    I started listening to music late 60s with Moody Blues, then prog rock happened. This track holds that same essence of exploration, energy, edge of the envelope, hunt the new combination of sounds, times, textures. For me Invalids are the carriers of the prog rock flame more than anyone else.

      Facts, and always has a huge smile while doing it. From what I understand he showed up initially as a drummer, or something like that and Pete was like, nah, grab a bass, we got drums covered already.

    The way this song builds through the last half genuinely touches my soul. All of the songs on the album are so unbelievably unique and well written. You all are truly a gift to music as an art form. I can't wait to see y'all on tour next month!!

    next to Tethered, this is my second favourite song on the album!
    The bassline is very reminiscent of Besaid Village from the FFX soundtrack, coincidentally, and somehow that makes this song so much better.

      That was my influence for the part 🌚 and Pete’s influence for the name!

      @@ray.bonanno Wait, Ray, are you serious?! The name is a pun on Besaid based on the bassline?! That melodic line (and song for the matter) stuck with me for such a long time when I was younger.
      That's super cool holy shit! Honestly I feel like a genius for noticing now thank you for the ego bost!

    been following since the first invalids tracks were released to the ether - every time you post another video I have to go back, listen to the whole catalogue again and scream the lyrics in my empty house. Thanks for everything ya'll do - I still have the diagram you made me of the chemical composition of the taste of celery. If you don't know by now, you may never know. Invalids forever.

    wasnt expecting this one to be one my favorites on the album. the consistent beat at the end of the song really has a 'hurtling toward inevitable death and despair' type feel
    magnificent.

    Dude, something about the way he rides that slow crash groove on the breakdown at 03:35 and the way everything comes together is a fucking masterclass in transitioning the energy of a song. That breakdown almost has a djent vibe. It's impossible not to bob your head when that hits! I commend all of you folks for cranking out this stuff consistently. It among the most complex, and intricate stuff out there, even as a musician listening I find myself having soooo much to break down in my head and pontificate on what you're doing, or how you're pulling it off. I'm still doing this kind of analyzation everytime I listen to the early pre-band records. I find something new everytime I hear it, or finally fully grasp the timing on something....this stuff is truly a gift, and I appreciate it infinitely.

      Heck yeah, that section was definitely Tigran-inspired. It was a lot of fun trying to make variations of that same persistent 13/8 rhythm. 💕💕

    So .. I'm guessing you all lock to the drummer in like... Almost isolation? And just trust the others are doing the same? Trying to imagine playing at this level of polyrhythms with others and... Yeah been a casual fan for years I still can't figure it out. I love maths, how y'all sync this and internalize it is still insane. Just.... All the hats off.

    • @invalidsband
      @invalidsband  18 дней назад

      When playing live yeah at least for me it’s mostly knowing which section requires syncing to which other part (usually something is keeping a consistent rhythm or beat, either drums, bass, or right guitar). Other times it’s mostly just knowing how many counts of a section I do before changing, and beyond that, just playing the same parts a hundred times until they’re second-nature 😅

    An absolutely insane, wonderful song! Just wondering, how do you practice tapping, and how were you able to build a technique with such insane speed and accuracy?

    • @invalidsband
      @invalidsband  Год назад

      I never really set out to practice it specifically, but basically in 2008 I stopped using a pick and never picked one up again lol so it just gradually led to writing faster and harder things. When I pick up a guitar I generally only practice songs we’re learning for recording/touring, or improvise random stuff 👾

    how is the composition process divided between everyone?

    • @invalidsband
      @invalidsband  7 месяцев назад +3

      It’s not haha; I (Pete (bald one)) write all the music in Tabit and then everyone learns their parts and records them independently. Then we get together to rehearse for live shows 🤖
