  • Last Voyage of the Demeter has been out about six months now, and I'm still getting regular requests for a movie review ... so I'm a little late to the party, but better late than never, right?!
The Last Voyage of the Demeter is the new supernatural horror film based on a chapter from Bram Stoker's Dracula, taking place on the ship transporting Dracula from Transylvania to England.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter is directed by Andre Ovredal and stars Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, David Dastmalchian, Chris Walley, Jon Jon Briones, Stefan Kapicic, Martin Furulund, Nikolai Nikolaeff, Woody Norman, and Javier Botet.
Watch to see my opinion on this iteration of Dracula, how I think he measures up to Bela Lugosi's Dracula, and whether I think a classic Dracula fan should watch.

I honestly assumed Dracula was feral in this film because he was starving. He already seemed to be somewhat more human at the end.

Not perfect but I still loved it
This and WolfMan(2010) are how I wish Universal would do a "modern" shared universe

I heard about this film a few years ago and had been waiting anxiously for it. I'm ot saying that I was disappointed, but it could have been a lot better. Murnau handled the same story-section so much better in Nosferatu.

It did not do well at the box-office in the summer of 2023, but I feel that this movie will have a following (cult following) in the years to come.

Hi, Antonia 😊 have you done a video yet discussing the Philip Glass score for the 1931 Dracula? I just rewatched the film recently with that score and am kinda warming up to it

Sadly, this movie's release was ill timed. It made just a little bit more than it cost to make. I really enjoyed it.

I so would've preferred them to never discover the nature of Dracula. Of course we would know, but to see them consumed by the fear of the unknown would've been more effectively chilling in my opinion.
Thanks for the review, my dude! 10/10 fricheks

I really enjoyed this film! I found that it was way more dark than I initially thought (content wise). Thanks for the review!

I saw this in theaters with my mom and she was disappointed to see Dracula as a humanoid bat monster, and this was after we saw the Invitation starring Thomas Dorthey and Natalie Emmanuel, which I totally recommend seeing despite not be great.

I am always gripped by your reviews of how modern horror relates to the classic output of your family's studio. As far as I am concerned, yours is the final word! That being said, I am absolutely anti-vampire, so I will never view any film with such content, despite your endorsement. Nevertheless, I will always attentively come here for your opinions! ⚰
