John Cena’s longevity and how he’s been able to stay relevant is insane. I grew up watching him in the mid 2000s and somehow my 4 year old nephew knows who he is and he’s not even a wrestling fan. He doesn’t even call it WWE he calls it WWJohnCena. Cracks me up every time 😂
@Brutus Biggy The merchandise sales , ticket sales and the longevity as a box office attraction and selling our house shows , tickets under his names proves he was one of the biggest draw of all time from 2005 to 2015 no one was making more money , selling more tickets or was the face as long as john cena !!
@@lewisclarke5240I beg to differ, John Cena and his t shirt is probably the most recognized thing about WWE since stone cold Steve Austin in many countries.
It all comes down to the era we're talking about. Hulk Hogan was the biggest draw of the 80's and 90's. The Rock and Stone Cold were the biggest draws of the Attitude Era, John Cena, Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker were the biggest draws of the Ruthless Aggression Era and Roman Reigns is the biggest draw of the PG Era. @@darkundead That is a good argument my friend. If we're talking from a part time perspective, Lesnar definitely drew tons of money. I'd like to base my opinion from a full time perspective however. I'm talking about a full timer who can take the "face of the company" role the same way Cena did, a talent that shows up every week and delivers, a talent that draws people's attention, and that is currently Roman Reigns.
It’s really great looking back into pro-wrestling seeing those men that carried the business, it really is. Each man on the list did their part for the industry.
Agreed. People have to realize each person stood on the shoulders of each individual, who made the business as big as it became. It is baffling, when people would state if Steve Austin stayed in WCW, then WCW would have won the war over the WWF. They act like the Stone Cold persona would have somehow been created in WCW and the entire Attitude Era would have taken place there.
@@alanguages actually, stone cold was jake 'the snake' roberts' brainchild. i didn't think of it back in '96, but watching some of these vids exposed such & made me think of king of the ring '96 when austin beat roberts in the final & austin 3:16 was born. roberts was even going to write 10 austin commandments, but that didn't happen.

Well where would wrestling as a whole and all other stars after Hulk be if not for Hogan. He made it possible for stars like Stone cold, rock, and Cena to be the draws they became. Hogan is king weather you loved or hated him. You can’t name other stars without naming Hogan first. Even Andre the giant reached new heights after working with Hogan.
This is very similar to "who the goat is" conversation. As you concluded hard to determine but if you ask me it's The Rock. "Draw" Ability to me is based on overall draw of the market. The Rocks brand has transitioned in grew to its own entity if he returns today and put roman over. Roman will be the modern day hogan
Roman would be the new Hogan? Dude, do you have the slightest idea how much Hulk Hogan CHANGED THE GAME in the craft? Austin, Rock, Hogan, Flair, Cena, and Bruno are the guys who changed everything. Roman Reigns is good but Hulk Hogan is GREAT.

Brock Lesnar was never a draw in his first run despite being a main eventer immediately. He and Angle were the main event at WrestleMania 19 and the show didn’t do a very big buy rate. Angle and Taker at that time wasnt a draw despite both big stars. Haters gotta admit Cena and Batista were the draws during the Ruthless Aggression Era. Undertaker eventually became a draw when his WrestleMania streak became more serious which was after 2006.
The Rock & Stone Cold together I really can’t speak of one without bigging up the other. They are the biggest Merch sellers they created the ability for Cena & Roman to be who they are
John cena outsold those two on merchandise sales and was the box office attraction longer then those two. U should not put roman's name next to john cena. John made it big on his own without being the rock's cousin and he wasn't suppose to the face from the begining. They tried wirh orton , Batista and many more bt John naturally became the biggest star in wwe. Austin had HBK and the rock bt john did it own his own. @@jobaerbhuiyan6501 Why don’t ppl read for comprehension. I said Rock & Stone cold paved the way for the next superstar to have that ability. John Cena became a draw in a time of Zero Competition. Of course Cena outsold them because in his era of u wanted to watch wrestling you had to watch WWE. There was no other legit brands available. He was the product of A Branding Monopoly. Also Randy and Batista where Not Good Baby Faces but they made Good Heels for Cena. Cena was decent but was really the Rock and Hulk Hogan Mixed together. Rock/Stone literally came up in a Monday Night War fought to make WWF the Publically trade WWE brand they where so good together they literally bankrupt the bigger competitor a brand that had the deepest pockets Ted Turner. They not only had to fight against there own superstars they had to night after night beat Sting/Macho Man/Nash/Hall/DDp & Hulk Hogan every night and did it! Any baby face can become the biggest draw with no competition I mentioned Roman because he also had that push. Being Rocky’s cousin didn’t stop him from being booed night after night so I’m not sure why u bring that up. But bothRoman and Cena benefited from all the work of the Attitude era to be able to be decent company faces.

Biggest draw has to be Austin, the reaction us fans gave him (I was 9 lol) was fucking UNREAL! Go watch the promo of Linda McMahon telling the crowd that Stone cold will be in the rocks corner for backlash. Austin in my personal opinion is the biggest draw in the history of WWF/E
I gotta say that the rock is the biggest draw of all time. He has transcended wrestling so much that a lot of people don’t even know the rock was a wrestler. They know him as the movie star. He’s so not just a wrestler, but a pop culture icon🐐
Respect to all those mentioned in the video because I appreciate them all in my own way because they all have ment something througout my life, accept for maybe the 1930 wrestler because I didn't know him (but drawing 100.000 people during the time of the great depression years is a impact nonetheless and I don't care what anyone says, it's impact) But who is the biggest draw of all time: Yes, The Rock simply because he was (and still is) so succesful in his WWE career that it catapult him into the highest paid blockbuster movie star. That is the biggest draw you can get in my book: That your draw comes with you even when you left the platform where the draw was born.
@@chriscollins3225 didn’t moxley get booed against hangman? Fans will boo hangman if he gets pushed for too long because they’ll want another underrated talent in the spotlight. AEW is only 2yrs old so I don’t really have many examples, but I expect this to be the trend in the future.
For me, it has to be Rock and Austin. Never ever missed a single episodes of Raw and SD back in 1999-2002, rushed in front of the TV after the school. For now, Roman is undoubtedly the biggest draw. The tribal chief is just phenomenal, in ring performance, the story, the drama, the promos, the gimmick, the attitude, the charisma, he has got it all.
@@Hawks2tuff Not wrong. Ratings are in the toilet. Roman isn’t helping those numbers go up. He just keeps them from going down. That’s not a great draw.

I'd give ANYTHING to go back to 1998, when I first started watching WWF, so I could watch the attitude Era all over again. Austin will always be the greatest in my eyes. He was the total package. Rock is a close second.
3:30 basically states why Hogan is the biggest draw. His popularity and charisma took wrestling to a level that made it possible for the others after him to draw.
Basically this. All other draws are still, in a way, riding his coattails, and thus I'd say a percentage of their takes must be accredited to him. Rock vs. Hogan stole the show at WM 18, and that wasn't because of the Rock. Austin's match on that card isn't even a footnote.
@@jasonseipler2665 TBH, never looked at it that way, because each person has to prove themselves and get over, but business wise, Hogan should Technically receive a percentage of all merch sales in WWE, to this day. Like .5 percent of it but still, as a show of respect for what he did and how he did.
@@jasonseipler2665 Austin was originally planned to be in the main event against Triple h that night. However him turning heel was bad for business so they turned him babyface. Then plan B was to have him against Hogan but Austin didn't wanna work with Hogan. So they had the Rock face Hogan instead and Austin was left in a mid-card feud with Scott Hall. The point is that Wrestlemania plan A ideas were being built around Austin. Not Rock not Hogan. Austin. He was gonna be the first undisputed champion. Not Jericho. Shows how Austin was the top guy. Above Rock and Hogan.
Austin’s run in 98-99 was a lightning in a bottle. Everything just fall into place, the character he was trying to portray, the Monday night war era, the screw job, the demography of the audience at the time. It was just as what the doctor has ordered. He was and forever will be the biggest draw in professional wrestling.
Honestly I’d have to say in terms of overall impact on the product, merch moving, longevity, and the ability to be a mainstream star, John Cena has to be the biggest draw of all time. Love him or hate him, John Cena did numbers no one else has, he carried the WWE during an era that took place in an ever changing time when it comes to ratings and television viewership, and his ability to have big matches with almost anyone coupled in with just how charitable he was with Make a Wish and everything else he’s done. Steve Austin for sure is the biggest draw of his era, I’d say even more so than The Rock, but when it comes to all time, it’s gotta be Cena
You have to look at it like that Hogan pretty much build the industry and start it both wrestling booms at 80 and 90 And austin and the rock toke the industry to next level
Exactly, John Cena is the biggest star in wrestling history, and he didn’t need Hollywood, ya he has it now but before 2021 what MEGA movie did he play in ? anything he did in Hollywood after 2015 doesn’t really count count because he was done being a full timer. Cena became the biggest, and (imo) the greatest by doing it all in the ring. From my earliest memories of watching wrestling (summer of 2006) all the way until now, he’s been my favorite and forever will be no matter what people say. He made wrestling fun to me. John Cenas the GOAT.

As a young non wrestling fan growing up for me . Everyone knew who John cena was if you were a wrestling fan or not. That's how big he was. Randy Orton was around the same level maybe a bit lower
In his era, Cena was the biggest draw. Everyone else is second. Austin and Rock were 1A and 1B. Maybe Austin had the edge, but Rock was huge too. This was a special time because they had two guys who were legit transcending stars who could carry the company on their own. Hulk Hogan was above everyone else in his era as well.
It's one thing to know a name and follow someone on social media but its a whole nother level to have people buying tickets to come see you. Sitting at home and knowing about someone is good but having people leave their homes and pay money to come see you is impressive.
The objective top 3 in no particular order are: Hulk Hogan The Rock Steve Austin After that it gets pretty difficult to decide who should be number 4 and upwards.
I think what makes Roman an even better heel, is the fact that literally everyone got tired of him as a baby face and I guess wwe management knew that if he came back as a face there would be massive backlash, and also his obsession with being acknowledged, going as far as to beat his own family shows just how far he’s willing to go to get what he wants as a heel
I agree Stone Cold is a money making machine for WWE. His iconic *Austin* *3:16**™* t-shirts still sells a lot. He was the nightmare of WCW. And nowadays Roman Reigns is the top guy in pro-wrestling. In the era where WWE ratings are falling down, Roman is the one who is carrying WWE on his back. He is the nightmare of AEW.
This is a fantastic video man!! Great work. I'm definitely subbed now! This video vindicates why Austin Rock Hogan and Cena are on my mount rushmore. You've done your homework here 👏👏.
For those that pick Austin he definitely a solid choice. But me personally as someone who watched since Hulkamania til now with Roman Reigns I'd say its Hulk Hogan simply because he literally changed the course of wrestling twice. Once as a good guy and again as a heel. Some will argue that with the nWo he had help with Hall and Nash which is true. But everyone knows if Hogan wasn't the 3rd man the whole nWo thing wouldnt have worked as well as it did because how invested we all were to see him turn heel. Also which i didnt hear about when talking numbers was Hogans Hulkamania run adjusted to the times. This would have to be done twice for 80s - 90s old school era and Attitude era. Last point, Hogan vs The Rock wouldn't have been as great if it was anyone else, now thats some drawing power. That whole storyline had to change because how badly fans got behind Hogan. Im just saying.
I say Cena. PROFFESSIONAL WRESTLING had no business being in the mainstream for as long as it did after the Ruthless Aggression era but Cena made it happen. Truly sensational
The actual biggest draw in wrestling history is actually Jim Londos. He was the top drawing wrestler from 1926-1928, 1930-1934 and 1937-1940. That's 13 years as the top drawing wrestler in the world. Back then they didn't have as many large stadiums as they do now, so he would sell out baseball stadiums. In 1934 he drew 100,000 people to the Athens Olympic Stadium, and they had to turn away another 30,000 attendees. It is reported he drew roughly $5 million in his prime. Now you might not think that's nothing today. You might say the Rock worst film grossed at least 4 times that, but you got to realize this was during the great depression. $5 M. in the great depression. If you account for inflation today's value that's roughly $90,000,000. No other wrestler in history compares to the "Golden Greek" Jim Londos. Edit: I wrote this comment before I saw the video, so yeah It's all included in there. My bad.

If your talking pure draw, I think you have to take into account the Rock's movie career. I know it isn't wrestling, but it works the same way. If a studio casts Dwayne Johnson as top billing they can draw more money. Now blockbuster lead is as big of a draw as Johnson right now. Many wrestlers have tried movies (including Hogan, and Austin) but none had the success as Johnson. I think that's enough to prove there has never been a better draw, over a wider section of fans, than The Rock. And as stated, he could come back at any time and have probably the best selling wrestlemania of all time.
Jeff Hardy: merch sales, accomplishments, longevity, innovation, main stream appeal (was in “that 70’s show” and “fear factor”), controversy (which nearly all these big starts have), the look, cross promotion success, started from nothing (no family ties to the business etc..). We will never have another like you Jeff, thank you.
I miss the monday night wars and the ruthless aggression era. Being a draw in that era meant something because there was actualy stars. Now wwe doesn't want anyone bigger than the company

That’s open to debate. It comes down to three people: Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, and Bruno Samartino. Bruno sold out Madison Square Garden more than anyone in history and was champion for a total of around 12 years. That’s more than Ric Flairs 16 reigns combined and more than Hogan’s (12) and Cenas(16) put together. The knock is that he mainly wrestled in the Norteast. WWE will tell you it’s Steve Austin. He sold more merchandise and PPV tickets than anyone else(according to WWE). The problem is that his time was so short (around 4-5 years due to injury). That leaves Hulk Hogan. He was the one behind the 80’s boom, drew 93,173(maybe) fans at WMIII, headlined the first 8 Wrestlmanias, made WCW relevant and increased their PPV buy rates, formed the NWO and lead WCW during the Monday Night War. He sold out arenas in the AWA, Japan, WWF, WCW, and back to WWE. Hogan gets my vote.

If we are basing it on general popularity, Hulk Hogan was the biggest draw in the late 80s to early 90s. Austin and the Rock were the biggest money draws. Jhon Cena was also one of the best draws. Overall, it is not easy to pinpoint who the biggest draw in Wrestling was, Hulk Hogan was the one who made wrestling mainstream. Cena became a draw after Austin and The Rock had made wrestling even more popular, But Cena wasn't able to maintain the same popularity as The Rock or stone cold did as the face of WWE. WWE slowly but surely started to become irrelevant after Cena became part time. Cena was the last big draw in Wrestling.
Hogan felt like a super hero when I was younger. Stone cold and the rock was both box office must see tv. Interviews, back stage antics, in ring performance, iconic theme music. It's hard to pick one over the other
It will always be Cena for me. I can't imagine anyone else who could do what he did for as long as he did it, in the PG environment he did it in while raising an entirely new generation of fans.
Has to be Hogan people are forgetting Hogan built the WWE with mcmahon and then did it again with a whole new edge with wcw , no one else can say they did that. Also I believe I read somewhere his live attendance numbers were the best for a long stint. Austin second , would've been number 1 had he been around longer.
I'm lowkey shocked Randy Orton wasn't Mentioned. I feel like John Cena and Randy Orton were the Ruthless Aggression's version of The Rock and Stone Cold
Hogan's the biggest draw. 1983 to 1988 was the highest point in pro wrestling and Hogan was the king of that era. Approximately 25 million people in the U.S alone watched Hogan on TV. 1996 to 2000 is the 2nd highest point of pro wrestling and Hogan in the nWo was the hottest thing in wrestling until the end of 1997. And Hogan was still on fire until 2000. Hogan came back to WWE in 2002 and he was huge then too. Then he went to TNA in 2010 and he drew over 2.5 million people to a company that drew about 1.5 million people. Hogan also drew the largest crowds in TNA's 19 year history. Hogan wins hands down.

Very solid video, I would also mention Batista when it comes to big draws. While he isn't the biggest draw (that was probably Cena, Hogan, The Rock or Steve Austin), Batista is a well known celebrity that if he returned today, he would get people watching, whether that be the old school fans or movie fans. While I wouldn't say he was the biggest draw during his prime, I think his brief returns in the 2010s should definitely be noted. Also on a side note, he is the only wrestler to have appeared in the highest grossing film of all time so The Animal has that going for him

It all comes down to the era we're talking about. Hulk Hogan was the biggest draw of the 80's and 90's. The Rock and Stone Cold were the biggest draws of the Attitude Era, John Cena, Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker were the biggest draws of the Ruthless Aggression Era and Lesnar (again), Cena (again) and Roman Reigns are the biggest draws of the PG Era.

I think you commented this before
Kurt angle and undertaker were not the biggest draws in ruthless mate
Brock Lesnar was never a draw in his first run despite being a main eventer immediately. He and Angle were the main event at WrestleMania 19 and the show didn’t do a very big buy rate. Angle and Taker at that time wasnt a draw despite both big stars. Haters gotta admit Cena and Batista were the draws during the Ruthless Aggression Era. Undertaker eventually became a draw when his WrestleMania streak became more serious which was after 2006.
@@andrewizard8285 undertaker definitely was lol.

But bothRoman and Cena benefited from all the work of the Attitude era to be able to be decent company faces.

They transcended WWE into Hollywood and John Cena literally became a meme recognize by almost everyone, Peacemaker show, popular appearances in countless films. Most people know Dwayne Johnson as The Rock before his actual name plus his collab with Under Armour , own energy drink brand, etc. Both have become worldwide known figures and whenever I see them in WWE , the pops they get are insane. Hogan just simple started a whole movement of Hulkmania and I think has one of the most recognizable WWE entrances ever.
The fact that you named John Cena and left Steve Austin. 🤦🏾♂️ 🤦🏾♂️
@@Rich-km7pr don't get me wrong I think Stone Cold is a huge draw but not to the same light as the other three I mentioned. I think Stone Cold is in the same light as undertaker in which they are some of the most beloved wrestlers and are in that conversation of greatest wrestler of all time but when it comes to biggest draws of all time, the other three have such a huge platform within WWE and outside of WWE hence why I think they are more well-known whether you're a hardcore wrestling fan or not
Cena may have transcended wrestling but not to the extent that Hogan and the Rock did.
@@Secretplayer14 yeah how often do you hear non wresting fan speak about stone cold? Never. Hogan and Rock and then later on Cena also have a much larger global fanbase
@@Secretplayer14stone cold is the biggest draw he above cena and rock maybe even above hogan
Even for people that don't follow wrestling and don't watch bad Disney movies . They still know John Cena and undertaker either through internet or just hearing their name somewhere . I can't say for other countries but in india my grandmother has never ever watched any kind of. Wrestling but even she has heard the name John Cena and undertaker so I would say those two
Stupid guy in india people know wwe because of undertaker and john cena but in other countries rock is biggest draw
Jeff Hardy:
merch sales, accomplishments, longevity, innovation, main stream appeal (was in “that 70’s show” and “fear factor”), controversy (which nearly all these big starts have), the look, cross promotion success, started from nothing (no family ties to the business etc..).
We will never have another like you Jeff, thank you.
In my opinion, Stone cold.
CENA FOR ME BELIEVE THAT..!
I miss the monday night wars and the ruthless aggression era. Being a draw in that era meant something because there was actualy stars. Now wwe doesn't want anyone bigger than the company
Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Steve Austin, John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, late 90’s early 2000’s Triple H comes to mind.
Facts
I agree with everyone you mentioned except shawn Michaels. He was a big star, but he wasn't a huge draw and business was down when he was on top in the mid 90s. It wasn't his fault obviously, nobody could compete with the nWo.
Thank you for saying brock lesnar he's my favorite and so many people I know hate him

@@RevohYT yes punk was mentioned in the video for that but not Jeff hardy, however Jeff hardy and punk are not draws like hogan, Austin, cena, etc.

No one had a bigger prime than The Rock, once he took off everyone was left behind,The Rock from 99 onwards was untouchable,he broke all kinds of records and his records still stand till date,he is the biggest box office draw in wwe history 🐐

Draw... in terms of BOX Office sell out, marketability, recognition, and attraction, in the ring and out... it has to be The Rock. There's no doubt at all, that if he were to come back for one more match against Roman Reigns, my point would be proven.
Hogan???
whenever this topic is brought up, I'm always shocked to see the lack of a mention of Virgil. Virgil was arguably the biggest hero of the golden era next to Hogan. He was able to draw just when his name was said. But Virgil does lack longevity, on top of that he didn't win any championships which is absurd.

Rock & Austin. Especially for what they achieved in such a short space of time.
Roman Reigns
Imo it is your best video. Big respect to you
Hogan felt like a super hero when I was younger. Stone cold and the rock was both box office must see tv. Interviews, back stage antics, in ring performance, iconic theme music. It's hard to pick one over the other
Out of curiosity if you had to pick just one, who would it be?
It will always be Cena for me. I can't imagine anyone else who could do what he did for as long as he did it, in the PG environment he did it in while raising an entirely new generation of fans.
yup--3
What about Roman Reigns?
I mean I could, but i’m only 5”9
Has to be Hogan people are forgetting Hogan built the WWE with mcmahon and then did it again with a whole new edge with wcw , no one else can say they did that.
Also I believe I read somewhere his live attendance numbers were the best for a long stint.
Austin second , would've been number 1 had he been around longer.
People forget how big Hulkamania was. Brother.
I'm lowkey shocked Randy Orton wasn't Mentioned. I feel like John Cena and Randy Orton were the Ruthless Aggression's version of The Rock and Stone Cold
Randy has always been the number 2 who will serve as a transitional champion 💁♂️
It was batista and Cena
It was Batista and cena tbh
Randy never drew as much as Cena

Cena didn’t change the game in any respect. He did last a long time on top, so he does have that going for him.
Probably but it’s due to the time he was there because I’m todays wrestling hulk hogan would never get over
@@ItsqKiannbruh hogan is old right now, and scandals have hit him hard...so, it's not fair to say hulk would never do that today...88 hulk would definitely do it today...
I agree remember WrestleMania X8 in Toronto when the whole SkyDome almost 70,000 people in unison booed the shit out of The Rock because of Hulk’s fanbase which is unsual since Rock is a major babyface and was cheered relentlessly in the years prior even in 1999 In Toronto against Steve Blackman he was cheered as a heel
Hogan was big in America but not global especially not in 3rd world countries.

Also on a side note, he is the only wrestler to have appeared in the highest grossing film of all time so The Animal has that going for him
The rock stars aka main character high selling movies batista is a side character with lil screen time
Regardless who we think is the biggest draw ever, we should be grateful, we got multiple draws at all. Goes to show how legendary the roster was back then, when they were capable of creating multiple stars and not let one star hog it all nowadays.

Stone Cold Steve Austin by far. He brought wwe back into the mainstream when people started only caring about WCW. The Rock made them go public and won the war. Austin was hurt and only doing stunts at the end of the show. 1999-2000

I'd say Johncena!!! Cena had the best marketable face. His gimmicks starting from Thuganomics to You can't see me are just unforgettable. His promos are till this day, unmissable.
Especially considering that WWE was transitioning into a show mostly for kids and teenagers as major audience, Cena executed it perfectly. Not only in the USA but the entire world when asked about Cena will at a minimum say "You can't see me!". He was just everywhere and made WWE known as a global franchise. He defines WWE as an entertainment brand and is a true wrestling megastar.
The Rock is the biggest draw of all time:
1. Holds all time annual live gates record.
2. Holds the record of main eventing most number of PPVs with 500k buys.
3. Holds all time cable ratings record.
4. Outsold everyone in merchandise between 1999- 2001.
5. Transcended the industry unlike anyone like before.
