He doesn’t get enough credit for his Die Hard role. It was groundbreaking. He was the first to portray a charismatic villain that has been copied ad nauseam since. Before that role, every villain in feature films was just a one dimensional moustache twirler. He brought wit and style and delivered perfect one liners that made you want to root for him.

That being said hes literally the coolest villain to date non has topped his ice cold arrogant yet charming demeanor in die hard this movie will always be one of my faves not only for the obvious reasons but me and my dad use to watch it least a couple times a year.......

something about this man, I’ll never be to get him off my mind. it hurts and kills so painful to think he’s not here living with us anymore. i can’t explain how much Alan means to me and how much I need him back. I hope whatever he’s doing in the afterlife, that he is happy and not ill.
He was such perfection in everything he did. I don’t think I’ve ever been as instantly captivated by another human being as I was with Alan. I was fortunate to meet him twice- it was like the world stopped spinning for a few moments and he was the only person who existed. What a gorgeous human being.
I vividly remember early Alan Rickman movies as well as his final movies. No matter how few scenes he was in, no matter how few lines he had, the man had this uncanny ability to steal a movie. I remember reading about Kevin Costner's "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves" where the films editors, including Costner of course, cut several of Rickman's scenes & dialog out of the finished movie for fear of him overshadowing the star. Anyone who's seen the movie agrees he stole the movie anyway. Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman {February 21, 1946 - January 14, 2016}, came to us from down Acton way, West London. Known for his languid tone and delivery, his signature sound was the result of a speech impediment when he could not move his lower jaw properly as a child. Rickman studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. He never shirked his duty, and never failed to steal a play or movie. We shall never see his likes again.......and now his play has ended. RIP Mr.Rickman, thank you.
Guys, I did fall in love with him... not working with him , not ever seeing him in person, ( i would've been thrilled to see him on stage) , me not being a native english speaker...and even after he's not ( sadly!)in this world anymore Im a woman still admiring his talent, voice, gestures and manly personality...Always!
@Dwayne Dibley Karl understood fine, but he was perplexed as to why Hans was giving him such a bizarre order. So Hans repeats it with conviction in English, and off they went. A rather clever plot device to translate the order for those that aren't German 😂
Him falling to his death in Diehard, he knew he was going to fall but they wanted genuine shock, so they dropped him before he expected it to happen, and thats how they got that shot
He was great in everything I ever saw him in… especially liked his role in Sense and Sensibility, very different from Hans Gruber… Also the January Man… Galaxy Quest… On and on…

He must’ve sounded like that as a six year old.
