I think it's the best ride they could have put in this spot. I also think all coasters deserve lights this pretty. Video and photos don't do it justice.

Hangtime is absolutely the best ride they could have put in that spot. I just can't imagine how they could have put a better coaster there to replace Boomerang.
I disagree. I think they should have got an RMC Raptor.
It feels so good and HangTime really packs a punch, the only issue is I have to deal with headbanging but it's not that bad, just a bit on that one part, the drop really feels good, I also don't see how a better coaster could be built on that land.
Cons: Thoosies will complain about the "rattle" even though it doesn't affect the experience at all

Pro tip: If you don't want to get stapled on a coaster, don't leave a ton of room on your lap bar. Of course that will staple you. Make the lap bar comfortably tight against your body at the beginning, and the coaster won't jam it shut! I have never had a problem with the lap bars on this, or any of the other coasters where people complain about stapling. Leaving room is always a recipe to get stapled. This applies to RMCs as well. Sure, less "airtime," but is it worth it? You can still feel all the forces of the coaster with a comfortably tight lap bar! These Infinity lap bars are actually some of my favorite out there.
I honestly really like Hangtime , one pro I would add to this list is that the layout is amazing and almost all of the elements are great
All the elements are great except that one element with headbanging, I think it's the non inverted loop.

@@OklahomaCoasterFan Ghost Rider is my favorite, with Silver Bullet and Hangtime being close seconds. This coaster is the most unique in the park, and if you've never ridden any extreme coasters and are visiting Knott's, go on Ghost Rider first, and then on Hangtime because they are both top tier coasters.

I love the way this coaster looks from all throughout the park. Especially from the Silver Bullet queue line. I miss KBF so much and I really hope it reopens soon.

When I was GP, I was there opening day, (completely on accident) and the line was super long so I didn't ride it. Came back a year later as a Thusie and had a ton of fun, but it was a little rattly and there were definitely some flaws.
If Knott's gets a hyper coaster they should call it "Airtime"
They should also rename GhostRider "Helix" or "Laterals" because of the helix.

@@bandmfanboy I would have been SO MUCH happier if they took out Coast Rider and put in a proper B&M Dive machine here instead of Hangtime. They could have given it a surf theme to go along with the Boardwalk.
@@joeygassmann5595 Maybe the dive could also take over Hangtime's plot and be like Oblivion at Alton Towers and have it be underground. It probably would have more hangtime than Hangtime.
Here's how to make Hangtime amazing. Have a slow lift up the lift hill followed by a free fall back down the lift hill (similar to Karnan.) Then shoot up the lift hill like the hill on Wicked at Lagoon and then it just continues the layout as it currently stands. This would require no additional track but make it incredible.

@@DoswarePictures I'm trying to keep it simple. I guess you could further copy Karnan by putting the lift hill in an enclosed tower but I think that would be too unrealistic (though it would be really cool.) Also, even if everyone knew the backward fall was coming I think people would still freak out about it just like on a drop tower.
I loved it when I finally got to ride it last year before the pandi! That ride opening around my birthday in 18' Gave me a reason to lose over 100 lbs after that in a year so I can ride coasters again! Thats the big reason this ride does mean a lot to me, that test seat haha
Even though I have a much, MUCH superior Gerstlauer infinity coaster near me (Smiler), I still adore this ride so much! Also Gerstlauer does always include a few airtime moments on their inversion based rides! Like on the Smiler it has two ejector hills
monster at Adventureland is the better infinity coaster compared to this one.

With the Rattle on shell raiser when I rode just a couple weeks ago I definitely noticed it. The structure also sways a lot so that could contribute to it.
Hopefully Knott’s will add a RMC Raptor soon but do it with the idea for Silverwood make an 8 car train to a 10 car train! If they added it into Ghost Town that would be great because then we have 2 airtime machine coasters back there Ghost Rider and the Raptor!!! And the airtime will be different because while the Raptor will pull quick pops of ejector, Ghost Rider will be more sustained ejector especially with that best drop on any coaster, THE DROP OFF THE MIDCOURSE BRAKE RUN!!!
I just love the movement of that first non-inversion after the main drop. It just feels like the train is slowly tipping from right to left. Its such a unique feeling. Then right after is the stall loop, which is also one of the best parts of the ride.
For the Bonus Con, you can actually request seats, it just depends on the employee who is in-charge of assigning seats, just ask and they sometimes grant it.
I love Hangtime. I agree this is the best Knott’s could do with this spot. I think the rattle is dependent on factors like the time of day, temperature, rider weight distribution on the train, especially since Knott’s has a lot of slow days where they run the trains nearly empty.
LMAO the ghostrider plug at the last pro. you ain't wrong tho, I had the chance to go on a night ride and wow that was such an intense experience.
I grew up with a Gerstlauer, and I can say that all most all Gerstlauers have either a slight or a bad rattle and as far as I know all of Gerstlauer’s extreme coasters have the problem with the restraints coming down during the ride, although if you fight the restraint like your fighting a bear it shouldn’t come down to much. 🤣
I’m looking forward to riding The Smiler later this year, but I’ve heard some not so good things about it... especially that cobra roll...
Yeah forgot to mention. Gerstlauer dose first drops really well with the beyond vertical and all, especially if you don’t get stapled by the ops.
I definetly agree with you on the stapling factor. I went to Knotts back in March 2019 and rode it twice. Both times my thighs were being literally crushed from the lap bars. I wish that the lap bars locked but oh well. I really really liked the ride but the stapling is legit and it was not fun at all.
The only time I felt a rattle on HangTime is everytime when it exits the cutback, but it is bearable, and I can feel it on every seat, and every row.

At first I thought Hangtime was really cool, as it was my first infinity coaster. But after riding it over 30 times in 2019, I liked it less and less, and would only jump on it if it was a walk-on. I have it ranked below Ghostrider, Xcelerator and Silver Bullet, but just ahead of Zooma. My favorite moment is the ejector hill, which tells you something about a coaster boasting its inversions. It does have a rattle, but I don't care, it doesn't ruin the ride for me at all. Xcelerator rattles a lot more and I LOVE that ride.

I’ve ridden this over 10 times and I can confirm all of this is accurate.
Also I usually ask for the row I want and they just have me wait a bit, it’s not guarantee every time but all my rides I sit where I want.
Me and my friends live 30 minutes from knotts and we come once every week in the summer and a tradition we do is sit-ups on the life hill and it’s really fun
I pretty much agree with your points and I rank HangTime about the same as you. It is out my Top 50 and is my third favorite coaster at Knott's. I think Cedar Fair may have been using the California parks as a test grounds for the Infinity Coaster and Raptor model. Time will tell if that is the case. Lightning package is awesome, just not as awesome as a GhostRider night ride.
I'm thankful this ride fixed the original seatbelts. Those really hurt load times. I enjoy HangTime since it does a lot in a small space.
I love hangtime cause I’m one of its operators, and even though you don’t care for the preferred seating rule but it helps cause if we didn’t do it everyone would ask for the front.
Theme parks that do assign seating and accommodating to row seats request should do ,due to the popularity of front or back row a boarding pass is required to ride those row on busy days
I went on this ride for the first time few days ago, at 46 years old i was terrified lol.. ill prob never do it again .. cool video.😂
Its not the only ride with the rattle in the back. Ghost Rider does it as well. I think its one of the fun elements of being in the back on those rides

Here's an idea coming off your comment about the lift hill, how about a countdown of your favorite coaster lift hills? Showing some love to some of the more exciting boring parts of a coaster, if that makes any sense.
The worst coaster lift hill is Dragon Mountain at Marineland, because it doesn’t play the song of the same name from The Backyardigans.
Such a good ride! I remember the first time I rode it I didn’t think much of it just by looking at it. Because it looked so much smaller than some of the rides around it like Supreme Scream and Xcelerator. But man when I finally got on it I quickly realized how small I really am. We have a dive coaster down here in San Diego called Emperor at Sea World, it’s much bigger but I think I still prefer Hangtime because of that 90 degree lift hill and like he said in the video it just so pleasing to the eye when it’s lit up at night.
I’m usually not a big fan of change, like if something was fine the way it was why change it. Boomerang (roller coaster that preceded Hangtime) was fine but I will say Hangtime is much better
I think HangTime is a very fun ride. Many people I know get mad that it replaced Boomerang which is ridiculous. I agree that the lapbars can tighten easily; especially myself as a tall rider!

I understand complaining about being stapled, but at some point there's a difference between being crushed, and being secure. I think this is where your fault lies with Skyrush. When you purposely try and create a larger gap, you allow the ride to forcefully close it.
I've noticed with Skyrush, anytime I leave too much of a gap, the force pushes it down harder than if I had just left a reasonable amount of space in the first place.

I finally got to ride this recently. 2nd row then 1st row at night. Definitely got stapled toward the end of that first ride so on the second I really worked to hold that lap bar up - and it worked! But I was so focused on holding it up I kinda missed the admittedly short ride, ha. Next time I'm sure I'll have the balance right.
I really like it, super fun layout. Also excellent paint choices, sandy tan supports blue track, how thematic! Most of my credits are in SoCal (man I gotta get back to SeaWorld....) seems like people with more credits get more critical of this, which makes sense. Knott's is a surprisingly well-rounded little park. After panning for gold it gave me my first dive coaster, so that's pretty cool.
Oh right: No rattle on my daytime ride, but even in the front I was aware of at least one big rattle moment on my night ride. Temps are swinging a lot this time of year, so I'll blame that. How can we overcome it? Internally heating the ride to maintain a constant temp? Actually that sounds reasonable to me.
Well i may have gotten whiplash from this ride but if your not like me and actually keep your head back you will have the ride of your life

It was the first vertical lift I’ve ridden, also the first time I got scared on a roller coaster 🤣

I'm actually indifferent to Hangtime. I also went first day and noticed the rattle right off the bat. I was legit shocked and was not expecting it on a brand new coaster. I've ridden it maybe about 50 times since it opened and I've never been like the biggest fan of it. My favorite part of the ride is that small dip right before the Cobra Roll. I'll ride it just for that one moment alone. However, I do feel that it was the best fit for the park given the space constraints.
It's also beautiful to look at like you said. When I visited the park with my mother in law and mom prior to COVID, they both sat by hangtime for over an hour talking about how crazy people are to get on it..HAHA! So it definitely is a spectacle for guests that's for sure.
I also think that, all things considered, the queue is also quite cool. It's interesting to have the train roaring above you
Man that thing was super rerideable. I think most rides I got on it was 16 in a day. Can't wait to get back to knott's.
Hangtime is pretty good, my only real complaint is the thigh pain, but its not too bad. 5th in the park tho... Montezoomas is underrated
Well, Great escape has gone 16 years without ANY new coaster. sfne is 90 minutes away from me, but great escape is my home park. They need a coaster like an infinity coaster, but they'll never get one. 😭😭😭😭😭

I think the hold break is great, but they could probably add/remove something so it plummets after the release, instead of inching forward

PRO'S AND CON'S ORION!!!
Knotts is my home park and I agree with these. All my GP friends thought it was the most thrilling thing ever during its opening year, with the vertical lift, lap bars, and dive-coaster pause at the top. But after getting over the novelty of that first drop, it's a solid #3 in the park behind Xcelerator and ghost rider.
I actually put Hangtime at #2 in the park because Xcelerator broke down on the brake run while I was on it, though Hangtime is pretty much a one trick pony.
@@bandmfanboy I'll give you that; Xcelerator is far from the most consistent ride in terms of maintenance. But when it's working, I'll take it over Hangtime any day.
this is the only inverted coaster i've ridden besides incredicoaster and i loved it omg. i just went with my friend during covid and she was too scared to join me so i sat in the back row all by myself (didn't notice any rattle?). 10/10 would do again and now i want to try even more intense coasters!

Honestly, the airtime on the drop felt much more intense than the double down in my opinion when I rode it
Fr, that’s the only part you get real airtime on this ride because you aren’t really stapled yet, while on the double down the lap bar is already tightened so you feel your stomach drop more than actually floating from the ejector airtime.

Only ones I’ve been on is Hydrus and Rock Bottom Plunge. On Rock Bottom Plunge I noticed the slight rattle and seemed to shake a little. Knotts is definitely a park I hope to hit up soon! Thanks for the info.
I've had 6 rides on Hangtime and I've never noticed any rattle. Also, I've found that the lapbars won't tighten as long as you don't touch them during the ride. If you just put your hands up the whole time or hold onto the handle bars on the sides of the seat then the lapbar won't tighten.
hangtime is my favorite ride at knotts, the only con i have is that odd transition between the corkscrew and tongue inversion thing
The lighting on this coaster is pretty fun. During Summer Nights (2019) I was able to control the lighting of Hangtime through a lighting console, which was definitely a once in a lifetime job. If anyone rode it then when it was strobing, sorry I couldn’t help it 😅
Hang time is awesome
I think Hang Time is a great fit at Knott's, the park needed a good looping sit-down coaster with decent capacity that could fit in a compact space, and it delivered on all fronts. Even if it's not the best coaster in the park, it really rounded out their collection.

Chris, if you want a lap bar that locks in one position, check out Steel Curtain and Maxx Force, the lap bars are super comfortable and won’t come down farther
People dont seem to make much ado about the lifthill. I think it was the most fear inducing part. Straight up with a tiny seat to hold you suspended in air. I felt like I was going to fall off. Not to mention the sun in your face.
I just went to knotts today and I didn’t want to go near this ride it looked so f-ing terrifying i dont even think it was open and I was still scared if it

Its developed an insane rattle from the corkscrew on. It hurts my back after just one ride, and it’s hard to marathon. I absolutely love this ride though, I’d love to see it get re tracked. But that pot hole the top of the corkscrew? Terrible.
I was and still am so grateful to have Hangtime but I’m also jealous that Great America got Railblazer instead of us 😒
But there’s still no denying that a Gerstlauer infinity is infinitely better than a boomerang.
Magic Mountain is constructing a very similar type of ride right now that's themed to Wonder Woman if that's of any consolation and it will be even larger than Railblazer. ;)
Kinda shows you how masterful the smiler is...this seems like a great ride for the plot...but 30 more feet by 30 more feet gives you that much more ride, just wow

Con: on April fools they keep the car at the top of the drop for an entire hour as a prank, which is kind of funny in hindsight, but I really had to go to the restroom.

@@AirtimeThrills This happened to me when I got stuck on top of Falcons Fury at Busch Gardens Tampa. I almost wet myself we were up there for almost an hour and I already had to go after waiting in line for 45 min. Awesome ride though but it's known to breakdown a lot. Typical Intamin...
Pro: It replaced Boomerang.
Hang time is just an all-out fun ride, not too intense but not too tame.
For me it's the third best ride at Knott's behind Xcelerator and Ghost Rider.
I think Knotts made the right choice. Hangtime is the best ride you could put into that space. The plot of land is very small so I think they maximized what they could do. And the ride is a lot of fun.

Love the video! But man what happens with you and lap bars? Been on this one a ton of times and never once felt the lap bar jamming down on me by the end, always super comfy. But yeah it’s a decent coaster, I agree with your assessment here for the most part!
