Truthfully you are living the way couples are supposed to live. You aren’t missing anything by not doing things that unhappy people do to look happy or successful. You have everything they don’t because of their narcissistic tendencies. 💖⚔️🧿

I am a social worker. They are on point. They are trauma informed and do it for the right reasons. Beautiful heart. We need more foster parents like them. ...fostering is NOT a business, so don't become one if you don't have a heart and will not dedicate/commit to care for a child. Fostering someone's child is a privilege. In my years of working with foster youth, I have seen very successful stories and unfortunately not so good. I make myself available to my youth 24/7 for any concerns, visit them weekly then bi weekly after 90 days with a family. Bless this family.
I used to be a home health aid for many families I worked with liked to foster and then adopt special needs kids. That way they got money for them and had nurses and aids taking care of them most of the time. Some ppl have lots of kids cuz they want but you can definitely tell the ppl who do it for the wrong reasons
@@snuff2023 .... our agency assess every child needs in the home before another child joins the family, to ensure foster parents are able to care for another child.. but yes I agree with you. All Social workers need to carefully assess the homes/foster parents to ensure they can provide the best quality of care... and Shame on those who don't!

Told the kids it was for Xmas but then they bragged about how they would supposedly get thousands of dollars for adopting and wanted to b able to get it that year rather than having to wait until the next

It seems there was some bias on Mark's part going into this due to his dealings with the former foster kids who were failed. We are foster parents for our county, and there are so many GOOD foster families out there! So many people going into it with love and not just self-interest.

We can so relate to Dan and Heidi. We fostered for almost 21 yrs. We adopted 14 children and have 7 others that we have custody of along with our 2 biological boys. We have 23 children and wouldn’t want it any other way. We no longer foster and still have 7 children at home. When they said they have gone broke doing foster care, we have as well. We wouldn’t trade our lives though, because seeing the children grow and go on to become great humans that have broken a cycle is worth it.

I love how people think it's a money making scheme, you barely get anything and it's meant to be a reimbursement not a profit. In my state you get 29 dollars a day for up to 4 years old.
@@sj9410 So in a month that would equal nearly $800.00. What are you complaining about ? Foster children get full medical & dental coverage paid for by the government. A 4 yr old doesn't eat $800.00 worth of food a month and they're not getting a new outfit everyday..So how is $800.00 not enough? 🙄

I'm so happy that you represented a great foster home on your channel, Mark. I'm also a foster parent and there is such a bad rap for us when there are actually so many wonderful foster parents who have opened their hearts and their homes to children in need. We usually only hear about the bad homes and maybe that is because it's more interesting and salacious for people to hear the horror stories? Regardless, many, many blessings and love to Heidi and Dan and your beautiful family! Thank you for this Mark!
We usually hear from adults who were mistreated in foster care system. Sometimes it is not even the foster families but the rules and agencies policies which hurt children in care.
Their stories are important to hear in order to improve the system of care for children entering foster care.
You can tell these parents absolutely adore their children and surround them with the love and stability they deserve. All the best to this lovely family 💗
I was physically and sexually abused by my foster dad and they wanted to adopt me. Thankfully the police rescued us before that happened.
I am sorry that happened to you @jenn451 it happens frequently I am all too aware. The Trauma of an adoption is also something that needs to be addressed. Even in "great" adoptions, I have yet to meet a grown adult that isn't trauma filled. I pray this will end well for this family. Tee

These two wonderful souls will be good at teaching a course on what should be expected of foster parents. The system is incredibly broken 💔
You take courses before fostering. Well, at least in Canada you do.
Yes we take courses and we have so many training hours each year. Honestly trainings are ok but it’s the experience that helps you. I wish I could help more.
If more people were like these people, the world would be a better place. I took 3 kids that got taken away from some of my family members, and they are doing amazing . It is not the kids' fault that they are in some horrible situations.
I have always thought of becoming a foster parent because I know I can provide a safe loving home for a child. I am still doing my research, but this inspires me to continue my path.
No amount of research will prepare you for the roller coaster ride of fostering. I took in a family member from foster care and really thought I was ready after all the research, preparation, and thought it would be easy-ish. Boy was I COMPLETELY WRONG. Taking in a foster child that’s been mentally, emotionally, physically neglected and abused has been beyond hard, difficult and stressful.

I wish my foster parents had been as supportive and loving. I spent 7 years in one foster home. I aged out at 19 without knowing any life skills. I didn't even know how to boil an egg or do laundry. I was just a paycheck for them. Their adult daughter stole hundreds of dollars from me in that 7 years. This was back in the 90s. It's so refreshing to see a family like this.
I'm sorry you were exploited and didn't get what you needed. For those of us in this situation it's a struggle to learn how to adult properly. Good luck to you!
I'm sorry this happened. Not only did the foster parents fail you but your attorney and the social workers. Nobody should be in foster care 7+ years. There are legal mandates for permanency. There are supposed to be transitional housing and classes to help you budget and plan even if the foster parents aren't doing it. The statistics of how many children who were in foster care who wind up in prison or homeless is very scary. And, of course, for females- the number who have kids when they can't even support themselves, yet.
Just from what you wrote here, I get the sense you are a resourceful person who has managed well despite what you shared. A lot of intelligence in how you expressed yourself, which is often lacking in comment sections on RUclips and social media. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Mr. T!!!!! He's a good man who cares about his job on a level unknown to most. Patient. Dedicated. I can not believe I am seeing this! I'm so glad I know this about him! The foster parents in Fond du Lac are phenomenal, caring, thoughtful people, and they have my respect. I still see my children's previous foster parents occasionally and its always a positive interaction. Such a good human Mr. T is. I know this because my kids know this. My daughter sees him at least two times a week. His wife seems just as stellar. They have my respect. Mark, this is flipping amazing! Your work is evolving and I love it! Love it!!

I love this so much! I'm from WI and my ex was in 10 foster homes before getting adopted. At 32, he still struggles greatly with mental health and his childhood trauma from his bio mom. When i met him, i asked him what his favorite childhood memory was and he said, "Getting adopted." That and my work with children who've experienced trauma makes me moved to adopt.
That’s wonderful that your ex made it out! Mine on the other hand was in those homes and living on the street….bio mom strung out and he’s now in prison. It’s a cycle with him and his decision making. Not everybody makes it out!

i grew up in neglectful violent chaos. for some reason they just left us there.
i always wished to be whisked away to a foster home where i would be greeted by amazing folks like these.
bless their hearts. what they do for our society is sorely needed. the way they describe some of the behaviors is so on point. they really know their stuff!

I’d love to see more interviews related to the foster care system. We adopted our son from foster care and it was quite an experience. I think it has an overall negative reputation but there are a lot of parts people aren’t as aware of. More understanding could lead to more of the right people getting involved.
As a foster parent I know these feelings. The “mansion” statement gets me every single time when a new kiddo comes into my 3bd town home.

I have read that 80% of the people who sign up to be foster parents, and take in a child, never do it a second time. I can understand why. Kudos to these people who can do it.
We need more parents like this. Typically rude/disrespectful kids are reflections of their parents behavior/parenting. Thankfully Heidi and Dan provide the loving example that all kids deserve. ❤

I was in foster care for two weeks with two separate families.. both abused my brother and I. The father in the 2nd family beat the complete hell out of us. He would lift us by the hair and throw us against walls among other things… My cousins were in long term foster care and they were SA for years by the dad.. nobody believed any of us as kids.
Currently working with the State to find out exactly who they were to hopefully get some sort of justice 30 years later.
Foster care is the reason I trust nobody that I meet and the reason I’ve struggled with drugs and low self esteem. . I know they’re not all bad but in my experience, not one was good.

Foster care was the seed that grew into your trauma. I have long fought for people to understand that most of the drug addicts they judge so harshly are sufferers of trauma. It's true of sex workers as well.
I am thankful that you are pursuing legal action. Unfortunately, what happened to you and your family seems to be what really happens in far too many cases. I'm sure you have also considered the foster care placement folks in your legal action. I know that the states always say they are overwhelmed with too many children and not enough workers. To that I say, there has to be parts of that program that can be downsized without taking away from the ability to check on the families to whom you have put your trust. Abuse like that can be seen with trained eyes but if these monsters know when the caseworker us coming, they have time to clean up. And yes, I am very aware that they don't have to open the door unless an officer is present...and to that I say, if you don't allow a caseworker in your house to check on the kids, then the kids are removed. Sadly, caseworkers who do not have time to follow up on the placements are, in my mind , equally guilty of abuse. Most people have no real clue how horrible it can be or even that child trafficking is also associated with these agencies. I encourage every person who faced this hell through the foster care system, find legal means to hold them accountable. Will they win? I don't know. But at least these victims can put a face on the monsters. I want you to know that many of us have trust issues and not all from foster care. I also beg you, to understand you have this giant rock on your back called trauma. Please, find a place where you can get help for specifically for trauma. You are not the reason this happened. You can turn this around and help others. You can take that rock and break it down into something others can see as beautiful. Like coal into diamonds. That is how you win, not just survive. I hope people see your words now and understand what you say is true. Also, we all know that some people will lie and pretend they were mistreated. This happens all the time. I'm sure you can spot these liars. Speak up. Those folks will derail the entire mission. Never forget , like these people here, not everyone is horrible. There are still people who really can love, care and protect children. Let us all raise them up high for the world to see. Someday, someone will really love you , too. Just keep moving in the right direction. ❤
So very sorry that happened to you. Here in SC. the system is so broken. Don’t screen enough, check in on families and you here many abuse of all kinds. I think what you are doing should be done more. Maybe then the government would fix a system that should love, nurture and help children not add to Trama. I am sorry you went through this. I don't trust easily either, and to be honest, I've seen people who appear to be lovely to the outside world but are monsters at home.
There was a child raped and murdered by a foster family they reported the child missing. Eventually, her body was found in the Logan River. The biological mother was trying to get her daughter back. She voiced her concerns to everyone along the chain, and nobody listened to her.
During the weeks this girl went missing and the police were searching for her I didn't see one helicopter searching.
A few months later, a police dog went missing the sky was filled with helicopters day and night over a loud speaker a description of the dog was announced. That dog received more attention than the young girl. It wouldn't have helped anyway because her poor little pregnant body was deep in the Logan River.
That foster family went on the media, sounding as genuine as could be, but they had planned this girls murder. The father, the biological son, and the mother. When they were pleading for her return tears streaming, they had already killed her. This is the nature of some humans. That family didn't want to be caught for the sexual abuse. When the girl was pregnant, they knew the SA would come to light, so they murdered the girl. They thought they would get away with it, and they very nearly did.
I really admire people like you! It takes a lot of effort, time, patience, love to click with these traumatized kids, but you seem to do that instantly and naturally. That's because you have a big heart and you really are special. Thanks for bringing joy and safety to this broken children, you really make a difference.

Omg! I’m glad I watched this. My husband and I are foster parents. We love it. The one thing I only feel bad about until watching this is the eating home cooked meals. They refuse to eat my gourmet dinners. I’m big on nutrition and the food groups and very sensitive to every child’s likes and needs but for some reason all they really like to eat is ramen noodles, hot dogs or processed tv dinner like meals. So I’m glad to hear that it’s just a thing. Thank you for what you do😊

That was heartwarming. The kids look great- healthy and well taken care of. The sweet hearts of the Midwest. I can see Mom is the glue and Dad sometimes has to just adjust and go with it. Both amazing people.
I've wanted to be a foster parent since I was 16. I've not been in a position to be able to do so yet but it's so deeply on my heart. It breaks me to think of children in hurting circumstances and one day I hope to have a home to provide a soft place to land.

awwww, I love this story. Thank you for being content in being givers and loving those that have not previously been well-loved. And, thank you, Mark, for sharing.
This is such a wonderment. These parents are the best. These kids seem so well adjusted that it makes me wonder how kids from good families with a good start in life good awry. Although these parents say the kids will have monumental challenges ahead, just think about the good you are doing for them, then try to imagine where these kids would be if it weren’t for you two to open your hearts to these foster children. Your influence will go on forever, not matter what they face ahead.
These foster parents seem like such down to earth and realistic people ever. Obvs I don’t know them but they seem very honest and genuinely care about the kids but will admit that they have moments where they want to focus on each other because parenting is hard. I appreciate what they had to say

There are plenty of wonderful foster parents. Unfortunately, we only hear about the bad ones.
Many policies governing the way Foster Parents are allowed to parent, run counter to what this couple describe doing.
The last few minutes brought me to tears. The unconditional love Heidi spoke could be felt and seen on the kids faces. What a beautiful family. Great interview.

I don’t think they love the drama and chaos, but it’s what they’re used to. They are comfortable with it. Change is hard, even if it’s a good change. Kids will always try to stay in their comfort zone, no matter how bad. Adults do it as well.
You are correct, I agree. I do have to say my 19yr old daughter loves drama and creates it. She knows it to. But you are right about most of them. They know nothing different.

I'm loving the more positive videos lately! I think all the interviews on this channel are super important at shining a light on the issues in society and what not to do as a parent, but I love hearing the stories about people who have defied the odds and are doing really well or people like this who are doing such great things.
My youngest 2 are adopted, and I can vouch that she only wanted chips, and soda pop. If she ate something cooked, it was still kinda junk food, or comfort food. But even then she wanted to pour tons of salt on it. Getting her to eat cooked meals, and drink anything besides soda pop was a feat for sure! She was 3 when we brought her home. She's now almost 16. She's amazing, and eats a better variety of food than I do! They completed our family. We had 3 biological children. 2 were grown, and one was almost 16. They all instantly accepted them as family. It just felt like it was always meant for them to be there. Our son was 2 days old when we brought him home. He was born addicted to several drugs. But he's about to turn 13, and he's great! He does have ADHD. But with medication he's having a great life! They brought fun, and excitement into our lives! 💜
I always say they were the missing puzzle piece to our family. We weren’t whole until they came into our lives. God does great things.
