Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a 2011 American science fiction action film directed by Rupert Wyatt and written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.[2][5][7] It is a reboot of the Planet of the Apes film series and its seventh film overall.[8] The film stars Andy Serkis as Caesar, alongside James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, and David Oyelowo. In the film, Caesar, a chimpanzee genetically enhanced and raised by William Rodman (Franco), goes from living in captivity to eventually leading an ape uprising against humanity.

It is mentioned in Battle for the Planet of the Apes (the fifth and last movie of the originals) that no human can tell an ape 'no' because when they were being trained as pets / slaves, in the fourth move, the humans repeated 'no' as a command. This was a nod to the originals. Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the rest of the current ones are a reimagining and not how things went down in the originals.

This is an amazing trilogy, Caesar💚 is the best!!! ...love him to bits, hes a way better leader then most human leaders today. Hope u react to the other two.Caesar only bit the finger, it was still attached so that mean neighbour was lucky.
Notice after all hes been through, Caesar has no first instinct or intention to kill humans or hurt people, just to free his apes. He never even killed the nasty Draco, he killed himself out of stupidity. Also the apes didnt kill any innocents, they just trashed a few offices and scared people tbf. You can see how heartbroken Caesar was to reject his human dad after he turned his back, its clear how hard it was for him & he continued using his window as his symbol on street signs afte r escaping. I always root for the apes, animals are true to their nature, & we betray ours.
Also, Caesar can be infected again, so he also get even smarter when inhaling the 1.13 virus too, plus Caesar is way more intelligent since he had a proper human childhood education from Will.

Screenwriter-Producer Rick Jaffa described this as more of a reboot than a prequel, and director Rupert Wyatt compared it to Batman Begins. Wyatt did also say it was primarily a prequel to the original, but even then there’s a little inconsistency, primarily the timing and purpose of the space mission. So this trilogy may not lead into to the classic films, but the same basic idea of them. The sequels would have to add some of the original lore to connect better
Yeah, you can’t legally have apes as pets
He didn’t take that guy’s finger, he just bit it. In fact he was meant to bite it off but they thought that was too much, so they changed it
Maurice is named for Maurice Evans! Dr Zaius’s actor! And Cornelia should be obvious
Will was going to give his dad the 113, but then he shook his head no. Death by the 113 includes the nose bleeding, and there wasn’t any blood on the dad, it was just his returning Alzheimers
Caesar’s No left me speechless in the theater. Left everyone speechless! I didn’t expect it at all. The classics had much more human-like apes, so with having more realistic ones, I thought having them talk would be a step too far for a casual audience. But this movie did it so well! They only have Caesar talk, and it’s only a couple times for significant moments.
The virus _does_ affect the apes. But positively.

This movie does a really good job of being a bit of a mirror to the original. The opening scene of the hunters capturing the apes is meant to mirror the originals where the humans were captured by the apes. The virus does affect the apes it makes them smarter. The humans that can survive the virus lose some of their mental abilities and that is why they are mute in planet of the apes.

Hi, Thankyou for reacting and watching the planet of the apes reboot trilogy part 1 Rise of the planet of the apes. I adore this trilogy Rise, Dawn and War they are masterpieces to me and my top three movies ever in cinematic history. I hope that now that you have watched Rise you’ll continue with Dawn and War. Please continue this trilogy. If you like dawn you’ll be blown away with Dawn and War as they take it to a higher level than Rise. I love Andy Serkis as Caesar he’s my fave character ever in a movie. Like this trilogy Andy Serkis is underrated and unappreciated for his motion cam work along with the other motion cam actors Toby Krebbel who plays Koba etc. I’m sure you’ll love it and side with Caesar and the apes over the humans. Take care 😘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #ApesTogetherStrong ❤️ #TeamCaesar 💔

I see a lot of 'watching the other ones' and agree, especially Beneath and Escape. I expect most people will tell you to stay away from the tim burton one but its a fun spin on the story and the apes in masks move a lot more ape lile

Yeah this is a full reboot. Doesn't have anything to do with the originals. Which makes me glad. The reboots are infinitely better.

There was a Planet Of The Apes II (old one), in which the apes returns to Earth by a spacecraft in the "man's time". That time there was all about nuclear war, not virus spread. So that apes was the start of their journey

It was actually the third film Escape from the Planet of the Apes where they came to "present day (1973) Earth. Also it WAS a virus in the original storyline too. A virus killed all the dogs and cats so humans started keeping apes as pets and eventually made them slaves.

    Nice!
I would love to have seen your reaction to the other APES films but I guess you wanted to know what happened before the 1968 movie.
Don't watch the 2001 reboot from Tim Burton starring Mark Wahlberg.
It was not well received by critics or fans.
When Burton was asked if he would direct a sequel, he said in an interview that "he rather jump out of a 10 story window than work on another APES movie after the wat he was treated by Fox executives."

Little confused by your comment. The original sequels show what happens before the 1968 movie.

Many people believe they got the titles for these first two movies backwards. This one is called Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the second one is Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Everyone one knows Dawn comes before Rise! The sun first appearing over the horizon is the "dawn" then as the morning progresses it "rise"s in the sky!

The sequels to the originals are definitely worth a watch but the sequels to Rise are damn good too. I'm sure you'll get around to the original sequels eventually, just keep it in your head that the reboot prequels (this series) and the original sequels are both essentially separate series. The reboot prequels have references to the original sequels though they're more easter eggs than anything so you can watch Dawn and War Of The Planet Of The Apes without missing anything important.
Basically, Rise, Dawn and War are tangentially linked to the original but in their own timeline whereas the likes of Beneath and Conquest are direct sequels to the original.

2:04 What you have expected, would have been the remake from 2001 with Mark Wahlberg. But the new reboot beginning with the movie from 2011 are much more worth watching anyways.

I saw this in theaters. When Caesar spoke, the whole room was deathly quiet, like our souls had been sucked out of our bodies, and for those few seconds of silence, we felt like the inferior species humans were destined to become. I broke the silence with a loud, "YES!" Lol

The problem is that if you were able to increase brain function so that the animal could be cognitive and talk... it wouldn't be able to because chimps and other apes lack the physical structures of the throat to produce the sounds we do for talking.
Talking is not just the mental capacity for doing so, but the physical structures too... which is why there are speech impediments etc in perfectly lucid humans
