  • Walking around the back streets of Cuenca in December 2023. I guess this is as close as you'll ever get to a Christmas video from me (I don't celebrate Christmas *Gasp, Heathen!) There is a lot of video of the Christmas decorations for sale at various markets, and there is actually a shot of Santa on the street!
This is not just another video about the Cuenca New Cathedral. Everybody's seen that before. This video shows you what the rest of Cuenca looks like.
I'm experimenting with different royalty free music platforms. I think this music suits the video and makes it fun. There'll be more different music in upcoming videos.
Music in this video is from:
    teknoaxe.com/Home.php
    When the music goes around
    teknoaxe.com/Link_Code_3.php?...
    Piccolo and a Cane
    teknoaxe.com/Link_Code_3.php?...
    The Man from Harlem
    teknoaxe.com/Link_Code_3.php?...
I hope you enjoy this video! If you do and you want to buy me a coffee I would absolutely love that! You can do that at this link here:

LADA sighting! I like that Cuenca has a Tram. Its route goes from an industrial park, passed the airport, then downtown, and then down the middle of a fourlane avenue towards the southwest. If you live in the north, northwest, or southeast, you are plumb out of luck.

Thanks for sharing Alvey and yes, much, much more than a cathedral....
I love the murials, the street life, the people...the entire athmosphere...so human/normal🌹
Dublin was a complete nightmare today - the day for the Dubliners to buy food and drink as if there were no tomorrow....the city was like a war zone..similar to when the plandemic started and, in minutes all toilet paper was hovered...
As I don't spend x-mas it felt close to a bomb attack and, I fled home to my book and a glas of wine and, will be slumped in a cchair - enjoying the peace while the Dubliners kill each other over a packet of butter.
    Cuenca looks like heaven...💕💓💕
Thanks again for sharing and, enjoy your days off 👍👍👍

Wow mate, that sounds absolutely bananas in Dublin! I'm happy to hear you got home to some peace and quiet. Enjoy your glass of wine and I'll raise a glass for you myself. Salud mi amiga :)

Great video. Just got back from Ecuador a month ago with a lot of our time in Cuenca. Recognized several places in the video. Thanks.

I've had this in my "Watch Later" since it came out and I finally got a chance to watch it! I love the juxtaposition between old and new in well-lived cities! 😊

    Hi Alvey
I just arrived to my airbnb in Loja from cuenca. As if on cue, i hear the loud sound of thunder 😅
It is my first experience with it since i arrived in ecuador. Maybe you have a point.
Thus far, i was in quito for 2 days, otavalo for 2 days (with an afternoon in Cotacachi), banos for 2 days and cuenca for 3 days. I have liked every city thus far. Hopefully, i will like Loja as well.
    Thumbs up for your vlog.work.
    Jerry Garcia
(i created a new ecuadoran account due to my optimism of making the big move here).

And damned if the forecast called for rain all 4 days thatni was here!!!! And every day we received a little bit of rain to alot of rain. It is really amazing the microclimates that you can experience in evem a small town like Loja. One minute you are walking and breaking a sweat; you round a corner and it is instantly 15 degrees colder!!!

Thanks for watching! No, I just walked everywhere, looking for interesting things to photograph or video. It's cool though, isn't it?

Do you like Cuenca or Loja better?

    • @Alvey_en_Ecuador
      @Alvey_en_Ecuador  7 месяцев назад +2

Hmmm. Tough question. I'd say it rains too much for my liking in both cities. So, while Cuenca is beautiful and there's much more to do than here in Loja, I wouldn't be happy there either because of the constant rain. I'm moving to the coast to get away from the rain :)

I’m in loja now, having spent 3 days in Cuenca. Loja is much smaller and very tranquil. The drive from Cuenca to loja is rather amazing. Lots of green mountains with wide open spaces scattered about; alot of green and fertile land.
Cuenca is an absolute gem of a city. Much larger and faster paced; lots of traffic.
Rain hit the town upon my arrival in loja; it rained most of my first night and 3 hours of my first morning.
Alvey, an American at the sunrise cafe on Calle larga told me of a spot close to a Peruvian ridge that features dryer weather with less of a daily temperature range (60-78 degrees F) flocculation.
