Hard to describe how much I loved this interview. I’m on my second annual subscription for Big Picture Skiing and it’s been much more helpful than any on piste ski instruction, especially for mogul skiing.
Tom’s questions really let Stephen explain how one should position their body and what one should expect to feel if they’re skiing bumps correctly.
Watch any instructional bump video and the shape of the bumps are camouflaged by the snow. Then legs are obscured or disappear from view by the actual bumps making it difficult to see what the instructor is teaching.
This was really top notch. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Excellent interview. For mogul enthusiasts who lie awake thinking of how they could get better at bumps, this podcast goes to a level of detail I have not seen before.

Always thought the extension felt like pushing my feet into a trampoline and then pulling up the legs to keep your feet in contact with the trampoline surface.

Watching this led me onto the ID One website and as I looked at the dimensions of the skis and their construction I see my early 20's Atomics sitting in the corner and got curious. They are very close to the FRX in dimensions and its a capped style construction. Has anyone gotten their older ski's out and tried them in moguls? I'm for sure going to get them tuned and work on the bindings.

Tom, do you or Stephen pull your feet back under you as you crest the mogul? (Chuck Martin is a big advocate of the reverse bicycle but I think that technique is old school now). Your comments would be appreciated, thanks!

Wow my head is spinning. Complicate it. Enstien said if you can't explain it simply you don't know it enough.

I remember back in the 70’s a young girl came up to our college ski team practice. She said Hi, I’m 13 yrs old and I’m a bump skier. She proceeded to shred the bumps on 203cm skis. That young girl was Donna Wienbrecht!

#TomGeile - great video but do you realise how many times you say the word "like" when you speak! 😁

Yes I do! I’m working on it! I’ve found I do it even more when I’m speaking with someone that I really respect and I’m so engaged with what they say. I get distracted and lose control of this bad habit

@@BigpictureskiingGreat honest answer Tom. I probably do it myself more than I would wish. Unfortunately I have tuned in to other people doing it and it drives me crazy - I wish I hadn't noticed it in the first place.
