to the original BNC-3E model, at the expense of about 16% slower in maximum speed. Then you have the BNC-5S, upgraded to use lostech. It has Double Heat Sinks, Extended Range PPCs, a Gauss Rifle, and an XL engine to have all that firepower and the original BNC-3e's speed. Can't forget it still has a lot of close range weapons like the BNC-3S. The downside is that its real expensive with a high power XL Engine.
Ah, yes, the Banshee... where one of my other comments SHOULD have been! A well-built Banshee should be as much of a threat as a Hunchback, scaled up ton for ton. They're insanely economical. EDIT: Wait... I regularly mained an insanely deadly Banshee in MW5... I often wondered how my lance would go up against the Clans, but... ignoring my build to be the last one to take down? Oh... What a dreadful mistake I wouldn't dare to correct. I didn't realise how much pulverising I'd get in...
The Black Pants Legion would disagree with you entirely regarding the Mackie. That's like saying the Model T Ford is garbage in hindsight. And certainly, compared to any modern car, the Model T would seem terrible but it was the 1st, the prototype. But it's not fair to compare the prototype to later, improved versions.
25:00 they absolutely could have done 80% of the 5S without recovered starleague tech. The 3S is the same loadout but the PPCs are non-ER and the gauss is just an AC10, downside is it moves standard assaultmech speed of 3-5.
The primitive Banshee 1E was better armed than the Banshee 3-E. There was no reason to remove the two medium lasers when they "updated" the mech. The 3E certainly didn't need 16 heatsinks with its weapons loadout. In battle the Banshee is a disappointment but for a small unit the Banshee doubles as the recovery vehicle. Two fully articulated arms and a massive engine allows it to drag home downed mechs.
before watching this video i'm just gonna say, i really like the banshee. Its the a medium mech who had a weird growth spurt and doesn't really fit in with the rest of the guys lol

"This image is not lore accurate." Ok. This guy is talking out his ass...
A refit banshee is an eldritch monster not "good enough" much like how a Solaris charger is a raid boss
'Head lasers...' Never thought they were a good idea for ANY 'mech.
Don't have to worry about them getting knocked out. They *can* get destroyed of course, but if they do your troubles are over anyways so why worry?
The MW5 version of the Banshee is stupidly cool, supercharged engine with Large Chemical Lasers.
I love how naval warfare uses speed to keep the range open, so that fast battleships could e.g. keep away from destroyers and cruisers well enough to spot torpedoes, but in the Inner Sphere speed is just used to charge headfirst
The Banshee is one of my favorite mechs, thanks for making this one.
The Banshee BNC-3S is one of my absolute favorite mechs! Also, when I first started watching these videos, I thought for a while that you were saying, "Jim Marik greetings." Like, who the hell is Jim Marik? But no, generic greetings. 🤣🤣🤣
BNC-3S “Am I a joke to you?”
The YAML Banshee is a monster when built for melee. God, I love it.
For the original Banshee, to get rid of minimum ranges, they should have at least upgraded the AC/5 to an AC/10 and downgraded the PPC to a Large Laser. Don't know what they were thinking. Still love it though.
Literally could swap weapons with an Enforcer and see a marked improvement for the banshee and not a huge downgrade for the enforcer.
Drop the AC, add a large laser and two heat sinks. Upgrade the small laser to a medium and a bit of armor. 18 points of damage to anyone coming in and 13 at short range with no ammo. Perfect command unit
"Fifteen tons of heavy metal how-about-no plastered onto it..."
I died. This was the best line up until ... um, well, 7:45, cuz that's where I've gotten to so far.
As but a humble subscrier I beseech thee; a video on the mighty phenomina known as the Land Air Mech, in all its goofiness and glory!
The LAM is actually a fun concept and actually has purpose on the battlefield but the real problem is that table top focuses alot on one off fights and engagements on one or two boards. So the land air mech sees any real use unless in a major campaigns and large scale, like Warhammer table sized, fights.
I agree. The lAM is the epitome of deep strike and reconnaissance. But they hold a stigma in the hobby thanks to folks who lack imagination.
@@georgeremero4982 yeah, min maxers can ruin alot of things.

Why did i find this chanel only now ... Keep it up guys.
I agree intros are so '10s here in the '20s we just hit record and go like the viewer just stepped into the convocation!
I remember the first time I used a banshee in the PC battletech game, was up against my friend who saw it and though "Oh, a banshee, its a assault but no heavy weapons, what could it do?"
Well, he learned, I had given it a boat load of pigeon lazors with the intent of it going in for fisticuffs.
From that day forward, if he detected me with a Banshee, he was sweating bullets XD
Was something when he brought a jump jet lance to a city map and he saw I had one. Suddenly he was on top of all the roofs just to stay away from it..... forgetting I can just knock the buildings down with the rest of my lance and have it slag form his mechs XD he just did not know how to handle such a assault sprinting built to punch his face in and nothing else. (Which is a bit of a departure of my normal tactics being of long range and hanging back.)
Lazor fist scared him lol
The banshee is a MONSTER. This thing is the scariest assault mech in 3025, and has better damage output than the Atlas. It can beat an atlas rather easily. The Clan invasion version has a decent matchup against clan heavies, even the Mad Cat. The Banshee is my favorite mech, and I will not stand for this SLANDER
Well they are talking about the 3s. I mean the Charger was in the same boat where the default wasn't good. Besides, dps was never the Atlas thing it was survivability. Which is why the DCMS can suck it for putting an sl in that thing.
I will admit the
Early version replacing the oversized 380 for a 285, if my math is right, engine made it a proper assault mech.
I'd take a Banshee over the Mackie anyday. Especially since the Banshee got a lot more mileage over the centuries.
Well the Mackie was not really meant to last forever, or long for that matter. It's a off the rails tech demo that's 9n steroids and out of control and launched a new era of weapons development.
@@eddapultstab2078i gotta say tho, the mackie isn't nearly as bad as you'd expect, if only because it's 100 tons
@@PeachDragon_ the Mackie certainly got the job done and the upgraded version clearly states how it made an impact on the battlefield. But the original, an overpowering tech demonstration that captivated the whole inner sphere.
Consider:
You have infantry, armed with modern weapons, supported by 5 tanks.
I realy want more of your battletech Videos they are awesome and thank you so much
The 3S is just an optimized non Star-League tech model, a few existed for the 4SW. Thr FIVE-S is the lostech version with the 3E's speed and the 3's weapons, but ER and a gauss instead of the AC10
Just joined the Discord, Thanks for the reminder Steve ❤
"Mom, can we get an atlas?"
"We have assault mechs at home"
The assault mech at home:
14:00 wait a minute, PPCs arent explosive. You're thinking of the PPC Capacitor, or maybe Gauss Rifles.
Oh no! I can shoot all my weapons and still punch you twice with my Assault Mech!
Ahh i remember the Mackie from one of the Novels about Clans where some Clanner had to use it in a duel against a modern clan mech to prove something (though his goal was not to defeat but just reach a specified point and survive in the mackie if i remember correcktly)
I can fit 6 large x-pulse lasers on one, which makes it amusing.
I feel the mech video after this should be about the Charger. Probably the only assault mech that had less firepower than the banshee hehe
Happy Remembrance/Veteran's Day everyone! Good to see Steve is back! Also, Banshee is a worse version of the Charger. Change my mind.
slightly more damage output, way more armour, looks evil, steiner.
ps: two handactuators for more stylish pugilism, charger has just one hand and a stump
pps: about 200 years older as well 🤷♂
A a melee banshee mecher.
The Steiner Banshee was the the best ones
Fun fact: the OG banshee’s weapons loadout can be outfitted on to a succession-wars era 50-ton mech with enough heat sinks to fire all of its weapons while running every turn! The desire to move at the battle line formation speed of the time is an understandable, but not to the point where it makes it a boondoggle.
aw i love the quotes at the start of the vids
The fact that Kurita didn't come up with the melee monster variant before the religious nuts is a most... shameful display.
The true 0 to hero mech of battletech
Considering this was probably among the first 10(?) actual batlemechs designed it works surprisingly well.

Anyhow, the fact that my ridiculously underestimated upvote was earned in under one-half-minute? You should be proud of yourselves, in addition to the obvious gratitude & validation you received from my vote.
Love the Banshee. From zero to hero!
That last one.... that's no Zaku boy...
Weird. I was just playing my Banshee in MWO, then I see this in my feed.
Imagine the first time a clanner let a Canopian model walk up to him, expecting the light slap of a prepubescent, polio stricken boy. Only to be sucker punched by mike tyson.
13:41 uhm ackshually, point blank range just means the range at which the projectile will hit without adjusting the aim, it doesn't mean close range
Kinda makes you wonder why no one thought... "Hey why don't we turn these useless walking tanks into useful treaded ones?" Like why does it seem harder to scrap mechs then to build modify them?
I don't get your point
Of course Thug is just as worthy (if not better) for the job if there would be enough of them.
great. 3:49 the mackie reminds me of the amogus drip meme. my humor is fucked.
I think you guys would like my build, 2 snubs, clan lb10x, mrm 30, maxed out hardened armor, 58kph run speed, all black, targeting computer, clan dhs, endo, some other goodies I'm sure I forgot about
I like the Banshee for being bad, they can't all be perfect. And the Lyrans gave them a nice refurbishing until they became quite dangerous.
Well, it is a basic rule of thumb that the stravag dogs of the inner sphere cannot build a competent battlemech.
Would you be willing to do an episode about Robotech Battloids, Veritech Guardian mode fighters, & Zentraedi Battlepods?
I do like the PGI one, always a fan of a mech looking like your average alcoholic
Or
The Decepticons in general vs any one faction in the inner sphere.
@ 11:14 who thought the banshee needs 6 fingers? (right hand)
If you're going to go with a Banshee, just get a Charger and do the psychotic run and punch the right way.
How you banshee is stripp all weapons and just turn it into a discoball of medium or small lasers, depending on the game.
Here's how I'd refit the 3E.
Replace the ppc with medium lasers and the install a bigger autocannon.
Using The Wolftrap to not hunt Wolfhounds is ironically its best usage.
Shotgun banshee, add doomslayer paint. (Angry music intensifies)
Honestly, I know it's not really an accurate statement because they are manufactured in completely different times. But I look at the banshee and see a rough attempt at a 90 ton Panther as far as capability goes.
Now look at them Steiners
That's the way you do it
Upgun your Banshee with a PPC
No, that ain't working
That's the way you do it
Get your C-Bills for nothing and your crits for free
I myself would of used the oldschool banshee as mobile base artilery and thats literaly it. Give er nothin but an AC10 and just sit back and fire away
The wall of guns
Perfect compliment to some can't sleep MW5
So this thing is was Grampa Charger at first. Got it.
It's more durable than the 5S though because of the standard engine. Not a fan of Inner Sphere XLs generally.
I refuse to pilot a Banshee, I don't care if it is the last mech in the hanger, I REFUSE!
Hey, now, I love my rifleman. My custom rifleman with gauss guns and medium lasers. Let me snipe you from beyond your radar range.
Love this one.
before watching this video i'm just gonna say, i really like the banshee. Its the a medium mech who had a weird growth spurt and doesn't really fit in with the rest of the guys lol
XL engine isn't an extra large engine it's an extra light engine
Newbie to MW here, but why the Banshee's head design look similar like Halo's Mjolnir helmet?
Rule of cool applies. (Even the guys who designed this skyscraping boondoggle know if it looks cool you should do it)
