    I love this guy! After watching this I was more than stoked to go for a walk "out-n-about in the hills in Winter".... The presentations in this whole series are outstanding. Very clear and easy to understand. Not a lot of fluff. Just straight-forward and useful information, delivered in a friendly fashion.

    Excellent - best presentation skills I have ever seen! I never really paid attention to how I do this, and I cannot explain it well. Now I can just show this to friends and they will be prepared and have the right mindset.
    Thanks!

    Mark, that was an amazing video. Hats off to you for helping beginners learn the basics before they venture out on their first ice and snow climbing experience! This would also probably be helpful to more experienced mountaineers.

    Very interesting. Thank you. I'm heading to Nepal in September for a long trek that involves five 5,000 meter passes, and have been advised that it might be handy to bring some micro-spikes, or preferably crampons along. I'm guessing from what little I've read that for my hiking boots, which are a pair of Salomon 4D 3GTX boots, I'll need to get C1 crampons that simply strap on. But in that case would the technique you showed for kicking in the toe spikes on a steep slope still work? I would have thought you would need a rigid boot to do that?

    What brand are those crampons?

  • @2675142
    @2675142 9 лет назад

    I see you have Scarpa boots. Are those "alpine": crampons for vertical ice climbs? I only have mountaineering crampons that i have a hard time getting them snug so my heels don't slip. But I was ice climbing with mountaineering crampons which is not the correct gear, right?

    It's such a palaver fitting those things that I'd keep them on boots for climbing, & go to the snow-level, etc wearing other footwear changing on the spot. Why demonstrate on smooth snowy slopes like that wearing a helmet!!?
