My biggest accomplishments with this map: 1) Making Toby’s line and the small railway exist in the same canon 2) Keeping the Mid Sodor Railway in its original place while still connecting to the Skarloey 3) Making geographical sense of Misty Island 4) Figuring out the old line from Haunted Henry 5) Connecting Maithwaite to both Thomas and Toby’s branch lines
Some updates: I’ve now placed Bluff’s Cove on the headland track between Tidmouth Hault and Callan. According to the episodes, it’s somehow located on both Thomas’ branch and the Little Western. In CGI, all that matters is that it appears between Knapford and Arlesburgh. I’m also changing the name of the church/fishing village to Upper Tidmouth since it’s located near the harbour.
I do like Tug’s separate canons theory, but I made this map under the logic of the whole series being one timeline, as the production team most likely intended. For anyone wondering how S1 and The Adventure Begins can exist in the same timeline, my explanation is that it serves as a retcon to better suit the CGI era. (Awdry retconned his own books anyway) I consider Glynn, Thomas and James’ original colors, and the breakdown train’s sentience as retcons while keeping Henry’s original shape and blaming his TAB appearance on animation limitations. Since they both tell the same story, I wouldn’t lose too much sleep over it.
Great video and map! I actually like this alternative take on the IOS map and, though I still consider Mitton's western part of the map canon and TUT's eastern part canon, this can be of inspiration to change my mind! We need a part two!!!
I've seen several different interpretations of Sodor maps now and all of them, including this one, still fail to adequately explain how taking the Coastal Run is FASTER than just going straight from Knapford Harbor onto the Main Line...in either direction. Just looking at where it is in relation to Knapford Harbor and the entry points to the Main Line, no way in hell is the Coastal Run faster.
Timestamps: 0:32 The Main Line 6:29 Duck’s Branch Line/The “Little Western”/Arlesburgh Branch Line 8:09 Toby’s Branch Line/Sodor Tramways 9:38 Thomas’ Branch Line/Ffarquhar Branch Line 11:56 Edward’s Branch Line/Brendam Branch Line
I don't hate this map but I have two things that are just my opinion 1 in my head canon callen is the middle station on the loop line with the iorn bridge near it 2nd I allways thought Toby's line was the great w line but that my opinion
Well if you have the motivation and free time to do it, because island of sodor is 62 miles (from West to East) and 51 miles (from North to South) so making this very huge map would be impossible
Yep. That’s from the Railway Series. It was one of the three standard gauge railways on Sodor that all combined together to create the North Western Railway in 1915. The TKER was ran by the Coffee Pot engines, like Glynn from The Adventure Begins.
unfortunately yes lmao. The weirdest thing about this map is that there are two identical tunnels on either side of the island. Whichever one Henry actually stayed in is kind of up to the viewer

Ironically they are all my favorite things about this map
i can't wait for part two of this map of your's

How come the link to your jpg doesn't work?
I had no idea the Cronk and Harwick Railway existed before today.
Northern Sodor is seriously overlooked.
I can feel my brain running out of my ear.
So much better than the Sam Wilkison's Map. Everything layout perfectly. Glad I'm not the only one that made two henry tunnels.

I personally try to implement a little something of each map into my Sodor map
@@Avery_Productions that's what every TTTE fan should do! He definitely inspired me on making my own map!
Amazing that you even included locations from TATMR. (Thomas and the Magic Railroad)
Technically the NWR terminates at Barrow-In-Furness, as that's where The Express (Wild Nor Wester) is dropped off
Only in the books as far as we know.
In the TV series, Barrow was never mentioned to be the terminus.
Wow I love it
8:03 I believe that NWR58's "Copper" touched on this expansion project.
If I were you, I’d place Sodor in the mid Atlantic Ocean with more landmarks leading to Europe
I personally think that if you make a part 2 to clean up the Knapford area a little bit

I really wish I was good at digital graphic design so I could make an island of Sodor map.
Great map video, it's really quite impressive!
(But would like to point out that the drive links are down, is there a plan to activate those?)

Are people allowed to do a Trainz version of this map?
Yeah I would love to see it
It would be a behemoth, so try if your computer allows lol. You can definitely use it for reference with existing routes

TKER? Never heard of that railway.
The wiki lists a Tidmouth, Knapford and Elsbridge Light Railway so perhaps it's that.

Think this might work with some of the Trainz "hybrid" layouts?
And was the Sodor map made by DoormattCovers1992 on DeviantArt another source of inspiration in developing yours?
Can you do a map for TATMR by any chance???
Cranky works at Brendam Docks, not Knapford Harbour!
according to his video there are two Henry's tunnels then?
unfortunately yes lmao. The weirdest thing about this map is that there are two identical tunnels on either side of the island. Whichever one Henry actually stayed in is kind of up to the viewer
@@duckgwr08 ok. also, i've noticed you've referred Miner's Halt from season 5 as Toryreck. that would mean Miner's Halt "doesn't exist"
