In spring, it is the dawn. The slowly paling edge of the hills is touched with red, and wisps of purple cloud trail in the sky. In summer, the night. Moonlit nights, of course, and the dark of night, too, when many fireflies flit about it is also delightful when one or two glow softly, and rain on a summer night is lovely. In autumn, the evening. As the blazing sun sinks close to the edge of the hills, crows fly home to their nest in threes and fours or twos and threes, moving sight. More charming still is a file of wind geese, specks in the distant sky. When the sun has set, there is something inexpressible in the sound of the wind and the singing of insects. In winter, the early morning. If snow has fallen, it is beautiful, but white frost is lovely, and it is pleasant even when there is no snow of frost but it is simply very cold and people bury around stirring up fire and bringing charcoal. But as the day draws on and the air warms up, the fire in the brazier fires down to white ash, most unpleasant.
A long time ago my mother tell me a story of the unknown dragon of the west and east wind, the dragon of the west and east was the most beautiful dragon of all the lands and everyone love her, the dragon of the west and east wind trivial the land spreading live across the land until she pass into the dragon of the north wind territory, the great north wind dragon say in a unplease voice "dragon of the west and east wind what are you doing in my territory" the dragon of the west and east tell the north wind dragon she was just passing though but the north wind dragon didn't believe her and think she was here to take his land, the north wind dragon attack the west and east wind dragon, after the battle the north wind dragon won and left her for dead but the the dragon of the south wind come to the west and east wind dragon using his power to heal and he tell her "ooohh dear dragon of the west and east wind I have save your life but my brother can not know that your still alive so I will turn you human so you can hide from him" using his power he turn the dragon into a human girl so she can hide from the north wind dragon.
Depends on your interests. I really enjoyed it, enough to read it several times, and now I'm looking forward to listening to it. It's a complex story with a lot of cultural insights. Excellent writing.
The problem is also the language. Is the English suitable? I doubt it. German is by far superior to express the original Japanese than English. The top is however French: " Le Dit du Genji". There is a wonderful book on this translated French version entailing all paintings from the many centuries on the subject " Genji ". There isn't a Japanese original expressing such great arts.
it's unfortunate you're so ungrateful for this mindblowing website that has a huge library of books for you to feed your brain for just an internet bill.

The footnotes being read after the fact unfortunately makes it confusing as to what they're referencing.
