A masterpiece played fabulously well by Mr Grimal..... This is such a magnificent orchestra I am always so impressed (and grateful) by their ability to play anything so well....
Indeed, a true masterpiece ! Schumann’s violin concerto is so unconventional and quite different from other violin concertos. The work is still hugely underrated and misunderstood after 170 years of the first appearance. Even Brahms and Clara Schumann did not understand it and wanted to destroy it 170 years ago at the time of Schumann’s death.

Almost everyone I've heard play this concerto uses the score. It must be very hard to memorize!!
It's REALLY long, too. Most people make huge cuts In the third movement which is a real pity.
