If you are looking for a Hungarian translated fiction still I HIGHLY recommend The Door by Magda Szabo, it follows two women in different points in their lives come together as maid and employer but its SO much more than that and very funny!
Your view of "Earthlings" is more enlightened than many. Personally I think it's meant to be literal and that Murata has left this interpretation as a definite possibility even while leaving people to interpret for themselves. And I think the end is meant to be positive! 😃😺
