Finally!! Couldn’t agree more with the points here about a daily driver ski. I don’t need a 90+ waist ski for Aussie conditions. Been looking for a wider “narrow ski” that leans more towards narrow carver, shorter radius and with lots of pop/rebound. Seems like most “advanced” marketed skis are 90+ with bigger turn radius. Fine for overseas off piste days but not the variable crud we get here.
Awesome advice!
great episode. one of the ski content creator.
Interesting across different markets too.
Europe trip from NZ recently to France and Switzerland. The rentals and even locals looked to be so channeled into short, sub 170cm, narrow waisted SL carvers.
The irony is skiied properly, you do twice as many turns on their huge wide open long runs with the associated extra effort required. The reality looked like most can't ski them properly anyway, weren't fit enough to ski a run without stopping, and spent all day skidding around being dominated by the sidecut and wider tails.
An 80ish narrow wide all mountain would suit the majority except nobody was.....which just seemed crazy to me.
We took 174cm 82ti's with a 16m radius and they were amazing everywhere at all turn shapes and speeds.
I never knew there was so much to learn about bindings! I love the new mantra 102s as an every day ski. Is there a +112 you'd recommend that skis like it? I tried the Revolt 114, and felt the ski skied me than I skied it.
Any ski that has the attributes and DNA of a Mantra 102 that is in the 112+ range will ski you even more than the Revolt 114.
Great collab! Epic Ski/Pugski/Ski Talk has been instrumental in my gear purchases, learning how to tune skis, finding bootfitters, etc. Thanks Phil!
Thank you
As a technical/performance frontside ski my Fischer RC4 CT's are a solid 10/10.
Excellent. Really enjoyed this episode. It would be great to hear your feedback one time swapping between a few skis and hearing what you have to say about them and how they differ at your ridiculously high level. Preferably between manufacturers also.
Id like to do that too. If I get a chance to attend a demo day this Aussie winter I’ll do that.
Thank you but I am hardly a rediculously high level skier but I can discern the attributes of a ski. It is getting tougher and tougher choosing a ski because they are really all damn good.
Narrow/wide and wide/narrow - gem! Thanks
I liked this concept to explain those similar waisted skis too 👍
Mountain of fantastic info today. Thanks, guys!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great episode! I love the bindings resources. Thanks Tom! ⛷️🔥🤙
Glad you enjoyed!
