Thanks for joining me!
That limb cast is awesome!! Thank you for the description and explanation of how they get formed. Just can't believe that someone would discard that split, partially banded, gorgeous rock!! Thanks for the trip!!
Thanks, BSR. :)
Beautiful finds as always! Love the limb cast and the colors/banding of the split agate. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing! It's always a good day when you can get out in nature. Love the finds!
You got that right!
Love those wild daisies. Nature is super...awesome!
It really is!
The world is better off having people like you. Willing to go out of your way to find these lost rocks and take them home to adopt and care for them. You adopted enough good ones to make me jealous. Guess I need to put Montana on the bucket list.
Thank you, Jeff! Montana is a bucket list place, for sure.
That limb cast is KEWL! ROCK ON!! 😃👍🏻🪨⛏️
Thank you!
i have a friend that digs up anthills and finds old native American beads in them if it was close to an old campsite they would use yearly.
That’s cool! I bet the ants don’t approve, though. 😂
I would LOVE to find a limb cast one day. Thanks for the fun adventure, Kate!
It was so cool!
I pulled a limb cast off a dirt road in lower Michigan. Spotted the shape and grabbed it with a quickness, lol!
Def wasn't expecting a perfect limb cast where I was, much less on a dirt road.
Wow, that’s awesome!
Thanks for the video KatyDid! I needed some time away from life 🙂, what nice finds that red banded one looks like the Agate that I collect in Michigan upper Peninsula.
Thanks for coming along!
All are of course the best love your finds hope that you have a great day.
I did - thank you, April!
I subscribed today. I had stumbled on your channel some years back due to my interest in rocks minerals and geology in general. Your latest collabs with Rob from Michigan Rocks brought you back to my attention. And since you also show nice plants lke the Sumac and the daisies, i thought, why not subscribe. So hi!
Thank you / and welcome! 😊
Oh my favorite I love limb cast !!! One I bought form you is probably the favorite one I got !!! W2G !!! You rock as always !!!
Thank you! 😊
Limb cast are cool I learned something new today. Thank you for that. Weird that agate out there gets a white sunburn. Very interesting 😊
I have heard it called opalization - something to do with chemistry, I imagine. 😊
@@KatyDidRocks Thank you Katy😊
Very nice finding ❤❤!!
Thank you! 🤗
The pink agate was my favorite!
Wasn’t it pretty?!
Hello Katydid and friends. I just learned of a train derailment and bridge collapse into the Yellowstone River near Billings. I hope you and the Montana Rockhounds are not adversely affected. Please keep your RUclips followers updated. I hope you are all safe.
Hello! The derailment was about an hour west of Billings, and it looks like the cars were full of slow-moving material (no oil). It should be fine. Thanks for your concern!
That limb cast is interesting. The limb casts that we have found in Oregon are not tumbled at all so you can see the impression of the wood on the outside still but how do you determine if something is a limb cast without that feature and not just a rounded agate?
Many Montana agates are limbcasts. The shape and the structure are the key - they are formed as a tube, and then the silica inside is also tubular, formed from the outside in. I suppose it’s possible that there might be a tubular bubble in the lava - but Occam’s razor suggests a branch or tree. 😊
You have best rocks videos with for sure very special rocks. And you crazy about rocks same like me 🙂 love your videos
Glad you like them! :)
I loved everything you found, but my favorite was the one that looked like it had been cut open. Pretty whites, pinks, grays. So beautiful ❤️
Wasn’t that crazy?!
Mine too!!! Is incredible beautiful!!!!
Wow Kate! You actually found some awesome stuff out there! And that agate with the quartz pocket and the botryoidals was so cool! What a neat find! And that jasper/agate with the banding is so pretty! And it was just split in half perfectly! Now tou have to dind the other half! Lol! Those were certainly not your biggest finds, but every bit as special and gorgeous as the ones you find on the river! Maybe less ticks on the river, but the finds are as plentiful! And these ones dont break your back carrying them! Lol! And i would live ro see you do a video on the hag stones! I think that would be awesome! That was a great hunt! And you had the whole place to yourself! Thanks Kate!
Thanks, Lisa - the little ones are every bit as pretty. I’ll put hag stones on my To Do list.
Loys of fin walking the hills. All the finds were great but that one that was split and was multicolored i liked the best
Be careful on those steep loose hills and woof to the pup.
😊 Woof to you too! I try to be sensible on the steep hills - my knees are bad enough already!
First timer here

Tha rock w/the hole through it was very interesting. Did you call it a hag rock? Would be nice to see a vid on it. That split agate, at the end, had some gorgeous banding! Btw, so glad you combined hunting skills w/Rob from Michigan Rocks. You 2 are my favs! Hello to Jim; pet Kava for me. Looking forward to next vid. God bless.
Thank you! I was happy Rob made it out here - we had a great time. Kava sends her love.
Ooooh I love the hagstone! Please let me know if you are going to put it in the etsy!? You found some really cool stuff today , daisy's n all !!!!
Thanks, Heather. Message me at KatyDidrocks@gmail.com with an offer on the hagstone - I’d love for you to have it, but have no idea what to list it for.
@KatyDidRocks I will email you , you are always so wonderful!
Have you ever found a meteorite?
I never have!
How are the river levels as of 6/19?
Still pretty high, but dropping fast. I can’t wait.
I’m driving through Montana this weekend. Crossing my fingers there will be an exposed gravel bar or two to search.
KATY...IF I SEND U A COUPLE PICTURES OF ROCKS COULD YOU PLEASE IDENTIFY THEM FOR ME😊
Hi! Maybe - it depends where you found the rocks! :D You can send photos to my gmail address, katydidrocks@gmail.com.
