@@dioncousins every person has his flaws, i agree with you that is something he should not have agreed to from the time he inherited his slaves from his late father. However, during his presidency, he realized the precedent he set if he publicly supported slavery. In his last years of life, he promised to free the slaves he owned in his will, and he did. There were still some slaves on mount Vernon, due to the fact his wife’s family owned slaves as well, however that is besides the point.
