I also can not think of hearing it any other way than this full complication. My hat off to your talent! Thank you for sharing this with everyone!!!
The problem, I think, with dividing it into tracks would be that the smooth as hell transitions would be lost and they are one one the best parts of this remix.
These days games were so "mystic", PStar2 have one of the absolute coolest and catchy soundtracks, upbeat but yet smooth, and whatever they used to make this on have a good "sound" and the producer great taste and skills. Even how "simple" it can sound, phenomenal phantasy for cocky, weird beats backbeats and melodies ♥ Nice upload.
That pause in the melody at 0:15 makes me laugh every time I hear it. Yes, that's how it sounds in the actual game. But it pauses there because the music playroutine slows down during the transition in on-screen visuals at that moment. If you listen to the track in, say, the music test mode, that pause is absent. Still, I love this cover compilation. My only minor gripe is that one or two of my favorite tracks had their keys changed so they'd fit better in a seamless mix.
I listen to this at work and home and have sat through the entire video at least a few dozen times, maybe more. I can't stop listening to this, you've done an absolutely amazing job. Thanks for doing this!
Man I have been listening to this like no other for a very long time now, and never am ceased to be amazed. Such a remix comp for PSIII would be heaven.

You made a wonderfull gift to people like me who have so much nostalgia in their chilhood gaming era so , THANK YOU it's really amazing!
Thanks for your story, I always like to hear what memories people have from the games they used to play and Im glad I still help bring some nostalgia to people. These were the soundtracks to our childhood and we still remember these over 20 years later. :D
I'm a long time Phantasy Star fan, and being around in '89 when this game originally shipped.. WOW, this remix is great; Wonderful even. Love the extra layer of percussion you added and love the synth. I know you didn't make this remix in the '80s but damn, it totally feels like it totally could be from the 80s. I love the the way you mixed the tracks together so seamlessly. I love how you stayed true to the originals as well and expanded upon the songs as they were in the 80s. You've successfully transported me back to 1989 for a good 33 minutes. Thank you!
@@lukejansen3540 I just checked your site and looks like you do a lot of SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive remixes. Have you ever considered doing one on Langrisser/Warsong?
Luke, your remixes are incredible, best in class IMO. The title song for Turrican II, "The Final Fight", is considered one of the most iconic pieces of video game music from the 16-bit era. It was composed by Chris Huelsbeck, who also composed the music for the original Turrican game. Have you considered recreating that one? It would get some serious attention.
thanks, funny you say that. I was watching a mike matei stream and he was playing it, i thought the music was good and started looking as some of the ost from the series. I may do it. its a time thing though these days, and i still have commissions i havent event started on yet lol
I always wondered what the original composer might have envisioned the tracks to sound like WITHOUT the limitations of the hardware. This does a good job answering that question.
This brings back so many memories. Absolutely love it! Have you made a remix of Phantasy Star 1? Rise or Fall is one of the best "Battle" tracks in a JRPG ever!!!

Thank you for your kind comment, and your welcome! Well i might possibly be doing a ps3 album, not sure if ill try the seamless approach again, reason i did that with the ps2 was i noticed alot of the songs had same basslines tempo etc which i thought would make it transition easily. I might do a fade in and out. But ill cross that bridge when i come to it. I hope you have a great day too and welcome aboard! 😁

This is incredible! Sounds exactly like an enhanced version of the soundtrack!
Thanks mate! Your welcome
Man I have been listening to this like no other for a very long time now, and never am ceased to be amazed. Such a remix comp for PSIII would be heaven.
素晴らしい!!
C'est du beau travail. Beaucoup d'émotions.
Absolutely wonderful, no words of how much joy listening to this has brought to me. Thank you so much!
What a wonderful execution of such an ambitious project! I love it!
Thanks man! it was really was ambitious but I think it was worth it in the end :)
Beautiful and magical! Thrilling and haunting! Thank you for this AMAZING soundtrack! It is PERFECT!!
your welcome!
Wow. Really nice work. I love the idea of a complete PSII medley. The game has such an underrated soundtrack.
Man, PHII was one of my first cartridge of MGD back in 92, I was verry youg and hadn't learned to understand (at least) english. I remind ask for my sister to traduce dialogs for me and it literally gave me the motivation to learn it. I remember also go in game in the house of the pianist where you can play songs from the rest of the game just because I like the ost so much (even with the poor MGD audio chip).
I listen to this on stream all the time. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Call me NEI FIVE!
Thank you!
Thanks man! welcome to the time machine haha. Glad you liked it. I'm also a fan of the 80s, born in 83. ;D
@@lukejansen3540 I just checked your site and looks like you do a lot of SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive remixes. Have you ever considered doing one on Langrisser/Warsong?
@@nostyx Well, I did do "Holywar" but for some rreason i put it in the snes area jansen7183.wixsite.com/retrogamemusic/nintendo-snes
@@lukejansen3540 At least you are keeping busy!
Well that was epic! What a perfectly nostalgic compilation.
Thanks!
Outstanding work!!!
Wow took me back to my childhood in 1989 ,And the dungeon theme at 12:26 rocks...
I always wondered what the original composer might have envisioned the tracks to sound like WITHOUT the limitations of the hardware. This does a good job answering that question.
Just discovered these song remixes, they sound good and keep the original spirit of the songs.
Heard your remixes in Gaijilionare's PS2 Retrospective video. Stunning music, very well done!
Thanks man! I just checked his video out too
Way better than Sega Ages version.
Great job!
This goes so hard. Great work man!
Thanks dude!
Luke Jansen Have you made a version with Bracky News included?? I’d pay real money for that!
@@trevor1550 no, bracky news never got a remix done
fantastic remix!
Thank you for your effort on this one. Going to take many listens to back-fill the last thirty years.
Great remixes. How they should sound if the games were released today. Bravo!
This brings back so many memories. Absolutely love it! Have you made a remix of Phantasy Star 1? Rise or Fall is one of the best "Battle" tracks in a JRPG ever!!!
Just so, so good. What a thing you did.
Hey! Long time Phantasy Star fan here! :D Great job! It is indeed super seamless and it is very exciting to listen to. It is a real gem of the PS music remakes. You have just earned a new subscriber. This is seriously amazing and I can't fully express how it makes me so happy that it exists!
A girl can dream, but I would have loved to hear other PS pieces here on your channel. Especially Phantasy Star 3 Dark Force, Lashute and Megido/Grantz, as well as Phantasy Star 4 music. By the way already checked Golden Axe and Streets of Rage... Wow. No other words but just this one - ecstatic! +__+
Keep doing what you're doing! And have a great day sir. :)
@@lukejansen3540 That is incredible that you're seriously considering PS3! :D I love that game, it was my first Phantasy Star. I know many people bash on it for different reasons, but mainly because it was not like Phantasy Star 2 graphics and world-wise. Because this game doesn't get enough love, I didn't even think someone is totally considering making a whole collection! Really, super excited! Weeee. :D And thanks!
@@silentiyume haha your welcome. Yea its like that with any game, even movie. Some will like one and some will like the other. Tbh i never really played them. But i had a listen to the ost of ps3 and i was pretty impressed.
@@lukejansen3540 Maybe that's even better - this way one can rate the music (which I think was awesome in PS3) without having to have second thoughts whether they like the game or not. :D Absolutely waiting! ^-^
amazing remix melody. Makes me wish I had the time, money and a team of game programmers and 2-d sprite artists/animators to create a proper "extended/enhanced edition" of Phantasy Star II....
Glad I found this. Excellent work.
And might I add, the work you put into those seamless transitions was well worth it. Thank you for this extremely pleasing listening experience.
Wish I could get this on vinyl
Same here! Gah the nostalgia
I discovered Phantasy Star II whilst confusing it for PS III which my neighbor had. The games were separate apps when I first downloaded it. I've only made it as far as the hardest dam before giving up. The first 3 games are bundled now, and cloud saves were taken down last year. And I blast this while cleaning on my assigned days. You did an awesome job on this. I'll give you a pass for leaving out Bracky News.
Cloud saves weren’t discontinued, there was something wrong with Game Center.
This is an excellent remix of the sound track. It gives a fresh take on the tunes but in a way that is legit to the game. I really find the transitions incredible.
Thanks mate!
