What a great day-trip village. In the U.S. we have some small towns that host "family fun" activities, but nothing like this cool river attraction! So much cute stuff and businesses built around beautiful nature - I love it. We don't exactly have restaurants out of family homes like that, but on the east coast many Puerto Rican and Dominican families run neighborhood "bodegas" that might be out of their homes - stores where you can buy daily home essentials, basic groceries, and even get homemade empanadas or sandwiches. They're also famous for always having cats that hang out with customers and "run" the store!

I can't give first hand experience, but from all the travel vlogs i watched i would say that English wouldn't help in most situations in rural places, but a translator app should help to communicate with everyone. Recently there are also apps and devices that give real-time audio translation both ways, which should make communication relatively easy, i guess. I plan to get one of these when i go to CN next year. One thing important to remember with those tech solutions is that they most likely need a stable internet connection as the live translation comes from some server. But as emergency solution text based translators should help to get the most necessary translations and i think some of them also work without internet connection.
Actually should wear everything that was ever invented in China to cover every inch of the skin. We want Ms Day's whole body to remain beautiful when she is much older.
