When you're deprived of sensory input it is common to have hallucinations, because your brain is compensating. Faces (especially distorted ones like Rhett was describing) are one of the most common hallucinations because of how much energy your brain uses to look for and process faces. It's common in old people who have partially lost their eyesight.
The video of them visiting the house and going into the tank reminded me of a found footage horror flick. Something like "Sensory Deprivation: Experiencing nothing, invites something."
Would have been great if one of them came to get the other out of the tank in a minute and told him it had been an hour. I would love to see that reaction.
I go to the sensory deprivation tank a couple times a month. I was using it as a place to meditate, to increase my training and healing. I was using it to overcome my anxiety and depression through achieving a state of non-attachment with the material world. All anxiety is rooted in the future expectation of suffering. Primitively the brain makes indirect associations between a state of affairs and death. So, losing your job, or your upcoming interview, and so on, are indirectly associated with death based on primitive neural pathways. When our sense of self is existentially tied to the material world, then something that threatens our existence in the material world is felt as anxiety. To experience nothing is to experience "non-attachment." The mind is not empirically reducable, rather, it is transcendent. Once you enter the void, your sense of self, as we define it materially, disappears. The mind expands into infinity. This experience conditions the mind. Repeated training conditions the mind away from attachment.
I wish I could find one close to me. I can completely remove myself from my physical consciousness of my body. My method is is to mimic my breathing and collecting and directing all the energy starting at the top of my head and imagine it a fluid and starting a wave of that energy at the top of my head and splashing it letting its waves move to my toes. till at one point at stimulus from my body is gone. Sound is the last to go.
+MasterKeiya More people should value happiness over material success. Not many people understand spiritual, religious, or life changing experiences (whatever label you want to use) because they haven't ever experienced it. Plato's Allegory of the Cave is the perfect analogy for this kind of thing.
Sheep Studios it really is pretty low if you intend to spend that many hours in a pod under someone's house. Especially if you'd get a good experience after 1 hour.
I appreciate what Rhett was saying about RLS because I've thought about doing the sensory deprivation thing but I would worry about the twitching in my legs that would compel me to move, and if I feel trapped, it gets way worse. So the fact that you can push the door open easily is comforting and so is Rhett's experience. Thanks guys. I love how your videos are so versatile and cover so many things I haven't even thought about before. Keep it up!
DamageIncM dude, i feel you so much. i would want to do this tank thing and then come out and try to make up a new music genre. i would fail miserably but it would be a really fun thing to try.
I think I know what Rhett is talking about when he said he saw faces. When I was younger (under the age of 5) every night before I fell asleep I would see shapes dance in the air. They didn't have any color but they were grainy images. Sometimes I did make out faces but they weren't clear. The reason why I wasn't freaked out was because I had the sensation that I was controlling what I saw, but not controlling whether or not I saw things at all. I stopped seeing things around when I turned 5 or 6. 0_o
I see things all the time (including the slight whisper everyone in awhile) still including silhouettes of ppl either against walls or just very faint outlines free standing in the dark other times I see shadows move ever so slightly where there shouldnt be a shadow
I used to have this sort of thing until i was like 8-10, expect it was a lot more violent, it used to be stuff like evil people/ "Real Monsters" that would chase me, and i never had control of my dreams, Except nothing would ever happen, i would just see these grainy 2d images which sort of stared at me.
Another great thing about isolation tanks is the more you do it, the "better" you get at it, and the more of a profound experience, or "further" you can let your mind go. Highly recommend building one. The effects Rhett had are what you should expect, as your brain isn't receiving any outward influences, no distractions, so there's only one place left to go. If Link was more comfortable, especially without the wound, it would have been very similar.
Has anyone ever had or heard of sleep paralysis? Well it is where you are asleep but your mind is still active. When you do get this sleep paralysis you are awake and asleep, your body is paralysed, and you can see 1 maybe 2 or 3 dark figures coming towards you and the only thing your mind can think to do is call for help... but you are still conscious and are aware of what is happening and after it is over you will wake up and remember all of it... wierd huh
Harry Greenaway Yes, in fact most psychologists believe that's what is happening during what people think are alien abduction experiences and other paranormal activity in the night
Brendan Beckett No, your brain just makes that up because your body is still paralyzed from the REM sleep. I've felt sleep paralysis and It felt like demon's were around me or something, but then I snapped out of it and nothing was wrong.
Brendan Beckett I get it just when falling asleep at night, sometimes they slowly fade in and It doesn't bother me. But occasionally they come unexpected and it makes me jump, thus waking me up. When I was younger It used to feel like the faces were trying to scare me but as I got older it stopped being creepy. The whole sleep/dreaming thing is fascinating to me.
The hallucination about the faces could have been phosphenes. The nervous system in the eyes is somehow activated and you begin to see lines, patterns even colors and faces.
HighLighterlines When I was little I used to rub my eyes until I saw colors (Which I did) and it changed from black to pink to green and then white and then I would open my eyes and everything looked like a million pixels. (sorry I told you this. Your comment reminded me of it O-O)
I sometimes get these sensory deprivation feelings before falling asleep. I get this feeling that I am rolling or shaking back and forth but I am just usually laying on my side and falling asleep.
Its called a hypnagogic state. Wikipedia has a pretty good article on it. Basically is the same brain state as lucid dreaming and sleep walking. That sort of half asleep state. ***** Basically what you described is a real thing. Look up lucid dreaming.
I think Link mentioned he felt like he was spinning, well sometimes I get really bad vertigo where it can almost make me fall. It's not like being dizzy, it's completely different. It's just like a loss of balance all the sudden. Sometimes I get it when I'm laying down and it's pretty cool because I feel like I'm like floating.
***** How did you learn to access that on command? I want to be able to make it stop when it happens because it's annoying. I can lucid dream, but I can't control those bad sensations of twisting and falling.
So this segment of good mythical morning has always been my favorite. And over three months ago I got to actually experience a sensory deprivation tank. And I legitimately saw a vivid depiction of Robin Williams. And I’m just now watching this again and floating was the best thing I’ve ever done in all honesty. But I probably wouldn’t have done it if it weren’t for our boys here!
It feels like that feeling between awake and asleep where you want “five more minutes, mom”. I felt like I was in a womb. It’s definitely trippy. I felt nostalgic and wanted to go back in. After, my senses were “heightened”. The air tasted stronger, smelled stronger. It was amazing. 100% would do it again.
I really enjoy how you explain new experiences. It's so funny. It's also very fun to watch best friends finish each others sentences, you guys are great guys.
I've recently started floating in a SDT here in Baltimore. The experience is out of this world! I too saw hallucinations, I heard voices too. All in all, it is a transformative experience and I think everyone should try it at least once. It's incredible to just be totally alone, just you and your mind. I feel like I connected with my core self on a completely different level than what I experience during my meditation practice. It's just peace, calm, serenity, and comfort. I looooove floating! I hope you go again and enjoy going deeper into your selves and finding your inner life force.
Any one else think that Link seems a bit spooked by the experience? That laugh he gave when he came out was somewhat of a shrooms laugh for sure(not that he had taken anything).
Not only the look on both of "y'all's" faces, but your demeanor as well after the fact were so chilled out, I'm making my appointment... Just moved back to this glorious place (Cali) from Raleigh and could surely use an hour to chill. Thanks guys!
Everyone experiences a DMT trip every time they have dreams. And since they were in pitch black with none of their senses their brain began to think they were asleep and thus began the hallucinations.
MercuryManProduction have any of you done dmt? look up this movie. it`s on netflix. "DMT: The Spirit Molecule" dmt might be a gateway to other dimensions, breaking through time and space. seriously it`s not that far fetched when you open your eyes to it and do some research. look up videos. erowid is a great source for experience logs of any drug really as well. also look at the harmful effects of fluoride and decalifying your pinneal gland (basically the window to your soul)
teenage dirtbag as a possible future user, I have done my research and honestly these people would not understand what DMT is or its potential unless they themselves discover it.
I've experienced a similar thing to what Rhett is describing in the video, the very first time I experienced sleep paralysis. It was so creepy, but on the other hand, it was so fascinating at the same time. Hallucinations are weird.
I'll probably never be able to relax in such a situation due to my my constant tinnitus, my various disorders and anxieties and my brain that basically never shuts up..
***** that sounds like depression.. I have both anxiety and depression and OCD and some other crap too so it's kinda more complicated than that.. they coexist somehow.. I hope you find something or someone that can excite you again and that you feel better soon! I know things seem really shitty sometimes but don't give up looking for that!
Link's skepticism of Rhett hallucinating really shows how analytical he is. Sensory-deprivation causes hallucinations in all kinds of people even if they have no predisposition to psychosis. Your brain doesn't know what to do when it's completely starved of sensory input, so it literally creates sensory experiences. It's similar to dreaming, honestly.
It's actually a documented phenomenon that often people who are deprived of their senses will have visual and/or auditory hallucinations. I forget exactly what it's called, but it's your brain trying to fill the emptiness with something. Maybe Link didn't have visual hallucinations because he was focusing on trying to feel like he was moving, whereas Rhett wasn't.
I don't know why, but this episode made me feel like I was watching your old show - Rhett and Link: Commercial Kings. I truly enjoyed that show, and I really miss your local commercials. Here's hoping that you do more field trips to meet some more interesting folks in the future!
You go into sleep paralysis every night, you can't help it :D But you don't have to induce sleep paralysis to lucid dream! There are other, much easier techniques for lucid dreaming, DILD(Dream Induced Lucid Dream) for example. You should try that one.
don't you guys know they have a video on lucid dreaming? like it literally says, "learning to lucid dream" (from GMM, btw) i haven't watched it yet cuz i was gonna watch it after this, tho xD
I would be far too terrified to go in that tank, I was already panicking for you guys when you were about to enter. Also I'm pretty sure my head would move to the side as well.... I hope you guys had fun!!
Hi guys :) I'm from Poland and I started watching your show and this episode make me curious. Did you hear about a invisible exhibition? It's quite great. The point is to feel how to be blind, so you're taking a tour in a special environment where it's totally dark and you discover how to use diffrent senses to know what is around you. Check it out :) I experienced it and it was great. Greetings from Poland :)
I believe when Rhett says that he saw faces, he was lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming is a psychological state you can go into when you have ability to relax all your muscles and just lay on your back. At some points of lucid dreams, you can open your eyes and you see figures (In Rhett' s case, card faces) that aren't actually there.
I think I have restless leg syndrome. If I am relaxing or trying to sleep, I have a feeling of anxiety in my feet or lower legs and doesn't stop until I move them. It's really weird and prevents sleep for awhile until the anxiety stops
my legs can't touch, can't be too far away from each other and, they can't be anywhere close to the edge of the cover. its horrible i always have to move them.
rhett might have seen those faces because of the way he relaxed himself, cuz i know you got to relax that way to do "self hypnosis" or deep meditation, muscle by muscle, that plus the combination of the box and the narnia's knight auto suggestion might be the reasons he experienced that!
I'm at home and the first thing I thought is that some guy is hanging out at Costco watching Rhett and Link, lol. Didn't realize that closto is a nickname for claustrophobia.
Thank you Rhett and Link for all the videos u made after this one. I appreciated the one about lucid dreaming especially and have since been trying to have one. I havve not yet succeeded but am obsessed with the idea and with out u I might not of learned of this until I passed childhood (13 yrs) and the task would hav grown to be more difficult!! Thanks boys!! ;-D
I would really like to hear more of Rhett's experience of coming out of the tank. His reaction was really interesting and I want to know why he reacted the way he did.
Drowssap All they said was 'I think you should get some help.' that doesn't mean they were being aggressive towards you at all. No one said it's a sleeping disorder.
Perhaps so, GrimsFedora certainly phrased it better. My frustration at VinnieKeawe is solely because their comment suggests they have no idea about what hypnopompic hallucinations even are before they commented.
This was a really interesting talk. You guys should do more of these videos like hyperbaric chambers and oxygen bars and other medical practices and talk about differences you feel or you don't feel.
So cool! Thanks for saying hi! I wish I would've grabbed a picture with you for myself and my friend Dan Russo-the fan of yours that introduced me to your channel a few days ago-, and known more about what you do so I could've had a more intellectual conversation than "woah I know you have a RUclips channel". Maybe next time. Thanks, have an awesome rest of your day...and life for that matter.
When i smoked some weed i got the idea of rotation aswell. If you sit in a chair and your body "moves" forward, like rotates to the front, without actually doing it. It feels like if you are in a roller coaster or something similar, it is realy weird but interesting. Also, your stomach can start to feel weird and you may throw up if the effect gets to strong, just like you would in an actual roller coaster.
Once at school camp I couldn't sleep (like for really long, I only had slept about two hours the night before and I was only twelve...) and I actually started seeing and hearing my whole class sitting around me and talking. It was one of the weirdest things I've ever experienced...
The way i describe RLS or Restless Leg Syndrome is think oh how you feel when you are playing the slap game. As in one person holds their hand out and another person puts their hands below yours and they have to slap the top of your hand before you move it. If the person with the hands on top moves their hand before the person on the bottom tries to smack their hand, they lose. Think that you are the person on top.. That feeling you get when you know its coming and it makes you jerk your hand away too soon. That feeling you get in your chest and neck is the same feeling people get in their legs while they are trying to sleep so it causes us to have to jerk our legs to try to get rid of that feeling. I hope I helped out a bit,
You-tubers should be themselves. That's what Rhett and Link do and look how far they've gotten. They go places and do things while maintaining their OWN personalities. That is what makes them special. Too bad others can't believe that. If they did, the world would be better off, anyway.
What makes me hesitant about doing this is that I would somehow imagine that I am literally floating in the middle of the ocean, maybe even underwater, and then I'd imagine sharks swimming underneath of me. In total darkness it would not be very hard for my own mind to convince itself that there are sharks swimming beneath me.
There's a better tank in Austin. It's a huge 8x8x8ft or so chamber so it doesn't feel so claustrophobic, and it's in an actual office lol. They provide petroleum jelly for open sores and head pillows for Link's issues. It's not very common but yeah people can have an OBE in there and then have a Narnia experience. Many people use it to help with PTSD. Nothingness is some serious stuff! :)
i'd like to know what they were feeling when they exited the tank and why they looked like they were tripping happy balls. cuz those weren't 'relaxed' faces they had on when they opened the door.
***** I think they were just overwhelmed by what they had experienced. Think about a time when you were most relaxed and there was no sounds or distractions, pretty awesome and calm feeling right ? BUT when you had this feeling you were touching something with your physical body i.e. you were lay down, sat on, or had your feet touching something. Subconsciously your brain is constantly registering that information thus distracting you. Also no matter how quiet it was in your perimeter when you had this moment there were background noises that you were picking up on and again, your brain was registering this information thus further distracting you. And then there's the light, no matter how dark your area was it's most likely that there was light creeping in somewhere... and again, your brain had to process this information.. So you're never really away from reality, but in the tank... They fill the water with salt so that you float, that eliminates the physical information your brain processes in a "regular" experience. The tank in soundproof so your ears are not taking in "useless" information (background noise) And the tank is 100% dark. Not a ray of light gets thorough to distract you. It's literally just YOU and your thoughts. There are over 7 billion humans on this planet and not a single one of them are causing you ANY distraction.. It's literally like floating in space.. I'd say that was how they were feeling, It must be ultimate bliss.
I have restless leg syndrome as well. I think it would be nice to not have to deal with it for an hour. Feeling nothing is one of the greatest experiences. Me and my friend both meditate, and it's very difficult to get the sense of nothingness. It takes a lot of practice, and a lot of time. I'm glad you two were able to do this and share your experiences.
Wow. Link had an experience he is definitely not wanting to talk about. He seems extremely uncomfortable with talking about it. His behavior when he came out pretty much assures he freaked out a little. That was a very nervous laugh.
Wow Rhett. I finally got to hear someone else say the exact same words I've been saying. RLS is soo horrible! Like something weird crawling in my left leg....wakes me up sometimes ugh
I've done floating baths before, LOVED IT, but they were not in the sensory deprivation box, just a large bath. I did pregnant too, like 8 months pregnant and it was the most comfortable I had been since getting pregnant... It is super relaxing, you do need to dab some vaseline on any open sores...
Seems to have the same types of effect that LSD does. The crazy look both Rhett and Link had when they got out of the tank was really freaky! Would you guys do it again if the chance would happen again?
That's all I could think about! You couldn't pay me to go in one of those unless I knew the water was fresh.. I'm really germaphobe but even for people who aren't, it seems nasty
Hmm. Interesting! I used to do ballet and would sometimes take Epsom salt baths when my muscles were extremely sore. I don't know anything about restless leg syndrome, but maybe it was the salt that helped Rhett out.
There's this movie (don't remember the name) where this professor is also into sensory deprivation chambers. He gets obsessed with it and eventually gets dislodged from reality or something like that. Anyway there is this scene of a tubular tank in which he is floating in an upright position, head held above water by this "airbag" around his neck. Seemed to me like the best way of doing this sensory deprivation thing. If I could I would love to give that a go.
Vsauce did an episode about boredom and sensory deprivation, and your mind making up stimuli in the lack of any is bound to happen, so Rhett seeing faces actually makes a lot of sense.
When you're deprived of sensory input it is common to have hallucinations, because your brain is compensating. Faces (especially distorted ones like Rhett was describing) are one of the most common hallucinations because of how much energy your brain uses to look for and process faces. It's common in old people who have partially lost their eyesight.
They are so much calmer than normal after being in that tank... They hardly interrupted each other at all.
When Rhett left the tank it was so creepy.
Aussie girlxx He went back in like "OK I'm going back now..."
It looked like he had completely lost it hehe...
Aussie girlxx XD
He looked like he just got a prostate exam
Aussie girlxx it looked like a man brought back to civilization after living into a forest for a month
The video of them visiting the house and going into the tank reminded me of a found footage horror flick. Something like "Sensory Deprivation: Experiencing nothing, invites something."
I want to see that movie!
Altered States?
Would have been great if one of them came to get the other out of the tank in a minute and told him it had been an hour. I would love to see that reaction.

Well said.
Are you a Bhuddist? What you said sounds a lot like the teachings of Bhuddism.
+shadowkill546 Too much detachment can lead you astray though, and seperate you from reality. Depends on what you value or want to achieve in life.

I don't get how Link can find it hard to believe that Rhett saw faces lol hallucination isn't that far fetched.
t
k
Why tf can't I see these comments that's scary
Alexis Hayward Same!
Link seems skeptical of most things
I liked this extra video way more than the main video.
I also share a general skepticism when people say that they are claustrophobic. I mean, who can really be afraid of Santa?
Lmao
So funny
Ha. Ha. Ha
*Activate sarcastic laughter*
I’m afraid of an obese man inside the chimney. That’s claustrophobic.
Dude $50 for an hour! That's a steal, this seems super cool!
1 full day for the low low price of $1,200
Sheep Studios it really is pretty low if you intend to spend that many hours in a pod under someone's house. Especially if you'd get a good experience after 1 hour.
Sheep Studios good math
Its $60 for 90 min here.
I go to a place where they charge $35 an hour
Link was touching his ring when he was speaking about his wife :)

I think I wanna try this. This would be amazing for writer's block. And possibly for quelling panic attacks.
Yeah, amen to that, man.
i REALLY advise meditating twice a day for a month
DamageIncM dude, i feel you so much. i would want to do this tank thing and then come out and try to make up a new music genre. i would fail miserably but it would be a really fun thing to try.
haha don't worry, i've been a producer for five years now :3 hear this soundcloud.com/sebastian-cavolina/witchcraft-original-mix
haha i get it :c dont worry, i just wanted feedback, i wanted to make a softer drop anyway.

I used to see stuff like that too, until I was maybe 8 or 9. But it usually only happened when I was a bit under the weather.
That happens to me like once a week
I had the same thing, but for me it lasted until I was 11 or 12 and the shapes would chase each other on the ceiling.
I see things all the time (including the slight whisper everyone in awhile) still including silhouettes of ppl either against walls or just very faint outlines free standing in the dark other times I see shadows move ever so slightly where there shouldnt be a shadow

Boy this video got reeeeal dark near the end, lol
How?
Austin James I guessing because the mention of a 'growth'.
?
how...
Talking about the cancer thing I guess
I feel claustrophobic in small spaces, but I love it when it's quiet. Peaceful, open spaces are heaven to me.
i think link is salty that his experience wasn't as dope as rhetts haha
clayton lucas Almost as salty as the water they were in.
TheNannerb3 OOOOO
His eyes were salty too
And the burn on his hand
oh yeah most def
Anyone else thinks that it's weird that Rhett's shoulder is almost completely parallel to the wheel?
AmazingGrac Illuminati

The hallucination about the faces could have been phosphenes. The nervous system in the eyes is somehow activated and you begin to see lines, patterns even colors and faces.
I sometimes see that when I close my eyes and I'm laying in bed. Is that normal?
ariana yes is normal. It is just active nerve cells in your retina. Sometimes you can see it when you rub your eyes.
That's good to know, thank you!
HighLighterlines When I was little I used to rub my eyes until I saw colors (Which I did) and it changed from black to pink to green and then white and then I would open my eyes and everything looked like a million pixels. (sorry I told you this. Your comment reminded me of it O-O)

It would be hilarious that if the dude was messing with Rhett and had a projector in the tank doing those images :P
Feasible na

I'm the opposite of claustrophobic. I like small, quiet spaces.
When I used to be able to fit in small spaces, I would empty our cabinets and lay down a blanket and sleep in them for hours lol
TheCatAteMyShoe Claustrophilia?
Blue Wolf
Hey, I think that would be the correct word, whether or not it exists!
TheCatAteMyShoe :D
I knew it! You really are a cat!
"a straw. An air straw" I died.
Have been using my tank over 40 years, with TM total relaxation, have spent the night in there
Rhett was really close to experiencing a DMT trip without drugs.
Everyone experiences a DMT trip every time they have dreams. And since they were in pitch black with none of their senses their brain began to think they were asleep and thus began the hallucinations.
No, he wasn't. He saw some faces, DMT trips put you in different dimension.
Ha, your comment has one like while the one above has 28. How r ppl going to believe ur statement now...
MercuryManProduction
have any of you done dmt? look up this movie. it`s on netflix.
"I want a straw, like a straw you can breathe out of."
"That's called a snorkel..."
LMBO. X'D
Thanks guys! Float tanking is one the best experiences I have ever done.
I'll probably never be able to relax in such a situation due to my my constant tinnitus, my various disorders and anxieties and my brain that basically never shuts up..
I think that's the point of this, ppl like u are supposed to do this to get away from those things
truetype80 Well, I'd still like to try it (if I could)
Same. I'm super paranoid and have really bad anxiety so I doubt that would be super relaxing for me.
Well, I don't live in the U.S(I'm just assuming you do based on the comment), but I'm sure other people would be interested to hear about that :)
I'm calling it now, This video is going to get deep.
It's like the box in sponge bob. IMAGINATION
OMG that's what I was thinking!!
hahahahahahaha
*Rainbow Arches Over Your Head With Hands* :D
OMG YEHS
Here's hoping that you do more field trips to meet some more interesting folks in the future!
you should try lucid dreaming if you want to go to narnia! :D
When I have lucid dreaming, it's by pure luck. I'm not really willing to get myself into sleep paralysis to induce it. :D
You go into sleep paralysis every night, you can't help it :D
But you don't have to induce sleep paralysis to lucid dream! There are other, much easier techniques for lucid dreaming, DILD(Dream Induced Lucid Dream) for example.
You should try that one.
How long would it take for me? Can you write out a step by step thing? I've tried listening to videos but I'm a visual learner.
you could try this step by step guide, but there are several good step by step guides on the internet!
www.wikihow.com/Lucid-Dream
don't you guys know they have a video on lucid dreaming? like it literally says, "learning to lucid dream" (from GMM, btw) i haven't watched it yet cuz i was gonna watch it after this, tho xD
I would be far too terrified to go in that tank, I was already panicking for you guys when you were about to enter. Also I'm pretty sure my head would move to the side as well.... I hope you guys had fun!!
Rhett: open mind
Link: closed mind
Hi guys :) I'm from Poland and I started watching your show and this episode make me curious. Did you hear about a invisible exhibition? It's quite great. The point is to feel how to be blind, so you're taking a tour in a special environment where it's totally dark and you discover how to use diffrent senses to know what is around you. Check it out :) I experienced it and it was great. Greetings from Poland :)
This is awsome. You guys should do the AGAIN! I wanna hear Rhets experience. Cmon guys!
12:00-12:15 Methinks Link was a bit annoyed...
Agreed
+Sarah Theory true
Yeah straight up telling someone their face all asymmetrical and to go get that checked out would make anyone a little po-ed
I despise it
my mom has it really bad. she takes anxiety medicine for it at night.
+Ember Predacon
sounds like it. is it a sort of weird tingly sensation akin to when your leg fell asleep but not quite?
my legs can't touch, can't be too far away from each other and, they can't be anywhere close to the edge of the cover. its horrible i always have to move them.
My husband takes Sifrol (Pramipexolel) for restless legs. It works.
rhett might have seen those faces because of the way he relaxed himself, cuz i know you got to relax that way to do "self hypnosis" or deep meditation, muscle by muscle, that plus the combination of the box and the narnia's knight auto suggestion might be the reasons he experienced that!
I am a closto and the first thing i thought was the person leaning or locking the door somehow
and it made me freak out
I'm at home and the first thing I thought is that some guy is hanging out at Costco watching Rhett and Link, lol. Didn't realize that closto is a nickname for claustrophobia.
bread biscut
You just ruined this for me unless I build my own lol
Thank you Rhett and Link for all the videos u made after this one. I appreciated the one about lucid dreaming especially and have since been trying to have one. I havve not yet succeeded but am obsessed with the idea and with out u I might not of learned of this until I passed childhood (13 yrs) and the task would hav grown to be more difficult!! Thanks boys!! ;-D
Link,
why did you come out of the tank laughing?
you never explained that.
thanks.
typhoon out
This was one of the realest GMM ever.
I would really like to hear more of Rhett's experience of coming out of the tank. His reaction was really interesting and I want to know why he reacted the way he did.
"With an air straw!"..."That's a snorkel." love it.
Hypnagogic/hypnopompic hallucinations, have them all the time.
hearing/seeing things before going to sleep/upon waking.
*ouch* yeah I have narcolepsy ...you should feel terrible :')
It also occurs in people without sleep disorders, educate yourself.
It usually pair with sleep paralysis, and can happen to anyone
VinnieKeawe It's pretty common and it's not a problem.
I've seen the playing card-like faces as well, Rhett. :) Incredible stuff.
You were lucid dreaming!! You didn't wake up and see them... you woke up into a dream in which you were consciously seeing things you wanted to.
This was a really interesting talk. You guys should do more of these videos like hyperbaric chambers and oxygen bars and other medical practices and talk about differences you feel or you don't feel.
I sometimes forget my eyes are open if I'm just thinking hard enough.
I feel rotation just by closing my eyes in bed
same
+Jack Conant You might need to see a doctor. You could have some fluids off in your ear or have an equilibrium issue.
***** Well, I have to actually try to do it. It doesn't happen naturally.
Only happens to me after a night of heavy drinking.
+Crucible Companion Could it pose a serious problem? Because I like how it feels when I do it.
I love it when Good mythical More is longer than GMM.
You go to Narnia for real on DMT.
Yes.
Do not ever disregard DMT that way again.
Link saying "That seems scary, I'm not gonna do that" is probably the most genuine sounding statement I've ever heard. lol
"When I smoked some weed"
At anytime you can touch the bottom and know you are safe
I liked it when Rhett came out how he came up then back down
I dont think id be able to do that i would probably start pushing off of the edges making a game of it the whole time 😂
The plans call for 800 lbs of epsom salt. Where tf am I gonna get 800lbs of epsom salt 😂
2016 miss your honesty
i'd like to know what they were feeling when they exited the tank and why they looked like they were tripping happy balls. cuz those weren't 'relaxed' faces they had on when they opened the door.
The tank in soundproof so your ears are not taking in "useless" information (background noise)
And the tank is 100% dark.
Like something weird crawling in my left leg....wakes me up sometimes ugh
who else started to get freaked out when Rhett started talking about the faces
As an introvert, this sounds awesome!
wow ur still very zoned out in this. ur body posture they way u listen.. it's all makes me curious
Tom Davis kjjj
You guys are brave. I totally couldn't do that, being deprived of senses just freaks me out!
I want to try this so badly now.
On the point of RLS I've found stretching my hamstrings before laying down really helps.
"If you're lookin to build a sleep deprivation tank...[stutters]...we can't help you"
I've done floating baths before, LOVED IT, but they were not in the sensory deprivation box, just a large bath.
They both said they would.
Oh thanks for the answer Trek Video
i saw the VICE documentary on the float tanks a few months ago and since then ive been wanting to do one, it seems awesome
They should try the quietist room in the world. They say it's so quiet you can here your blood running through your vanes
I agree! they should totally do it
They should!!!
I wanna see them do it
Yeah people go insane in there as well
You guys should be happy that you felt good. Sensory Deprivation is also used as a torture technique to get people talking/ to do stuff
I wonder how often that water gets changed......I wonder if Link peed before Rhett got in.....I wonder.....
Rhett went in first...
Broman first thing that I thought about
Broman omg lol
That's all I could think about! You couldn't pay me to go in one of those unless I knew the water was fresh.. I'm really germaphobe but even for people who aren't, it seems nasty
Broman the water is so heavily salted that no bacteria can grow in it but they are passively filtered regardless
Hmm. Interesting! I used to do ballet and would sometimes take Epsom salt baths when my muscles were extremely sore. I don't know anything about restless leg syndrome, but maybe it was the salt that helped Rhett out.
Do they change the water?
I'd hope so otherwise people could've pissed in it.
That would explain the salty water...
I imagine they filter it, but the high salt content kills most germs.
The salt water wasn't salty when they first started letting people do it...
dgd264 How do you know urine is salty? lol! j/k
