  • This is an older beast of a camcorder. I've used it for Martial Arts projects including an Indi movie, EL Negocio. I'm trying to decide it it's time to sell so I've made a short video outlining some of it's features. Filmed in my home studio you an see the quality of the image!

    The video quality is really good , done a good job with the deinterlace ,what software used to comb it out

    • @WeaponsAcademy
      @WeaponsAcademy  3 года назад +1

      I didn't ! Its shot and edited in 1080i, and then I loaded it up to you tube. I edited in Vegas used the match media settings, the raw clip is the same format as it was shot in. Interlaced can look really good in my opinion as long as there is not a lot of movement..... Thanks for commenting!

    Thank you for this video.
    My camera is not focusing correctly. I put it on auto and have tried manually.
    I can zoom in and out. But the focus is not working. Blurry image.
    Any idea on what the issue is? I’m thinking I will need to buy a new lens?

    I've got this camera with missing parts, I need to know what cable I need to connect with the laptop...
    And I was thinking to use Adobe premiere pro or OBS to make the videos...
    What could you tell me about that?
    Thanks beforehand!

      You need a firewire cable and a firewire card to accept that cable on your computer. The camera is 4 pin so whatever firewire port on your computer,, find a cable to match both the camera and the port. mine was 4 pin to 6 pin on my computer. Any editing software should work, I use Vegas with no issues....

    You can record footages over 60 mins using an externally connected sony MRC1 (1440x1080 hdv compressed) or an HDMI capture device (1920x1080 full mpeg4 direct from cmos sensor). I'm still using my HVR z5 (twin brother of fx1000) with CF cards without problems. You should keep it.

    • @WeaponsAcademy

      Yes I have the MRC1, works great with this camera! Have not tried it with capture device. The camera actually just sold I'm gonna miss it! i still have the Z7 and use it for some projects.... Thanks for stopping by!

      @@WeaponsAcademy or Halil Baba. This sounds really interesting! Can I use my old FX1000 to become a "card camera" just by adding a MRC1? How is this device connected to my camera? Can I really record full HD (1920x1080) with the MRC1 and using the HDMI output? Has the MRC any HDMI connector at all? Or should I use the FireWire output?
      How is the MRC1 powered? Seems to me that is it some sort of "hook-on" device only, with some special multi-connector. Look forward to some answers! Thank you!

      Anyone out there who can answer my questions about the MCR1 and the FX1000?

    • @WeaponsAcademy
      @WeaponsAcademy  3 года назад

      @@jourwalis-8875 you can record via firewire to the MRC1. i do it that way. you do have to manually start the MRC as it is not synced to the FX1000 basically press record on the MCR and not the camera, no bid deal at all. The video quality and file type will be exactly as the camera is set. the max is 1440x1080 60i, not 60p. It works great and is more reliable than using a tape. I have some test videos uploaded, i think it looks fine for what I do. There is also full HDMI out but i have not tested with a HDMI external recorder but there is plenty information on that in this thread.... Thank you

      @@jourwalis-8875 Yes you can do tapeless
      recording. Other than Mrc1, there are other dv recording options. Sony DR60 60gb hdd recorder and Datevideo DN-60 compact flash recorder. For HDMI recording Atomos Ninja series are great. All of these solutions are quite expensive but you can try cheap Chinese Ezcap280 HDMI capture box. It can satisfy you.

      @jeromunez7962 , if you see it in low quality once you are live streaming , try to increase the bitrate in OBS. If it does look low quality before streaming(in OBS) don't know what couls be , Don't own that camera. But maybe there is an option to configure it.

    Some reflections on the FX1000 (I own one myself). It´s a good camera, but it has some severe drawbacks, making it more or less useless as a professional tool. First the picture. It has very small CCD chips, making the depth of field very long. The background is as sharp as the motif. No separation at all. You can see it clearly in the above video. A professional camera with a full frame chip has a very small depth of field, and therefore you can chose were to put the focus. This is the true cinematic, professional look!
    And then the sound. It lacks professional XLR connectors for both mic and line. And also therefore lacks phantom power for professional mikes. The mini-jacks is not balanced, which makes it very sensitive to electical disturbances. Furthermore CH 1 and CH2 can not be adjusted separately, but only in gang.
    Other than that, I am very delighted with the lens, with 20 times optical zoom! Nearly no modern camera can match that!

    • @hutti
      @hutti 2 года назад +1

      I wouldn't see the lack of shallow depth of field as a drawback. It's the same at many professional cameras, even today. Often you just don't want bokeh, for example when you're interviewing a person and in the background happens something interesting. Of course you wouldn't make a film with a small sensor camcorder, but for ENG they're still great imho.
      The FX1000 was kind of the cheaper version of the HVR-Z5 which has XLR inputs and other additional features, such as a port for the MRC1 CF card recorder. I'd suggest the Z5 over the FX1000 since the price difference on the used market isn't that high anymore.

      Seeing as the largest 3-chip sensor is 1/2", I fail to see how a 1/3" one could be described as "very small". If it's "cinematic" to have up to 90% of your image be blurry, then maybe "cinematic" is not what anyone should be aiming for. The real drawback is that shooting 60i doesn't seem to translate to a 60fps upload on RUclips.

      I have the Compact Flash unit as well. This camera is used in most of the openings to my new videos. I leave it set up in my office. I recently picked up the AX700. It does beat out this camera, but not by much! Its just that the 60i HDV format is old now, if this only did true progressive recording! Take care

    • @johnvitw5030
      @johnvitw5030 4 года назад +1

      @@WeaponsAcademy The camera will do progressive recording. You can set it to 30p at 1080. If you record via HDMI OUT with a Blackmagic Video Assist you wil get even better quality still. I use the 5 inch version and record with ProRes 422 LT and the images are excellent. It certainly holds up today in 2020 for sure.
