    Such a timely video! And I love the walk through explaining the do's and don'ts. Thank you!

    I recently switched from Elementor to BrickBuilder (luckily, just after the security issue) and I find your videos incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!
    Both tools are powerful and user-friendly, especially when guided by someone like you who explains things so calmly and simply.

    It's fun and opens my mind to the possibilities as I just started using elementor and acf. I rather see something like this attached to a taxonomy (cat/tag) as it would make sense to attach colors or icon to a group of articles rather than making your grid a rainbow on a post by post basis.

      Aha, that would be good too :)

      Yep, that's my use case as well. Sadly, Elementor doesn't currently allow you to natively pull taxonomy term colour meta fields. You'll either need a workaround (like the one I showed somewhere), or try a different plugin like JetEngine. Dynamic shortcodes is another option.

    Hi Imran. This is an excellent video! I never thoght of using a custom field for the background/overlay color. Its very sneaky, in the best way possible.

    Imran I love your creative practical solutions!! This would work also with native wordpress custom field, right?

    Hi Imran, another excellent video. Your work for the community is outstanding. I enjoy every video. In regards to this idea, I'm using JetEngine and adding ACF would make my environment more complex. Do you think this would work with JetEngine Custom Types, too?

    Great , but... how can I use the *default color* from the color picker meta before I had emptied the value and I can't remember the default code color? What can I do?

    Absolut fantastisch hack! I was trying so hard in the past struggled with Color picker.
    Would it be possible to use a selector field to be able to choose from pre specified colors?

    • @websquadron
      @websquadron  2 месяца назад

      Yup, you could add a select or radio, and then list your options for the author to select.

    I specifically asked ACF support a couple of months ago about the color hex field and they confirmed it doesn’t work. I wanted to use the color as a background for loop grid items. No go. What I ended up doing was creating a background image in PS that was a gradient roughly matching my loop grid item size. I needed this background to subtly pull colors from the associated loop grid image. I added an image field in ACF , imported the image , set the loop background to my image custom field. Not sure if you could do your hex color as a gradient. Awesome stuff. I will definitely use this method.

      Don't you think that Elementor is Dying ? i mean , they do not fix common bugs and the UI is so buggy , also , i tested the new one and was just cosmetics, they did not change anything, worked equally bad.

      @@SebastianPerezG if you are asking me, I’m not really a developer. Elementor is not dying that’s for sure but after looking in depth at this field, I can why there is a big push for Bricks. For now I am using Elementor. The support has been fine for me, and it’s worked fine for me otherwise. The problem I mentioned is actually an ACF issue not Elementor.

      @@caknucklerElementor has over 15 million installs. How is it dying? It's the most widely used page/theme builder by miles.

      @@SpencerTaylorOnline correct. It was the other commentor who had that belief. If I was starting over I would have done a deeper dive into builders and probably gone with Bricks for the cleaner code. I’ll be using Elementor for a while. As I said they’re support has been fine and I haven’t really had any issues with bugs except for a few minor issues which were addressed relatively quickly. That’s pretty important.

    Really? I didn't know that the ACF color picker field dynamic tag was buggy.
    Maybe because I mostly use JetEngine.

    • @websquadron
      @websquadron  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yup, it's been a bugbear for me a few times and I remember seeing a post about it somewhere. You might be right about JE making the difference there.

      I just ran Imrans solution through the ringer. I see where sometimes the dynamic field does populate with ACF fields and sometimes not. The solution does seem fine with a single color but I can’t get gradients to work. I tried in the last using a text field with hex values and using that as the color but that doesn’t seem to work with even one color. Oh well I either use my image gradient or go with one color. It can probably be done in css but out of my pay scale.

      @@caknuckler let me run some quick tests myself. I really need to use ACF more.
      I do many things manually these days using Dynamic Shortcodes (for dynamic stuff) and CoreFrameworks (for utility styling).

      @@caknuckler you're right! I just tested using dynamic tags for the Background Overlay Gradient Colour and it didn't work with any custom field - native, ACF or JetEngine. Maybe @websquadron can take a closer look.
      I'd probably have resorted to using custom CSS for it. Let me go check if there's a bug report for it

    As a web developer , working with Elementor sucks , really, i work fast, instant results, custom code, but, Elementor seems like is dying, they wont fixes a lot of ui bugs and useless functions like nobody cares, like, do you have the same problems with the template page that do not show all the others sections ? i mean , header , footers , etc until you click published? i'm talking the old version of that, also , dragging and dropping on the navigation bar is horrible , who thought that keeping the dragging element VISIBLE and not WITH SOME OPACITY OR MAY BE SHRINKED will be better, i can't drag an outside element or root element inside a container as a root element ? draggin elements on the canvas sometimes wont work and left an horrible pink line or block.
    Also, who was in charge of the icons on those containers, you can't select containers using the icon because they overlapping, some sliders an carousels don't share the same properties , example, navigation bullet in one you can put inside or outside and another don't , why?
    That is a few, maybe they will give you a reason on why they spend money in AI but they don't fix this issues, seems like bricks has a ton of space now.

      I don't think your comment is valuable for this video or post?
      I would recommend starting a FB group, or your own channel/social media outlet and putting your view there.
      Don't get me wrong because your view is your view, and no-one should tell you to think differently, but unless my video or post is specifically about EL being the best and all other page builders are rubbish (or that anyone who dares to use any page builder rather than raw-site building is fake) etc etc etc then you should post elsewhere.
      I put effort and time into content for many reasons and many people. Not everyone will like it. That's life.
      And unless EL hurts your income, you shouldn't mind either.
