Its crazy how people think, you can change the breaks on a vehicle and after they leave a week later they call and tell you the vehicle isn't shifting right and it has to be something you have done.
This whole video was such a rollercoaster. I understand the customer frustrations as well as your shops position, but hearing about your nephew just puts all that to shame, it's like nothing else mattered. Then the cats going nuts I had to throw my hands up. surreal video guys
That’s what my life feels like at the moment lol but you are right. Nothing else mattered. I’m still alive and able to fight another day. Thanks for watching the whole thing 🙏🏽

Drained a 3800 Buick Lucerne once and not a single drop came out of it. Maybe 4oz out of the filter. No CEL, shaking etc. Filled it up and when I started it up it was completely fine. I know 3800's are tough, but wow!
Those 3800 are too solid. Had a Buick Lesabre and some plastic thing melted in the engine and was smoking so bad. The mechanic said the head gasket was okay just had to replace (forget the part) something much more trivial less expensive. Any other engine would have been toast. I miss that car. But Let's not talk about the 3800 in my 2005 Impala. Transmission so weak the engine broke it lol.
@suspiciousmembers7719 , trans was weak in all 3800's. Some cheap plastic coolant elbows and the upper intake manifold on Gen 1 and 2 was plastic and would crack and coolant would mix in the block and shut the motor down. Flush the motor and a new upper intake manifold and you were good. Owned a few 3800 cars.
@elmayimbe_the_amateur_mechanic ding ding ding that's exactly what happened to mine! Thank you it's been a while. I remember the day I seen all that smoke pouring out the back. I was sick. Why don't they/do they still use that engine in any capacity?
@@AlexTheCarDoctor hey y’all! I live in the Atlanta Metro area, I’ve been a technician for 12 almost 13 years. I’m ASE Master Certified with my L1 also. Almost at the point to get out of the business really man. This past year was rough man. Prayers up for y’all 🙏
Yeah, this year already started bad with my transmission going out. That with all the taxes coming up I’m already in the negative. I’m trying but seems I get ahead a little bit then something pushes me way back. Best wishes for your shop and moving forward to better days 😅

Finally got around to watching this video. Keep up the great content fam! I gotta say though, RUclips is getting a little insane with their ads....there was an ad every 4-5 minutes toward the end of this video. Ah well.
A small word of safety advice when using an impact tool never have your fingers on the socket while using the tool. Especially regular sockets they can break and take a finger off or severely cut your fingers and hand when it occurs. I have seen this happen personally and it is a severe injury. When I saw you guiding the socket with your fingers I cringed. Yes I know getting called out on things like that is annoying, but I do not want to see you hurt yourself especially your fingers which you need for your profession. Great videos Alex I enjoy them so do not take this wrong my man just remember next time do not use your fingers as a guide for the socket and remember to use sockets made for impacts:P I do things unsafe myself at times and sure appreciate it when somebody brings my attention to it. In the end we all have the same goal to go home to our families safe and sound. Keep wrenching buddy!
My work truck needs belt, daily driver needs water pump and belt, weekend car is in the garage getting valve cover gasket. Tough times don't last, tough people do!
Alex, bud, what was that tool called you used to find to a broken wire in a harness? I must have it! Did you get it on a tool truck? Also are you going to the Summit Institute shop owner conference in Jacksonville FL next month??
The “ Changing the Industry “ pod cast told me about it, apparently it’s supposed to be a great conference for shop owners but dude they want $1750 a head to attend. I told them I was not paying that, I have enough to pay for, and that doesn’t include travel or hotel, so it’s kind of expensive. Charging the industry told me I could still come without paying the fee, I’m such a new shop, I just can’t swing that right now, especially how bad December and January have been, I’ve had so many customers blatantly steal from me doing charge backs the last two months that I’ve had to stop taking credit cards until I can recover from it, I wanted to ask you how you handled charge backs and your process with the customer, do you call the police? What do you do?
I don't know. I've seen that with Ford trucks and it also has misfires at the time. It could ne either misfires or the transmission. Does these transmissions torque converter lockup even occur at 30 mph? I mean if it was happening under a load at 45 and above, it could be torque converter clutch, but I would need to know when this torque comverter clutch engages, what speed? I believe these transmissions do have issues but not that easy to isolate a shudder these days. With no codes! Either way that's an expensive call. I would just try the additive first. Ive seen this same problem with the 2019 Impala! Im afraid the ohm test can test good even if 1-2 strands of wire are connected, but if the wire cannot carry the load (current) to activate an injector or coil then it's not going to work. Perhaps test with an incandecent test light to see if there is enough current to light the test light. I try to use a hands off approach to diagnose. Voltage drops, incandescent test light, and amp clamp. The ohm test works if the wire is completly broken. But the ohm test does not test the wire for current flow.
Hello, have you guys gone to ASTE? ive heard that some business owners go there to do consulting to level up their business, seems like you have already have it in control, but just wondering if its something youll consider in the future. Also sorry to hear about your nephew, wishing your family well!
The challenges of automotive diagnosis and repair further complicated with the burden of managing a business. Don't ever forget to take the time to live the life that your business is supposed to facilitate.
😂😂😂😂 man I feel you when it comes to them cats. I got a bunch of them that stay outside on my porch cause we feed em. Ninja, Rambo, Smokey, and the yellow cat and their mothers. Man all you hear is those screams of them fighting other cats in the hood. Stuff is crazy. Lol 😂
i remember the Cornwell truck pulling up on tuesdays... didnt even have to look to see that it was him my left pocket started burning and time started to slow down. i worked at a shop that was open from 90-2024 I started in 2010 got out in 2016 I saw this man do everything after i left and came back he was only doing maintenance stuff, which was mostly replace and install. people used to send classic datsuns, nissan, toyotas to us to fix but labor parts cost parts availability as a business man with cost of operation going up it made sense to not take on big jobs
I think the biggest issue is you fix an out of state car and they drive back and something else breaks, but they blame the unrelated breakdown on your work. To your point, you now have to pay to ship a car from Arkansas and find that the new issue has nothing to do with what you fixed, smh. Customer doesn’t care one way or another, because the shipping and the work is somewhat “free”.
@ great decision to stop out of state repairs. Either that or make out of state customers sign a limited liability waiver/ release that has a hold harmless clause. I do business proposal and contract work and even those get messy.
Condolenses to you and your family and nothing but prayers and better days ahead. Positive vibes to y'all and keep dropping these informative videos and can't wait for the next ones.

Just stumbled upon ya acct from tiktok. I would love to see you do a series on best used car recommendations to have within specific car brands, based upon your knowledge and work.
Ggodday sir.. I got a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic 1.4L.. It started giving me a error 89 code,, but not all the time,, some day's I drive without it showing up.. And it only stays for a few seconds, than it's gone.. It started 2 weeks ago, after I changed both outer cv joints.. I don't know if has something to do with cv joints... I drive the car everyday,, I only saw it 4 time's the past 2weeks,for a few seconds at a time,, what is code 89..please..
Code 89 is referring to a coolant problem most likely low on coolant if so, you have a leak somewhere, but if the coolant level is good, most likely it’s a thermostat
You do the same thing I do on those 6R80 Torque Converter shudder. I see them all the time. Drop pan and inspect magnet. If ok, add lubegard shudder fixx, replace filter, pan gasket, and around 6ish quarts of fluid. Fixes them every time. Highly recommended getting a walnut blaster. Works so well. We got the machine for $200 off amazon. We sell the service for $200 plus intake R&I labor.
I just ordered one! You know soon as the wife hears something about a tool she gonna buy it lol but thanks for the info! I was never sure what to charge for that service!
the advantage you have is You Tube i have been mechanic im 68 have slowed down but still stay currend like with fca on the chrysler products i have a small you tube channel very seldom make videos though. but on the dodge truck its a no win deal i would price it as cheap as i could and forget and go on would try to make fixing the truck ther happen because if you dont fix it the results will be bad if it goes to another shop. i like my power probe tool as well have you tried the new DM300 AUTO meter wonderful tool and they also have the new tool for draw testing thru the ODB connector bought it haven't used yet
All three Snap on, Matco and MAC come by my shop, I split the business up between all three and make it fair, plus MAC and Matco has a ton a cool ass merch. Snap on merch is fire too.
I got an idea. Alex, how about you disguise yourself and take a car with a few problems but not too many to a mechanic to test if the mechanic is actually honest.
I think you are being too nice with that truck. I would be charging her for everything, or she wouldn't be getting her truck back. She should be very grateful for your generosity.
Question, do you know that the truck from North Carolina is not from a shop? Question the jeep that you did was from where the woman’s jeep see from North Carolina and she had wrote back Question, do you think you’ll be set up with this out of town stuff? Question diagnostic cost what and everybody should pay for one Just saying
I'd bet you 20 bucks it's not the ecm. Firstly ohm checking doesn't mean anything because you need to be checking circuits either with a labscope or loaded circuit like will it actually carry current. That's when you need to get out a sealed headlamp bulb, you unplug the wire at both ends and jump the power through it to ground to price the wiring is good. One strand shows a good ohm test so ohm test is junk. Secondly chrysler when it senses a misfire can disable the injector pulse or spark to preserve the catalytic converter. So you have to reset the ecm memory and recheck that the ecm can command the the coil and injector its probably not the ecm. Reach out to me if I can help you anymore with the diag or your shop issues. Hate to see you struggling so much.
Its sad yall have to stop doing stuff. There are bad customers! Like the plum crazy hack job fix. Bad customer. Hopefully yall consider doing what you wouldnt normally do for good customers. Perhaps a surcharge and only Alex does out of state customers? Incidentally…is that the jar of gefilte fish on the shelf above the desk?? 😂😂😂😂
You have a ton of people driving in from out of state to get heavy line engibe repair work done because youre doing it too cheap. You cant hire top talent techs if you keep trying to operate a charity instead of a profitable business and work yourself into an early grave. Your business can close tomorrow ahd your customers won't shed a tear for your failure. Theyll go seek out the next cheap shop. Your legacy isn't the money you saved people people. Your businesses value is your legacy and if its worth nothing at years end you might as well worked a job for someone else and not have all the business stress
@yea I believe depending on how that computer sends the signal you could do battery(-) to the control on that circuit and should give the difference in potential. Or even better hook a scope up to it and see if the computer is sending out a signal on that circuit or if it’s sending one out what the pattern looks like.

Bro I wish I could fine a mechanic like you. If I had would have had found you I would have shipped my 07 dodge set to you to fix
Hey Alex, do you think walnut blasting should be scheduled maintenance on gdi engines?
@@noahadim walnut blasting is necessary if you totally neglect the fuel induction services that’s needed every 20 to 30,000 miles on GDI engines

Anyone know anything about N52 bmw motors? Also i really love your channel man
All three Snap on, Matco and MAC come by my shop, I split the business up between all three and make it fair, plus MAC and Matco has a ton a cool ass merch. Snap on merch is fire too.
I’m going to shop with Marco because of my old colleague. I want to support him. And my wife has way too much Snap on Merch 😩
I got an idea. Alex, how about you disguise yourself and take a car with a few problems but not too many to a mechanic to test if the mechanic is actually honest.
On the news, there’s a lawsuit against Ford echo boots and there’s a recall
There's a person on eBay that flashes those computers. It's cheaper if you get her the computer and she comes and gets the truck
I think you are being too nice with that truck. I would be charging her for everything, or she wouldn't be getting her truck back. She should be very grateful for your generosity.
Out of town if you don’t fix what we recommend, we are not responsible
Cost for mother board
Lkq has the best engines
we had 9 inches of snow last week 2025 not so good yet
It better come indoor if it’s a diagnostic gotta pay
Question, do you know that the truck from North Carolina is not from a shop?
Question the jeep that you did was from where the woman’s jeep see from North Carolina and she had wrote back
Question, do you think you’ll be set up with this out of town stuff?
Question diagnostic cost what and everybody should pay for one
Just saying

The drug your thinking of is meth it keeps you up and people on it talk fast and act all kinds of weird
It was very weird to watch 😂
sell the jetty, get Alex's mini Cooper running 😅
Mini cooper is up and running! I’ve been driving it like I stole it everyday lol

I did all the resets and re learns I could do, and it was still misfiring. But yes I’d love to reach out! How can I do reach out???
40:10 DIFFerENtiate kicked yall a** didnt it 😅
😩😂😂😂 heck yeah!
Make sure you didn't leave any prints on that uhaul truck. That truck is being used for criminal activity possibly
That’s why you’re losing your money, not charging for the diagnostic

Jeff please call the shop and leave your number on the voicemail so I can call you please 🙏🏽

What’s a skip? Misfire
Yes
Don’t ohm test, voltage drop
I’ve only ever did a voltage drop test on starters etc. but I’d love to learn something new 🤗 I appreciate your input. Let me know
@yea I believe depending on how that computer sends the signal you could do battery(-) to the control on that circuit and should give the difference in potential. Or even better hook a scope up to it and see if the computer is sending out a signal on that circuit or if it’s sending one out what the pattern looks like.
@@dariuswilliams7890 I did hook up a scope prior to tearing it down
