Hats off to all referees for the abuse and pressure they have to deal with. I had a broken arm so I was made ref for my school indoor football match & the abuse was stunning, I can’t begin to imagine what it must be like for professional refs.
Such a great interview, getting to know a world class referee on a more personal level, seeing how they see things and what they have to go through, gotta admit, as a United fan, i sometimes hated Clattenburg's ass, but watching this, whole lotta respect for him and every other referee.
VAR didn't spoil the game the so-called professional footballers who dive to the ground for the slightest tap spoiled the game there is no sportsmanship in football anymore it's full of professional drivers it's an absolute 🤡 show these day's
VAR has not ruined football at all. It has drastically improved it. It is the way VAR is implemented in England that has somewhat ruined the way games CAN go or end. The referees are protecting themselves, rather than protecting what is right by the laws of the game. Do away with the "clear and obvious error" scenarios. If the decision is wrong, its wrong. Stop trying to protect the referee on the pitch. Nobody cares about a human making a human error if it is then amended and corrected. Also, for offsides the lines must be drawn by GPS and not by a human hand or human operating a computer. It must be guaranteed as completely square and parallel to guarantee accuracy. Stop telling the referees on the pitch what to do before they go to the video review screen and allow them to make their own decision. Goal or no goal reviews due to interference with play, offsides, or fouls; should not be decided by one VAR official. There should be a panel of 5. Similar to a jury. 2 former Premier League players that are guaranteed as indifferent based on their locality, playing career, and allegiances (similar to how referees are selected to adjudicate certain games and not others) and 3 referees. The decisions must be unanimous. IF they are not unanimous, the on field referee has the final call after a video review. Finally, when the ball goes out of play, when play is stopped for an injury, foul, or freekick/penalty: the clock stops. No more guess-timating injury time or exaggerating injury time. This will result in the alleviation of time wasting antics and other bollocks. Also, referees should have to do an interview with the media after the game similar to players and managers, in order to explain his decisions and justify his rulings.
Var ruining football? Didn’t Danny Simpson recently say on the under the coshh podcast that Clattenburg admitted he should’ve sent someone off but he said he wanted them to win the league.. not surprised they put VAR in place 😂
Even with VAR in place refs are still "accidentally" missing things and using it to blatantly push their bias. I'd love to see more transparency where we can hear/see everything like rugby and also see refs held accountable for their performances.
@@AFC1886_ 100%! I don’t understand why it isn’t in place, I don’t know how long exactly they’ve had it but I’m 25 now and I feel like even when I watched rugby as like a 7 year old they had refs miced up, no idea how it’s still not here. I feel like a lot of their poor decisions wouldn’t happen if they were heard. Same with after game interviews, why is the ref never accountable and have to do an interview to explain their decisions it’s baffling
Everyone says re VAR "the technology is great, it's the people using it". I'd argue the technology is not that great. They can't tell if a ball has gone out on the side of the pitch, do something about it, add cameras where the blind spots are. I don't think the cameras or the images the refs look at are good enough to give a clear view from all angles and speeds. The offsides are an absolute mess, there should be sensors in the pitches at Prem level, those lines you see don't look definitive to me at all.
If VAR can not be used right the way through the football pyramid then it should not be used full stop. Football and the rules are for everyone not just the elite.
Problem with VAR is you need to have a very specific definition of what every offence is to mitigate any subjectivity in the decission making when reviewing otherwise it becomes a subjective inconsistent assessment rather than a factual video based assement.
How’s anyone in their right mind saying that Anthony Taylor is one of the top 2 referees in the league? The guy’s at best incompetent and at worst down right biased.
Don’t think any professional player from the premier league or championship will ever be a referee due to them being millionaires and they don’t need the hassle.

Not suprising from Rory tbh he is a snake

I may have drempt it but I'm sure it's being trialed next season where fans inside the stadium hear the ref saying why it's being checked etc.

I think VAR has taken away the ability of referees to make the big decisions and instead leaving it to VAR

How didn't you ask about his time at Egypt, he was forced to fled the country.
Why. Tell us more
That would have required research and effort, rather than riffing off the guest
A masterclass from the ref.
Craig Bellamy was an amazing player. When he was at West Ham I always thought we were a chance when he was on. But he was always injured
Facts …. Measuring millimetres and finger nails offside is a joke

Clattenburg on masked singer 🙏
Only because it stops referees like him giving every single decision to Liverpool and Manchester United
Probably the main reason we needed var😂
