    There's also a super useful tool in Logic under File > Alternatives where you can create those unique alt. edits without having to do it all inside one project.

      For sure...a tiny bit more work than your method but then you have unique projects for each mix in case you ever need to go back and adjust something in a particular edit instead of working with the full, original project.
      Great video btw...thanks for sharing!

    Great info Jesse alt mixes 30secs, 10secs, 5secs....it depends on the conpany and how version they want of the alt mixes, the 30 sec mix is a must, its the longest version and if excepted they can break that down the way they sse fit... thumbs up!!!!!!! A producer must be technical when it comes to listening to the mp3 alt mixes, and listen for things that are just right and it could a small, FIX IT, AND THAT COULD MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN GETTING EXCEPTANCE, I ALWAYS LISTEN THE MIXES FIRST BEFORE MOVING FORWARD I WANT THEM TO BE RIGHT AND SOUND RIGHT.......

    Hey Jesse, a lot of great info here. Thanks for pulling back the curtain on these necessary steps behind-the-scenes. I'm really curious to know whether you give each of these alt-mixes their own ISRC code. Do you register each of these alt-mixes separately with your PRO to make sure you get all of the royalties earned?

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  7 Π»Π΅Ρ‚ Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄ +1

      Glad you're enjoying the videos! So I personally never usually register tracks because my libraries take care of that (my job is to log in and verify that the tracks are registered to my account), but yes each alt-mix gets it's own registration and number.

    Hi Jesse
    You have to put metadata on all songs and alt mixes, but WAV files don’t hold metadata. AIFF files do, so wouldn’t you convert files to AIFF or are the music libraries specifically requesting songs in WAV file format?

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  4 Π³ΠΎΠ΄Π° Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄ +2

      Who says you have to? I've been in this biz 12 years and have never put metadata on any of my audio tracks. I've also usually been requested to submit WAVs to Libraries throughout my career.

  • @agog33
    @agog33 2 Π³ΠΎΠ΄Π° Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄

    Hey! Thanks so much for this tutorial. I noticed that you use wav files. I heard that it's better exporting in aiff since it gives you the opportunity to add metadata to the file, something that will help with the placements. What do you think?

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  2 Π³ΠΎΠ΄Π° Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄ +1

      I've never been asked to include metadata in my files. Usually Libraries will either create the metadata for you or ask you to supply via an excel spreadsheet.

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  7 Π»Π΅Ρ‚ Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄ +2

      I don't deal with MetaData - the library adds that information to my tracks with their website.

    Should we be composing at 48k? I usually do 44.1. Does it affect the song if you bounce differently?

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  2 Π³ΠΎΠ΄Π° Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄ +1

      Many Libraries will require 48K files so it's prob a good idea to start composing in that format. And I don't think anyone can really hear the audible difference between the two - it's just a format issue when placing music in a TV show or movie.

    When you start your track a little before the bar, wouldn't that create bar alignment problems for the recipient when they load your stems into their project?

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  6 Π»Π΅Ρ‚ Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄ +1

      No because they usually won't need to drag your stems into their session on the grid to your bpm. If they need to pull up your stems it would just be so they can create their own unique alt-mix and if the stems line up perfectly, it doesn't matter if they were bounced from the start of a bar.

      sounds great, what guitar and guitar amp did you use? distortion pedal? did you record direct or a miked cabinet? if so what kind of cab/speakers. I mean did you use guitar rig or software? I mean these arent like sony samples from the sony loop library? and do people use those to submit music?

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  7 Π»Π΅Ρ‚ Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄ +1

      Plugged directly in and used the built-in guitar amp plugin that comes with Logic Pro X. No they're not loops - those are my creation. Some producers DO use guitar loops if they can't play guitar - nothing wrong with that as long as the guitar loops are royalty-free. Of course, you then run the risk of making tracks that many other producers can make as well.

    • @aliengtr
      @aliengtr 7 Π»Π΅Ρ‚ Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄

      by the way,I am not trying to be derogatory, but just curious, I mean for drums, is it like superior drummer or ez drummer or sony samples,because I want to use drum sounds but i dont play drums fr example,how much of these loops and virtual instruments are acceptable to create tracks that you can submit?

    • @aliengtr
      @aliengtr 7 Π»Π΅Ρ‚ Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄

      well your guitar tracks sound great. I have shied away from using anything virtual for now anyway.,but I listened to many tracks in a library and recognized many of these loops (especially the sony ones) but they can sound good.Maybe i am just used to the old school of actual instruments played by real people and realizing a lot of the music in libraries is not that,.
