Maybe he was starstruck. Can you imagine a one on one training session with one of the best second basemen in the MLB? I'd probably be tongue tied too. Just because he's not saying much doesn't mean he doesn't love every second he's on that field with Pedroia.
I would have gotten the yips and wouldn't have even been able to warm up. Fun stuff to see a big league player giving a few tips to a kid, (and hundreds of thousands of RUclips viewers)...thx Pedroia.
I dont play baseball, but the things I noticed that stood out to me that were not mentioned: Pedroia has an excellent split-step right as the ball is hit, timing a split step that well only comes from great practice and anticipation, and his throwing motion to first is very smooth...he rotates his shoulders very well even when out of position and has an easier time making that throw due to the side arm motion
relley mistyflip322 chances like this should only be given to prospects screw everybody else.. a chance of a lifetime to learn ball from Dustin pedroia...that's Dustins choice if he wasted his time or not Dustin fulfilled this kids dream that made the kid happy weather where special needs or not we all have a right to learn and we should be happy for him weather his is a prospect or not
they're talking shit because opportunities of a lifetime like this almost always go to some kid that won't make it past middle school in whatever sport they're playing. shit like this should be given to kids that have great potential to make it someday and kids that will actually make pedroia's time worth while; however long this lesson took it was definitely a complete waste of time and reps for pedroia. doesn't make any sense that future prospects don't get a chance like this
I would do anything to have a one on one lesson with Dustin Pedroia, and I don't even play second. And it pissed me off when I see some 10 year old kid, that honestly is a little horrible (I see some potential though), get that opportunity because daddy has enough money. Yet I'm sitting on my computer with my 200 dollar glove sitting on my head watching this video.
There sure are a lot of bitter people commenting on this video! Can't anyone be happy that some kid got to live out a dream and practice with Pedroia without being pissed at him?
That kid didn't look to happy to be having a private lesson from Dustin pedroia
that kid wasnt all that good and he throws like a sissy
Ian Santiago Personal experience talking?

That kid just stuck up he said nothing atleast be happy you have that special opportunity
He is soooo lucky!!!!
Can I have a DP fit glove I want to grow up to be like Dustin and make it to the MLB on the Boston Red Sox and wear a glove like him
It will mean just as much to an average kid...he'll remember that forever since he never got the chance to play for real
He is about 5ft. 10in. if I can remember correctly.
If you would have seen Pedroia at that age you probably would have said the same thing because of his size. Now look where he's at.
That's true too.. but what's it got to do with what I said?
Hell Yeah I Got A Glove My Own Glove Given To Me By Alex Rodriguez Former SS Of The Mariners And Rangers
Dusty reminds me of my uncle...
He didnt say "nothing" , pedroia was just telling him not to say "nothing".
I Am A Upcoming MLB Prospect Outfielder Who Needs Nelson Cruz To Teach Me How To Be A Better Outfielder With Power And Cannon Arm
Some people have natural talent, a very select few.

that kid is almost the same height as Pedroia ROFLMAOOOOOO Pedroia is like 5-3
Dustins good but dat dude bp is better
If he really wants to learn to play second base, he should go to the south bronx and talk to robinson cano.
I wanna fake it and then get seen getting off. And get bigger oppurtunities
he won't though
pedroia is barely taller than that kid
I don't think kids his age are turning double plays
are his parents rich or something
@blackswede333 Why not give an "average" kid a little special time.
@ッyoitzpat Someone who deleted their comment.. this was over 8 years ago dude.
i know you're NOT reading this** what you meant to say
Why not give the kids that work their asses off and don't get anything for it a little special time.

You just had a private lesson with Dustin Pedroia at Fenway Park and when he asks you what you got from it you say "nothing"?
he is making pedroia look bad

Eric Hwang when I was nine, I played with kids in an older grade and still hit .450 and strated either 2nd or shortstop.

Tweener alert
That kid isn't that good if I got that chance I wouldn't let DP leave until I was exactly like him.
