    Yes! I love passing things on to my neighbors. The best part is you never know what someone might need. We recently upgraded our interior door knobs, so I listed the old ones on our towns facebook group for free. My husband was insistent no one would want them, but someone came to pick them up in just a couple of hours. It’s nice knowing we helped someone in our community and that the door knobs are going to continue being used.

    Also, if you have craft items you need to declutter, you can see if there is a local secondhand shop !

    I always do the same. Or leave it neatly in a paper bag next to the trash bins, and normally someone picks it up (Spain)

      In Germany it'll be a box that says "Zu Verschenken" which is like "as a gift" basically meaning for free, in more suburb-like areas it'll be near the driveway or gate of a home, in city like areas, for example my area in Berlin, the box will simply sit by the entrance of the building on the sidewalk 😊
      I love it, because it being a common custom means that if I see something near a trash pile, I can assume there is a reason for example pet or water damage, where as if it's with the Zu Verschenken box, I can trust its relatively clean

      @@julijepp I love that! I lived in Germany (Munich area) and my neighbours had one. Got so many things I needed from them. When I had to move back home, I did the same with everything I hadn't sold yet.

    Sadly, my city has a very inactive buy-nothing group. Make me sad as no one takes stuff or asks for things

    Friendly reminder that thrift stores still create waste because not everything will be resold. Some will outright dump. Some will give them away. Others- like Goodwill- will send them to pound stores.. where things not sold there get dumped often. It's another reason to be mindful when donating, too. Unfortunately, it's a growing issue.

    Shelby! Where do you refill your laundry detergent and soaps now that Luxe is closed!? I need help!

    • @Shelbizleee
      @Shelbizleee  6 месяцев назад +3

      I use Fillaree for my dish soap & I use Dropps for my laundry detergent but Parker & Scott is a good place to check locally for sustainable alternatives. So bummed about Luxe but hoping we can combine a refill shop with other products to help it last longer in the future!

    I freaking love buy nothing, it helps me get rid of excess stuff whilst removing the guilt typically associated with that.
