This is said to be taking place generations after the time of Caesar. So the main ape wouldn’t be his son Cornelius, though he could still be a descendant. Apparantly his name is Noa
Yeah, I think the ape at the end goes by Proximus Caesar, so one might assume he's actually in Caesar's line. Could be cool if the antagonist is actually a corrupt descendant of our boy. That said, they could go a few ways with that. Caesar could just be a title, or Proximus could be a pretender whose family usurped Caesar's line at some point, while Noa is an actual descendant. Who knows?
The Planet of the Apes hold a special place in my heart. My grandpa was obsessed with them and we would watch all of the originals over and over, including the TV show. I remember him sneaking 10 year old me out and going to see the Tim Burton movie in theaters and loving it (I know the movie isn't great as an adult but it was the experience). I joined the army and moved away right out of high school so we didn't see each other much but always met back up to watch the new movies as they came out with him passing a couple months after we saw War. This trailer made me feel like a little kid again and I'm so excited but I do wish we could've watched it together.
That's literally so sweet. I can imagine when he saw a new trailer, was he not only excited for a new movie, but also that he got to see his grandson again.
I think it would be great if you went back and watched the originals with Charlton Heston and Roddy McDowall along with the Tim Burton film with Mark Wahlburg
@@Nick-iq7zu I recently rewatched it on DVD & it wasn't bad. The Tim Burton "Planet of the Apes" has it's flaws, but it is a worthy addition to the POTA franchise. Looking forward to this new one!
This new film takes place many generations later. So Cornelius has been dead for at least a century by now. The new protagonist is called Noa and the antagonist is called Proximus Caesar. Who is perverting the peaceful teachings that Caesar left for his kind to carry on.
Did you guys maybe forget that Caesar died at the end? The information we know so far is that this takes place “several generations” after Caesar. So the Apes have had time to make their own civilization, and humans have reverted back to their primitive state. A pretty similar world to the original planet of the apes film. The main characters name I said to be “Noa” so, not Caesar’s son. But could possibly be a descendant. And the Ape king you see at the end is called “Proximus Caesar”.

This seems to take place a few generations at least after War. The main characters name is apparently Noa, originally people thought it was Cornelius. I'm gonna guess he's a descendant of Caeser but nothing's confirmed yet.

I'd love to see yall react to all of the old ones! I don't think you should wait to react to the new one on here. Yall need to see those effects on the biggest screen possible.
As probably the biggest apes fan imaginable i strongly recommend you go back and watch the original and maybe even the sequel to that. The original is an absolute masterpiece in my opinion, its like what Sam Raimi’s Spiderman 2 is to holden. Recommend it since its been hinted that its part of the newest trilogy and might be apart of kingdom!!!
Idk, some of the “close up” shots looks a little more cartoony, like you can tell it’s cgi. But then other shots it looks really good. We’ll see. But I too am stoked for it. Can’t wait regardless
I'm hoping this follows Caesar's son, Cornelius. I'd love for you to react to the 1968 film, though it may loose some impact that your wife already knows the twist. Would have been awesome had she watched that first. It's a classic, and stunned audiences at the time with the makeup and social commentary. This is pulling the Franchise BACK in the direction of the Original trilogy. Either the 70s originals or the Walhberg one u guys should see the traditional storyline.
Fun fact: while Matt Reeves did the last two films, this new one is directed by Wes Ball, who helmed the entire Maze Runner trilogy (which I recommend reacting to if you haven't seen it). He's also working after this as director for the live action Legend of Zelda movie recently announced by Nintendo and Sony Pictures.
If I'm not mistaken, there is like a nod, half attempt at a retcon of the Wahlberg movie in Rise. We see through news clips that a crew of astronauts will be attempting some groundbreaking, historical feat. Can't remember what. Later we learn that something has happened to the shuttle. It's a side plot that isn't explored any more than that but it hints at the story of Burton's Planet of the Apes.
its actually a call out to the original Charlton Heston film which Tim Burton's movie was just a straight up remake of. Basically, thats an easter egg that the main character of the original film is on that shuttle on his way to play out his story
You're right. It was so long since I saw the original I didn't think about that. In my mind it was an attempt to try to explain Burton's twist on the twist that made no sense at the time but acctually works pretty well with the latest movies.
I feels just like a continuation of Matt reeves’ movies. I can see the love this new director has for his film and his way of telling these stories and the way the calm moments around a campfire and the way they’re lit and the apes navigate exploring the ruined human world I love to see it. Also loving how close to the original film we’re getting and seeing the apes creature their own culture and dress sense and I’d love to see a primitive version of the cone helmets 😂
this movie takes place 300 years after the last movie. you see the new lead ape exploring "new" stuff. these "unknown" areas he's exploring would be comparable to the "forbidden zone" from the original movie series.
This movie takes place years after War and this is definitely Caesar’s son we’re following after Caesar’s death. Looks amazing though. (Just been informed this is generations after war and this isn’t Caesar’s son.)
Wes Ball did a such a great job with the Maze Runner trilogy, especially in the visual department. I've never been into the Planet of the Apes series but I'm curious for this one lol
4:30 theory ppl for is he is a descendant of ceaser considering this is like hundreds of years later based on how much nature reclaimed cities and state of humans now. The descendant in a way maybe a reincarnation of ceaser if he have some memories passed down.
If I were Charlton Heston, and I came back from space exploration to discover Apes had taken over Earth due to the time dilation....I'd make the best of it to. You could either deal with all the madness of Apes ruling the world all by yourself, OR, you could find yourself a super hot woman to marry and make due with what you're dealt. Now that I think about, what more could a spaceman ask for in a situation like that? 🤔
That wouldn’t be Caesar’s son, but it may be his ancestor. They said that this movie takes place generations after the events of War of the Planet of the Apes.
The human girl from the original that Charlton Heston's character "gets with" is an alternate universe version of the little girl from War for the Planet of the Apes. She's probably going to have an expanded role in Kingdom, before ultimately meeting this universe's version of Taylor in whatever movie comes after that.
