- Set to the beautiful tune of "Greensleeves", "What Child Is This" is one of my favourite traditional Christmas carols. The tune dates back to (at least) 1580, with the lyrics for "What Child Is This?" being written by William Chatterton Dix in 1865. I hope you enjoy my rendition; Happy Holidays!

My favorite line is "Haste, Haste to bring him laud", no one brings anyone laud anymore, and when they do they take their damn time doing it.
Here is some laud just for you. I apologize, I know I took my time.
you're a gem, Karl
@@RachelHardy I appreciate that, but can I point out this comment is two years old… so I think I made my point

In 1865, William Chatterton Dix was working as a manager for an insurance company. He was struck by an unexpected and serious illness that left him bedridden and suffering from severe depression. His near-death experience led to a spiritual renewal in him during his recovery. During this time, he read the Bible extensively and was inspired to sing hymns such as " Alleluia! Sing to Jesus! " and " As with Gladness Men of Old ". The exact date in 1865 when he wrote the poem "The Manger Throne" is disputed. While the St. Petersburg Times details how Dix composed the work after reading the Epiphany Gospel that year (Matthew 2:1-12), in which he recounted the journey of the biblical Magi, Singer's Library of Song: Medium Voice claims that it was actually written at Christmas 1865.
She is absolutely a siren.
👏👏👏 & happy holidays
