    I am a German student and this talk reminded me of one thing very clearly:
    I can never be thankful enough to the United States of America for saving us from the Red Death of Communism. If there hadn't been a Judeo-Christian superpower in the 20's century the world would have fallen to the hands of the Russians or us Germans and Socialism had ever since ruled the world.
    And I can never be thankful enough to the american People for having voted Trump in office in 2016.
    I know there are many news outlets and media in Europe who make it sound like we hate Trump. But I know my parents who are most faithful christians are thankful that Trump is there for Israel and the values of the West.
    All the best to you guys!

      Well, the soviets still were in control of half of europe during the last century, murdering millions of people, more than enough germans. It wasn't exactly as wonderful as one might want to think.

      Dr. Prager does a masterful job explaining why DT was chosen and is heavily supported by religious people.
      Ben goes into intellectual mode and gets stuck.
      Here's the deal, Ben ,You know i love you (smile), but...
      Humans dont do everything we REASON they should do, what we FEEL that should do.
      DT is not perfect.You, Ben are not perfect.
      This is why...I'm telling YOU, your intellectual side is blurring the picture.
      We are ALL growing from this very unusual era.

    Dennis Prager, There is a very good reason that you say you don't have an emotional connection to God. Just as you cannot taste your food with your ear or your eye, so you cannot reach God with your mind or emotion or will. "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truthfulness" (John 4:24, Recovery Version). You have to use the right organ to contact God, which is your spirit. Then the connection is effortless and sweet, but until then all effort is vain. Think of your spirit as a radio and God as the radio waves. The radio has to be turned on before the radio can receive the transmission of the radio waves. God is always ready and willing to connect with us, but we have to use our connecting organ, our spirit.

    You can blame the MSM for the persistent mischaracterization of what President Trump said in Charlottsville. There were 4 groups at Charlottsville; 1) people who viewed confederate statues as offensive and wished them removed from public spaces, 2) people who supported the value of statues as history and public art, and 3-4) protesters from Antifa, and neo-nazis who both seized and co opted the demonstration for their own ends. When President Trump stated there were good people on both sides he was referring to groups 1 and 2 as that was initially what the public demonstration was about. After the media went into a frenzy and distorted his comment President trump publicly clarified his remarks. Of course, this clarification got minimal coverage.

      Ben knows better, but there are times (and that was one of them) when Ben is VERY careful to not say something that would draw too much fire from the mainstream, he does not want to be called irrelevant over and over again until they make it true and he is ostracized. He's careful to be JUST edgy enough that he's "respectable" by the establishment. Unfortunately that is a weakness that holds him back. If the right and the left are both tricked into believing a lie, so 90+% of the population believes it, he's not going to go against it most of the time. He might put his own spin on it to try and sound like he has a unique view, but ultimately he'll come at it from the same set of assumptions that 'everyone' is operating under.

      If you do some deep research on what happened in Charlottesville last year, including watching videos posted by individuals attending the rally, you'll find that the main stream media pushed a hard core narrative about what happened that day. There were non-white people attending the rally in favor of not removing statues, yet I could not find a single video broadcast by the MSM that showed that. Look up the Charlottesville 32 for example. The MSM reported that they were armed nazis attending the rally while the truth is they were a neutral peace keeping force led by a Puerto Rican man. In fact, citizens of Charlottesville invited them back and thanked them for their deeds that day such as breaking up fights, treating the injured, and escorting people to safety. As an individualist, it is common sense to look at that whole situation objectively and see that there were actually good people on both sides that day. Even some of the most intelligent people I know were suckered by the MSMs narrative about Charlottesville and that's scary.

      Exactly! Ben NEEDS people to agree with him or he doesn’t get his fix of feeling intellectually and morally superior. He took an L on that subject.
      But Prager gets it exactly right. Trump was talking about the good people who happened to be there on both sides, not the vile people who were there on both sides. Ben can’t see the forest through the trees with issues like that because he has to place himself on a moral pedestal.

    At the 51:38 mark, Ben says, "...Let's say he [Trump] says something about Charlottesville and it's something that I find distasteful...". Then Dennis says, "We may have a difference of understanding. And I have perused this a tremendous number of times. He didn't say there were good Nazis and...". Ben disagrees, saying, "He said there were 'good people on both sides', on the Friday night...". Dennis then asks, "Wasn't that about statues?" Ben disagrees again, saying, "The Friday night was a white supremacist march." Dennis challenges him with this question: "Do you think he was saying there were good Nazis? Do you believe he believes there are good Nazis?" But rather than giving a direct answer to Dennis' direct question, Ben squirms, saying, "I think he was saying there were good people who were marching...with the Nazis to the statue, which I..." Dennis then says, "Here's my 'Talmudic' proof that he didn't say that." Ben says, "Okay." Dennis: "Because he doesn't believe there's good Antifa." Rather than accepting this fair point, Ben squirms again, saying, "No, but I think the easy way for him to say things is there's good people on both sides." Dennis: "Right, but he doesn't believe there's any good Antifa." Ben: "I'm not sure that he thinks things through to the extent necessary to actually..." Dennis: "Okay. Whether he does or doesn't..." Ben: "The point is not Charlottesville -- and I'm happy to argue Charlottesville. We can go back through the texts and we'll bring out our Talmuds and we can actually look through the legislative history of what he said..." Did Ben accept Dennis' point? Nope. Did he change his tune on Charlottesville and acknowledge that Trump was right about good people being on both sides of the statue controversy? Nope. Did he cling to his weak argument by shifting the goal posts? Yes, he did. Did he abruptly end the debate because it was making him look bad? Yes, he did. // At first, Ben accused Trump of saying something "distasteful" in Charlottesville. (This, of course, was in reference to the "Fake News" lie that Trump had called Nazis "good people".) Then when Dennis dismantled his whole point, he accused Trump of taking the "easy way" and insulted him for lacking the ability to "think things through". Trump never said anything "distasteful" in Charlottesville. It was a huge lie created and perpetuated by the corrupt Mainstream Media. Yet Ben swallowed it hook, line and sinker. How could a guy as smart and perceptive as Ben Shapiro fall for such lies? What is wrong with him? What is wrong with anyone who would assist Hillary Clinton in her efforts to win -- no STEAL -- the White House and destroy our country?

      Trump's political success is largely due to his unwillingness to be calculating. He comes across as a guy who casts caution to the wind and says exactly what he means. If Ben is being "careful not to side with or bash Trump too much because he is looking to his future political aspirations", then his misguided attempt to piss no one off is going to piss everyone off. Hedging bets and playing both sides are the tactics of gutless politicians. Ben needs to learn from Trump. He gains nothing by constantly insulting and belittling him. Having said that, I think chefmarcos is right. Ben is cautiously setting the table for a presidential run. Unfortunately, he's putting the knives and forks on the wrong sides of the plate.

    • @touchoflight124
      @touchoflight124 6 лет назад

      Sko ducks Interesting point. I guess my answer to this won't be satisfactory to you but I'll try nevertheless. I do admit on the face of it, that particular point is problematic and religious people shouldn't try to gloss over or cover it up but try and face up to it.
      I come at this from a Christian perspective, and I'm fairly confident it's a lot different to the Jewish one. Christians see much of the Old testament as a foreshadowing of Christ, with prominent people like Moses, David and Elijah being specific fore-images of the Christ that would come. In much the same way, the people of Israel, described as being the people of God throughout the old testament, is a foreshadowing of the entire body of Christ that would come, gentiles being included. The people of God are often described as being servants or slaves to Him. To non-believers it sounds distasteful I'm sure, but if there is a God, I don't think it's that ridiculous to say that He would be like a master to us, a perfect master who wants only good for us and that we would be glad to serve.
      Given this, the differential treatment of servitude from hebrew/non-hebrew servants that is given, which I think comes from the book of Leviticus, makes a bit more sense. Since non-hebrews aren't people of God, when they are taken into the family they become a part of it. And given God's laws such as everyone being made equal and loved equally by God, supersedes anything and everything, bad treatment of slaves were not permissible in any way. The book of Job, Job talks about how he and the slaves in his household were created equal before the eyes of God is another example. And the passage from Leviticus that directly talks about this issue, isn't endorsing the institution of slavery but rather how to treat slaves that you acquire from other lands. In other areas of the bible where Jewish Kings sought to institute slavery it is said that they fell out of favour in God's sight and were bound to follow after evil (1 Kings 11:6; 2 Chronicles 12:14).
      I doubt this is very convincing to you but since you raised a good point I answered it to the best of my abilities. It's in no way the best the Christian community has to offer so if you're continuously troubled by this issue, I'd recommend that you seek after more informed explanations with an open mind :)

    • @skoducks6071
      @skoducks6071 6 лет назад +1

      I kinda skimmed this because the whole slavery issue isn't a big sticking point for me either way, I was more concerned with men who know better being disingenuous, but I appreciate your answer and effort. I was a Christian too and am still Bible literate and I understand that the concept of being a slave to Christ isn't corrupt to you in the context that you believe it.
      I would raise the point though that, I believe at least, slavery is wrong primarily because it is wrong to own other people as property. How you treat your slaves is tangent to the issue of slavery's morality.
      May we both keep open minds in the future.

    • @touchoflight124
      @touchoflight124 6 лет назад +2

      jason666king There is a thing called “jubilee” in Jewish tradition that freed all slaves from bondage every 50 years, which shows that the situation is very complex and I think you do it a disservice by simply applying your modern understanding of slavery to it. For christians, the bible on the whole decries the practice of slavery and it’s only when you cherrypick certain passages that you could possible derive a rationale for it. The passages that do talk about slavery, prager hints at some answers here and others have more nuanced and detailed answers concerning it.

    • @jason666king
      @jason666king 6 лет назад

    These videos talking about God and religion has actually made me think about starting to go to church, honestly. I've always been agnostic but living an overwhelmingly godless society this day in age has made me lean more towards starting to practice, I think this country needs more God. Notice how where there is evil and where all the bad things happen and where the bad people are is where God is not. listening to highly intellectual conversations like this has given me a new perspective on God. I've never had disbelief but my philosophy of this subject is this, we were put on this earth by who knows what, (probably god) but NO ONE is 100% sure, but remember WE were put here, WE did not create this earth, how could WE deny something exists when WE werent the first things to exist? Like when we make huge discorveries that seem unbelievable, it is unbelievable because we didnt create it, we were put here, why is it so hard for people to at least acknowledge the fact that you cant KNOW that something exists when you were put here, just like how if you visit another planet and you see some weird shit, or just outer space for Christ sake, you don't know anything about it, So what you ask yourself is "how could i deny phenomenon when i dont know anything about where i am? Anything could exist, you just cant KNOW what exists and what doesnt. So why deny it?" Its kind of like how you cant tell the future, you dont know what can happen, you just cant. and everything on this planet and outside of it is just mind blowing, like how could nature just create all of this? I mean look at human life for example, why was my soul put specifically into the sperm I came from? Why didn't my soul get assigned to a different body? My father had 2 children with his first wife and then me and my 2 siblings cane from him and his second wife, my mother, how come I wasn't the first? How come I didn't come out of that first wife? I came from my dad of course, but here is the thing to think about, how could nature determine where a soul is assigned into this earth? Why were we put where we are? How come my soul was put into THIS family and not another? I feel like God is the only explanation, I think we were put exactly where we are for a reason, I believe in free will as well, but everything I believe happens for a reason. Some of this probably doesn't make sense because its hard to explain these thoughts on a RUclips comment. But yeah, for all you atheists out there, you cant just know whether something exists or not when WE have only been on earth for so long and the fact that WE DIDNT CREATE EVERYTHING, so how can you deny existence of something in a place when you weren't there FIRST. ANYTHING can exist. That's all I have to say. Thanks Ben and Dennis, y'all are the REAL ones

    The thing with these two guys, and I love Ben and admire Dennis , but they try to interpret the bible (old testament) without the knowledge of Jesus. Slavery, judgement etc are all understood better after Jesus, e.g. slavery to sin and flesh not slavery to people, judgement being met with mercy in Jesus and not just God's judgment on sinners. Then you understand that God is not talking or promoting slavery in the natural sense like the atheists claim. God's plan of redemption is only appreciated when we understand the enormity of the fall and the sacrifice of Jesus. But what a great video. So interesting. I love having them in this world.

    • @ExireHG
      @ExireHG 5 лет назад

      The Old Testament itself is an interpretation of the Torah. So, on that alone, I'd have to disagree on the very premise of your argument itself. There's also foolishness in interpreting the Bible for modernity or to service one's own personal ends. On religion both Ben and Dennis are crazily ignorant. Taking pure faith and saying it's rational, absurd. To be fair, I find Sam Harris' stance on free will is also bizarre as well.

    • @davidlevi2237
      @davidlevi2237 5 лет назад

      @@ExireHG if you think about it, its highly rational to accept that there's a gd solely on faith. For instance, if you visit your local library, you will notice how all the books are organized by a specific order on the bookshelves. It may be alphabetically or by genre. Even if you didn't know English, you would still be able to assume that there's a specific order in how someone placed the books on the shelves, since all the books on a certain shelf begin with the same foreign letter. The same can be said about our universe: it's highly irrational to believe that our world can be formed by chance. The way how everything has to be in sync with one another, and a lot of natural processes are dependent on one another demonstrates the incredible unlikelihood of these things happening by coincidence. There has to be a Creator that created everything perfectly so that it can provide habitation for life. That's just my opinion. I'll be glad to hear your views on this

He said that today, people are more religious because they are free to choose religion, rather than just be subsumed into the larger culture. I concur. Around 2010 I came to a sad realization. There's never been a fully "conservative" president in terms of actual governance. Reagan was obviously the closest to the idea but he was forced to compromise since the Democrats were in power in Congress. I had pretty much given up on the idea of conservatism as we knew it. Trump is the most "conservative" president we've had (I'm speaking of modern conservatism) In fact, it's not even close. It's actually quite shocking. I think Ben has a pride hurdle that makes it difficult to fully come over but he even admitted in this video that he may vote for Trump in 2020.

I am also not an atheist, I know there is more to the universe and we are all connected but the idea that some being magically created everything is less likely than evolution. I will say that I know it sounds crazy but a good 5 grams of psilocybin containg mushrooms and a dark room or the woods will show you that there is more to the universe. I just think that religion sure was a good way to control the masses back in the day. And just because they are old ideas doesn't make them correct.

      George Lucas it certainly is sensible to arm any capable teacher that qualifies to carry. It works in several schools that do just that.

      Agreed, but Prager sees it as the de facto solution. Most public sector teachers shouldn't be anywhere near firearms.

    Amazing interview. Although I am a big Ben Shapiro fan, Dennis Prager was far superior than him on the topics of religion and politics. Even Prager's communication skills dominated Shapiro.
