I've had one of these Dimes for years now & it's saved my butt SO MANY TIMES! The needle nose pliers have pulled broken keys out of locks a few times for me (& finished unlocking too). I LOVE mine! Couldn't live without it. Very easy to carry & def worth keeping on the key ring!

I've carried a Dime every day for about 4 years now. I'm on my 3rd after destroying the first one and losing the 2nd one. I do low-voltage electrical work and use it all the time. I've walked into service calls with nothing but the Dime and a little Craftsman pocket multi-meter and accomplished everything I needed to. I would still choose it over all the other mini-multi tools if it didn't have the tweezers...but the tweezers are what sell it for me.

  • @hellsbellspreparedness2722

I have been using the leatherman squirt for the last four years now and it’s been one of the best small tasks multitools hands down. I have been looking at the dime for awhile now but wasn’t sure about switching over. After watching this review I’m sold on switching. One of the reasons is the tool to open packages was great and really got the job done without using your knife. The squirt does have the longer file but the file is one of the tools I don’t use that much. The tweezers are a huge plus and could come in handy in the woods or on the back porch relaxing. The bottle opener is way better than the squirt and the solid black look is nice. The blade is better and I like how the tip comes down so u don’t puncture items. The other reason for switching is I just purchased the gerber centerdrive not to long ago. Which in my opinion is one of the best multitools on the market. I have two edc’s. One before shtf and one after. There is no other multitool I rather have than the centerdrive for big tasks and I use my multitool everyday at work/home. Now leatherman did come out with the mule which is great for your rifle but for everyday tasks and more the centerdrive is almost perfect. 👌👍👏🍻

Used mine for 3 years. All the paint came off it till it was mostly silver. The scissors broke, & the package opener broke too. BUT, it was very useful-I was using the box opener every day. The tweezers are about useless. The pliers & bottle opener are great! The knife needs a locking mechanism but isn’t bad. The package opener works very well but eventually it bent well behind where it was supposed to stop-making it unusable. But credit to Gerber they stood behind their product and sent me a brand new one!

When an individual steps on a fallen branch with thorns and has a Huge thorn go through their boot and into their foot , they won't mess around with small tweezers .
Imagine having to cut away a leather boot so you can get at a huge thorn imbedded in your foot during freezing rain and 25 miles from your vehicle . Been there and done that .
I now carry a serious tweezer and small hemostat + tourniquet + SAK + suture kit in a pouch in a jacket .
Cut out a huge thorn or other foreign object from your body without anesthesia and you will definitely come up with a plan .
Thanks for your video SensiblePrepper .

I have this tool 2 years now. It is not "hard anodised" it chips off easily. The package opener is very useful, and it is nice to cut zipties. Sizers are useless crap. you can cut paper with it but nothing else. Compare it to a leatherman micra or PS4 sizer...File is also useless. The philips head is nice but the bottle opener sticks out so much you can only be used with compromises. Flathed is made from a thin weak material. The pliers are small but precise. I use it for detailed work.

  • @Coonhound92372
    @Coonhound92372 5 лет назад

I have 2 of these actually. One of them is exactly like the one you demonstrated. The other is black with silver blades and tools. This one has a hook on one side and a file and what looks like a flathead screwdriver blade. These are in place of the package cutter and the long knife blade. The one with the silver tools is actually called the DIME TRAVEL. Keep up the good videos.

I own one of these, I'm really happy with the US$15 AUD$25 special price.
BUT, it has no ergonomics at all. You can only hold the pliers with the can opener into your palm and even then you can't squeeze hard because it's all sharp edges.
That said, it's the best little keyring tool for half the price of a Leatherman. The knife is really robust for the size too.
The screwdriver tools are difficult because of the sharp edges and design.
That package opener is REALLY handy. The tweezers are good too.

I had one of these in green when they first came out. What I didn't like with mine was the knife was really dull oob and I never got it very sharp and the scissors would not cut paper or trim my 'stach. For me, the bottle opener is useless, so I used it for a better lanyard holder. Mine did not have a tweezers, but I got it on ebay, so it may have been lost. I may try one again.Nice video.

I have a Centerdrive multitool also and as much as I love it, it doesn't get nearly as much use because it's large and I leave it in the truck. It's my favorite of the micro line of multitools.

Fits perfectly in the small pocket aka watch pocket of any pair of pants. Add a short 3-3.5” length of cord with small knot at the end. It will just barely stick out of the pocket and allow easy deployment of the tool without fishing for it.

I found a similar Leatherman tool (Style?), someone lost! It is pretty similar. No bottle opener, but has a carabiner type end clip. It makes a great fishing tool, in my tackle box. The scissors are sharp enough to barely cut braided fishing line (which is tough stuff!) I have always preferred Gerber knives, as they hold a sharper blade, than most knives. So this looks like a good option too! & those tweezers come in real handy for pulling splinters out from under your finger nails! Ouch 😢.
Now we recently got a customized, Leatherman Surge, for our Son's graduation gift from Marine Boot Camp (Parris Island) 🇺🇸. It is full sized, but full featured & Heavy! But was very nice!

I got a Ganzo G101-S for about $5 it's ok but no scissors
Sadly the Squirt is nearly $100 here in NZ so I bought the Ganzo to see if I would carry it or use it
I don't carry it & I only really use the pliers. I live dangerously & edc a SAK Classic but it is illegal to carry a knife in NZ

I have had one for a few years now. You have to baby the tools due to the size which is understandable. I broke the flathead screwdriver but otherwise it has held up well.

I keep the dime in my bag. The Leatherman skeletool is awesome though. I carry it from a belt loop and use it for something everyday.

That bottle opener looks like a good thing to jab you in the nuts when it's in your pocket.

You mustn't use it very much, I find the Dimes very east to dull, even with light applications.

I admit the pliers would win on these models but the The Victorinox SwissChamp should be in this mix. Carry one on my belt and a Micra in my EDC pack.

Victorinox makes great tools. I'll have to add the SwissChamp to the list. Thanks Ed

I've still got my SwissChamp I bought in the mid-late nineties. I have carried it virtually every day, through the army and now as a civvie. It's never the best tool for the job, but it's usually got **a** tool for the job. And nine times out of ten, I can fix a little problem quickly before it becomes a big problem, and without having to go get my tool kit.

I bought one if this years ago, it fell apart in about 3 weeks, so i stripped the tools and saved the package opener for my keychain

I find the Gerber Dime tools, especially the dull knife & scissors, to be far poorer quality than the same tools on the Leatherman Squirt which in my opinion seem a good deal shaper and keep their edges longer. I always have a small multitool with me unfortunately the Gerber Dimes have always left me disappointed. The best I've used is the Leatherman Squirt

It looks like every tool on it is sub-par, but you get what you pay for. $15 is a good price for that much tool.
