- Love this classic first of it's kind camcorder from 2004. The sound I turn up too loud in editing hence the occasional distortion. These units record rather low sound volume by default but I over cracked it in post sadly. Anyways it still holds up in 2021 I’m sure you will agree.
This camera looks really good. It brings a cinematic feel from early 2000s.
Was the first HD camera that recorded to tape. Came out 2004 and still holds up well I’m 2022 I’d say 😊
I still have mine. Purchased in 2004. Great little camera.
Lovely pro unit and picture does hold up well as does low light recording to be fair
I really like the FX1, had one i bought around 2016 to replace my Canon XH-A1s (which i would recommend if you like your HDV cams)
I used to own the Canon and it was an outstanding camera but sadly had to sale it few years ago. It was built like a tank and definitely was great picture from it. I filmed my friends wedding in 2017/2018 with it and was excellent 👌
That is so cool! I have an fx1 and i love it and I use it a lot!
that’s awesome, this was sony’s first HDV one right?
Yes indeed. First HDV unit ever and still looks great in 2021!
honestly I'd love to pick one of these up some day soon!!
They seem to go for not much at all these days so if you can go for it! Lovely pro unit to use 😊
@@epicchris1985 Chris I was messing about with the Rarevision app on my Smartphone, if you put it on, you will recognize the 2 black lines on both left and right sides of the Screen and a kind of a line on the bottom, am I correct in saying that real camcorder footage never had this, here is a Rarevision video ruclips.net/video/9JggaY0Q3QE/видео.html
I've never seen a VHS tape like that but this app is really making tape damaged effect and does a good job but it can't compare to the real thing. Tapes tend to have lines at top and bottom more than say side issues. I got the app few years ago and used it a few times in editing videos and does look great. I like how you can swipe up and down to change the effect!
Im going to buy one very soon! I talked with a guy and said that I can record videos with the datestamp in there like with analog cams that had the datestamp in the video
I know the date and time is recorded to the tape and can be seen by pressing the display button but never seen it be able to be recorded into the video footage myself as I have only seen and been able to do that with the Z1 or Z5 as the are pro units. Hope you can though if that's the look you want. Depending on how you capture the video though you can get round it anyways as if you capture via USB video capture you can press display while capturing and it will show no issue but if you capture via FireWire like I always do you can't do that as it captures raw digital video only.
Great for paranormal activity!
Low light was fantastic. I miss this unit 😢
@@epicchris1985 I miss not having nightmares!
Can I Live Stream with this camera?
It’s depends on your hardware. The camera has FireWire output and that’s the best to use for best picture but your device needs to have FireWire and that’s rare these days. If you have an old Windows laptop or MacBook then it should have FireWire then will work well or if you have a new pc you can still buy FireWire cards to plug into the motherboard then will work great 👍
what cord do I use to plug the camera into my computer?:))) (I’m using this camera as well btw)
You need FireWire on this unit. Best way to find the right cable is to pop on Ebay and search HDR-FX1 FireWire then it will come up with loads. If you do not have FireWire on your computer you will need to look at other options.. on my Imac it's too new to have FireWire so I had to get adaptors from Apple that go from USB-C to FireWire and it costs a bit but works greate :)
@@epicchris1985 is it possible to live stream with this camera?
@@24jmurph with the right software yes. You would need to use FireWire output and that is rare on computers these days. It depends on the hardware you have to use.
whats the different between FX1, FX1000 , AX2000 ?
FX1 came first in 2004 and is a CCD unit then few years later FX1000 came out and dropped the CCD sensor for CMOS and so better in low light and some other tweaks including a better onboard mic. Both these units are tape units recording to mini HDV. The AX2000 again is much the same but no longer records to tape but cards and so will still be more costly today as no tape drive to go wrong. All info on all 3 units can still be found on Sony's website as they are very good at keeping old unit info up to download and read years later.
@@epicchris1985 thank you
No problem :) @@martin_minimalwave
Como puedo conectarla a mi pc para usarla como webcam?
Disculpa no hablo ingles, espero me puedas responder
You sound just like Eric Idle. 🙂
Do I? I don’t hear it 😂
@@epicchris1985 Well, maybe to an American whose exposure to British people has mostly been through 70s-80s PBS TV.
@@SquarewaveTechnology Ohh I see haha. Yes us brits do sound rather alike actually.
