2001: Seattle Seahawks vs Washington Redskins Remastered NFL Highlights

  • Marty-ball anyone? Why not! The Redskins continued to dig their way out of a moribund 0-5 start, toppling Seattle, 27-14, for Washington’s third straight win. Stephen Davis carried the load with 142 yards on 32 carries and a close-enough touchdown (did he break the plane? - you decide). Seattle’s Trent Dilfer bibble-di-bumbled a four turnover performance that was a real crowd-pleaser for the home fans at FedEx Field.
This was the final Redskins-Seahawks meeting as an inter-conference match-up (hence the CBS coverage), with Seattle hopping from AFC to NFC as part of the NFL’s 2002 realignment. As such, we get one last look at the ‘Hawks’ bygone silver uni’s associated with their fairly forgettable AFC run. The win was the first of 6 straight regular season wins for Washington over Seattle from 2001-2011 (did they meet in the playoffs during that time?… don’t remind me).
Remastered to 1080p from an original (though a little blurry) VHS recording for good-hearted Redskins fans to savor.

Just wanted to pass along how much I’m enjoying these old games you post! Many pre date my fandom so it’s been super cool to experience many of these games for the first time! Or relive some great memories of more recent games!

That’s very kind of you to say! This whole project is partly a mourning exercise - a farewell to all things truly Redskin, and partly to educate my nephews (in their mid 20’s) about the team’s glory days and why the older generation (which I guess I’m part of now, oh well) feels such a sense of attachment and loss regarding the Skins of yesteryear.
Many more game highlights to come, bouncing around from season to season to keep it interesting. Thanks for watching!

@@RetroSkins I’m 28 but have been following since around 04-05. So I missed out on all the glory years but have a deep respect and understanding for that period in the franchises history. I still love and support the team but it’s definitely a little different now.

@@averybrugh3101 I refer to them as “the new team” now. There’s really nothing left of the old days now. But that’s ok. All things end and it heightens my appreciation for what it was.

@@RetroSkins agreed. The new name is also super generic to me so I don’t know what exactly to think. Life goes on though

I was gonna ask if anyone knew why this NFC game was on CBS. Then it dawned on me that this was the last season that the Seahawks were in the AFC. Duh.

HTTR! Hope new ownership changes Dan Snyder's despicable hand-picked branding to something actually tolerable. Can't buy back in under this disaster of a rebrand.

skins fans from this time, what did Brad Johnson do wrong to deserve getting canned? Yall had some awful quarterbacking play from then on... until today even
