@@DoingItOurselvesOfficial She and YOU have done so much more than that. Folks come here to watch fantasy castles being rebuilt, and walk away with an entirely new perspective on history, art, architecture, and culture that they would otherwise have little opportunity to appreciate. While the chateau is grand and quite beautiful, The cottage suits you much better. The smaller space upstairs in front of the bedroom could make a nice art studio. I enjoy watching your progress but the videos are too short. If they were over an hour long, I'd probably feel the same. Nice work.

I see that window behind you! I think a sink and toilet upstairs would never be regretted. Wish I could show you incredible tiny toilet/sink combos, really great designers make under stairs, in my neighborhood.
I go solo to dinner every night, since divorced and kids left. I'm totally happy on my own, with six grandchildren, two married children, and a sister and her spouse. My problem is all my friends are thirty to forty years younger, and I have no desire to rob the cradle. I have many people I know from walking my dog.
You are a delightful person, very cherished. I take care of family, and house sit for neighbors. Five friends to ten friends, alone, is enough. Seeing you happy, gives me acceptance of who I am alone. I raised the kids with a single Uncle's never ending help. I worked 18 hours per week overtime for ten years, when my kids left. It was fun. I taught gardening to kids after school. I taught ancient history and 4th grade history through play with props. They gave me all non speakers who learned lines and vocabulary to perform in front of younger kids fearlessly talking after practicing dialogue. They chose the topic. Queen Elizabeth and King Phillip battle in channel with 8 ships of tar and pitch, snuck into Armada and set ablaze 8/8/1588, conquest of Mexico, tour of Africa, the sinking of the Titanic.
My grandfather recited Mark Anthony's lines while racing his cars in the 1910s to 1960s commuting 3 hours, in maybe two between towns. Love is fun, and funny. Kids who laugh a lot, lose their fears. Creativity best way to develop self awareness. My sisters and I put on neighborhood plays for entertainment. One sister read the complete works of Shakespeare in 4th grade. Creating fun, very rewarding.
You make work fun! Thanks for sharing!

Encouraging by the progress. Ha, ha, ha, although the saw worked, you should have gone down and got the knife; at least when you went for the coffee. I've been tinkering with music and everything that surrounds it for most of my life, such as setting up my own studios, rehearsal rooms, recording rooms... so I have some (often fatal) experience with rockwool. I would only change one thing you said: "In winter it keeps the heat inside, and in summer TOO,". It has been one of my big mistakes, rock wool retains heat in a bestial way. My inexperience with this material has led me to build authentic ovens. Take special care that the room has very good ventilation.

Actually that is "une scie" a saw. 'Scier' is the verb - sawing. Also, Florian stated a French phrase: 'à coups de scie" which means cutting/sawing something with a sharp object in small spurts. The literal translation is what Florian said: "shot of saw". But in reality it is called "hacking through with a saw".

The sound absorbing quality of insulation isn't really applicable in this case as you already have heavy stone walls. If you wanted to control sound transmission with stick/timber frames walls (both interior and exterior), the effect would be much more noticeable. It can also be used to control reverb within a room if you cover the walls with something acoustically transparent like fabric.

I have had a Sunbeam Mix Master like the one you have! It used to belong to my grandmother who passed away at 96 in 2000. Those things last forever, they are so well made. The only thing I've had to replace are the beaters about 15 years ago. It still works better than some new ones now. Unfortunately the attachment for the juicer (made of porcelain glass) shattered from a stray bouncing ball one of my cousins was playing with in the house when he wasn't supposed to. But I love to watch the spinning gear every time I use it. It's more than just nostalgia using it now. It still has the power to do the job.

Michael, you are a joy to watch as you renovate, I always learn something new. You put yourself out there when you started this vlog, just like your trip to Rennes and now you have ‘friends’ not just followers all over the world. I wish you the best in everything. Looking forward to seeing the upcoming videos. Much ❤️

1950s Sunbeam Food Mixer? I learned to cook with one of those! Good tool, and unlike my Kitchen Aid, it had two sizes of bowls! I enjoy videos of watching you work, time lapse, from tripod mounted camera--and voice over to tell what is going on.

Love the time lapse. I enjoy watching you work on the Cottage. I cannot wait to see the stair well get made (maybe you can go to the site where they make them and show us the process - the history of the wood you have selected & the exact design build you have selected to be made for the cottage steps inside to the upstairs.) Question where is your Loo located in the cottage. Are you building in the closets or using armoire instead? Enjoying this so much.

The Phillip-esque editing and beautiful gold logo at the start are brilliant! You've come so far!
