- Do you remember the first Pokemon game you ever played, along with the first team you ever used? I decided to go on a bit of a nostalgia trip and show off my first Pokemon team I used, and see how well they battle against Pokemon Stadium's unfair battles...

"TAKEN DOWN ON THE WOOORD GOOO". The nostalgia hurts it feels so good. That announcer was Goated. XD
"What's the matter, trainer?!"
That was brutal!
To answer the title, not really. The only thing I remember is having an overleveled starter Pokemon and a bunch of underlevel ones.
and having every move being the same type
I think I had a Chikorita which I'm glad about
It was the same for me because it was only a Blastoise at level 100
I will always hate heatran for softlocking my child mind 😅
"I know what I have to do but I won't do it" and then my brothers 3ds was stolen with the cartridge inside
I distinctly recall a few of the first ones I ever trained.
Zapdos, Raichu, Mewtwo, Venusaur, Snorlax, and Lapras on Red, and on Blue, I just had an overleveled Blastoise and Electrode decimating EVERYTHING in the game.
...the fact your cartrigde STILL WORKS is amazing.
yes aren't the batteries on cartridges ran out some time ago?
He's definitely smart enough to get around that.
yea it's kinda stupid how my old consoles and cartridges work perfectly still, but my Wii U is completely bricked because I didn't use it for a few years lmao (yes that;'s a thing with Wii U)
@@KingOfSkill no wonder that shit sold poorly.
@@KingOfSkill THAT CAN HAPPEN?! Nah that's ass 💀
We NEED more videos of Brent playing games from his childhood, this video was so wholesome
time to summon mario party vs his mom to see the true final boss of mario party
@@gilreygu98 Oh my god, if he actually got his mom to play Mario Party with him that would be the best video ever
I would rewatch it so many times

TAKEN OUT AT THE WORD GO!! A SAVAGE HIT!!! WHOA!!!! WOW, TAKEN DOWN WITH ONE HIT!!!!!
Pokémon Stadium commentator is the best hype man of all time and you can't convince me otherwise
I love listening to the music too. Game was great, and I loved the adapter s o you could play reb or blue version on the television screen
The battle revolution announcer has my vote, but this is a close second
He's so good, his voice lines appeared in Smash Remix, a mod for smash 64 that adds ton of stuff.
Its one of my favorite settings to turn on, and its amazing with friends.
More than 20 years later and this game still have the best battle animations ever, with a dynamic announcer narrating the battle in the background mind you.
well it and its successors (collosum xd, battle revolution)
And then Battle Revolution took all of that and cranked it to 11
Give Game freak a break. They're an up and coming indie studio
I say pokemon sword also had some extremely good animations
1:08 even from the beginning Brent was strategizing the most op combo
Honestly I literally just copied the Mewtwo boss's moveset LOL (except I had recover instead of Rest since I didn't want to fall asleep, and Mewtwo is so tanky in Gen 1 that recover is realllllllly good on him)
The announcer in those games was absolutely great
Shout out Ted Lewis! 🎉
Yes best in the series so much energy and hype
As for the answer to the title, my first ever game was X/Y, Pokemon Y specifically. So for my first team was:
Chesnaught, holding a Rocky Helmet, and the moves Seed Bomb, Brick Break, Bulldoze, and Spikey Shield.
Blastoise, holding the Blastoiseite, and the moves Surf, Iron Defense, Ice Beam, and Protect.
Talonflame, holding the Sky Plate, and the moves Fly, Roost, Flamethrower, and U-Turn.
Dragalge, holding the Leftovers, and the moves Dragon Pulse, Thunderbolt, Substitute, and Sludge Bomb.
Golurk, holding the Spooky Plate, and the moves Shadow Punch, Iron Defense, Earthquake, and Rock Polish.
And Lucario, holding the Lucarioite, and the moves Aura Sphere, Flash Cannon, Calm mind, and Poison Jab.
I'm guessing the Lucario is the gift one Korrina gives you? After the battle showing you how Mega Evolution works.
I like how the pokemon are more expressive in this game even when they faint. They actually faint instead of tilting their head back like in the modern games
Genius Sonority was the best
Some of these animations are actually nuts. Like Parasect or Squirtle using Take Down or Kabutops using Mega Kick. You can tell a lot of time, effort and passion was invested in that game
Fun fact: Due to Gen 1 being held together by string and tape, using Focus Energy actually LOWERED your chance of critting
That was fixed in Pokemon stadium
Yeah, if you used it in the handheld games, your crit rate would either stay the same or if you were slower than the enemy, it'd be lowered as you stated. Stadium fixed this as well as making it so Hyper Beam has to recharge no matter what.
Yes. My first game was Pokemon Diamond in 2007.
My team was Torterra, Staraptor, Luxray, Floatzel, Rapidash, and Dialga.
As you can see, my team was a very unique Sinnoh team 😂
To be fair, Diamond and Pearl had like zero other options. Gotta love the Fire-type Elite Four with two Fire types.
I started in platinum and my team was:
Empoleon, Starraptor, Roserade,Rapidash,Lucario and Giratina...
But then i saw Honhckrow and my team changed.
Gen 4: Empoleon, Roserade, Honchkrow, Bronzong, Lucario and Bastiodon. (Got lucky that i got Armor Fossil in Platinum)
Even in Platinum, they didn't really fix the problem.
I did recently played through Platinum for the first time with a team of Magmortar, Lucario, Garchomp, Azumarill, Umbreon and Porygon-Z. And it was surprisingly fun to use a varied team in Sinnoh!
@@rjante2236tru, which is why you don’t use any fire types
To be fair, Diamond, Pearl & both remakes dont give off too many new pokemon until you get all 8 badges
To answer the title, my first game being Black/White I remember beating the game with a team of Archeops, Zekrom, Druddigon, Galvantula and two other Pokemon I couldn’t remember.
Generation 1 was a wild experience.
Janky mechanics, broken Pokemon, absolutely brutal and unforgiving effects. It really felt different, and I love it for that.
That’s not to say the later generations are bad, they have a ton of good qualities about them, but nothing will rival to sheer jank of Red, Blue, yellow, and stadium.
Also great video overall, I forgot you were a pokemon fan, or at least a gen 1 through presumably 4 fan. It would be nice to see this type of content in the future, it’s a good vibe.
19:33 also if your wondering why Zapdos outsped, it’s because mew only has 100 speed. Zapdos naturally has way more.
Gen 1 also had the best glitches. Missingno for infinite items AND you could catch two Level 142 mons that were unique to each cartridge. Mine were Snorlax and Electrode. What's better than a Lv 100 Explosion? A Lv 142 Explosion :)
Zapdos base speed is also 100, it ties with Mew.
I guess my Zapdos was just crazy lol
@@KingOfSkill I think maybe you just won the 50/50 and then paralyzed it (making it slower)
The fainting animations on this game are the best ngl!
Boy you should see battle revolution
@@smashmallow1012 Okay!
"What'll it do?"
"Nailed the weak spot!"
"WHOA!"
"Ride that Surf!"
"Taken down on the word go!"
"Here's a Pokémon change."
"Major damage!"
"And there goes the battle!"
Thanks for the nostalgia trip, Brent! 😃
14:44 that ain't Birdboy, that's Gen 2 Lance
Except with the 3 legendary birds instead of the Dragonites
Don’t worry about the quality, it’s honestly impressive that you have hanged onto this kind of software/hardware that’s at least still in a playable state. Pretty cool how you used your own Pokémon, never really seen a gameboy used by my cousins so it was mostly rental/minigames for this and 2. Though plan to back up your old stuff well digitally considering that a hardware break can happen and boy would that be sad to lose it all due to age.
You don't need to apologize for poor quality when recording with original hardware.
If anything, it adds to the ambience of the experience.
3:33 zapdos Cast thunder spell on the evil vaporeon princess
10:04 *Do it again*
I can hear it in sophist's voice
PLEASE do more stuff like this! The vibes of these old games are awesome and I love Gen 1 Competitive Pokemon so this is sick!
Oh yeah, white two. Lucario, magnezone, arcanine, starmie, metagross and flygon, my current favourite pokemon.
I have a fun story with him, i encountered a wild vibrava right after you get the master ball and my older brother started screaming at me "OMG THIS IS THE ONLY LEGENDARY POKEMON THAT EVOLVES CATCH IT NOW" and i whipped out the master ball. Gotta say, thanks bro.
Banger Vid Brent would love to see more pokemon vids in the future.
King of Skill nuzlocke in the future?
Also this game is so nostalgic for me and was fun to watch this vid
More Pokémon Stadium plz, this was really fun to watch :)
My first game was Pokemon Y when I was 7. My team had Chestnaught, Raichu, Chandelure, Hawlucha, Mawile & Aegislash
The first Pokémon I played to completion was Pokémon diamond and it was a great time, my team was Infernape, luxray, staraptor, gastrodon, dialga, and garchomp. This video hits different for me since u are enjoying and reveling in the nostalgia. This is an amazing vid King of Skill.
Great vid, the quality was great and it was fun seeing Zapdos destroy prime cup, would love to see more Pokemon Stadium vids
TBH, I first played Pokemon Leaf Green as my first Pokemon Game, if I recall, my team was Venusaur, Slowbro (It was shiny, I freaked out when I got it in a game with very low shiny odds), Arcanine, Zapdos, Tauros, and Mewtwo (Mewtwo replaced my Rhydon). It's great that I get to see one of my favorite content creators play Pokemon Stadium. Keep up the good videos!
My first game was Platinum
Torterra
Staraptor
Luxray
Rampardos
Giratina
and for some reason Lumineon.
After seeing so many people subject themselves to Rental Randomizers for this game, it's very cathartic watching someone bring their childhood team to the field to go through the unfair madness
My first game was Pokémon Platinum, and my introduction to Pokémon as a whole. I played Diamond & Pearl afterward.
My team:
- Torterra
- Togekiss
- Lucario
- Luxray
- Floatzel
- Flareon
Diamond:
- Empoleon
- Garchomp
- Roserade
- Magmortar
- Honchkrow
- Scizor
Pearl:
- Infernape
- Electivire
- Staraptor
- Mismagius
- Gastrodon
- Carnivine
The fact you brought out your N64 already puts you in my top 5 RUclipsrs.
No way, I was just watching a bunch of pokemon vids and you upload this. 😂
I love the constant use of Paper Mario sound effects, you’re truly my kind of guy Brent
*Me who hasn't played a single pokemon in his life*
O-of course! I remember when I was uh...8 years old! when I I had my team of...pikachu yeah my first pokemon and then I got charizard and and then I bought lucario for 5 coins.
3:28 That gave me a good laugh because back in high school I use to have that scream as my notification whenever I get a message or someone I subbed to uploaded, hell it even scared some of my teachers lol. Aside from that,I had a hell of a time playing this game’s stadium mode, but never got the chance to unlock the mewtwo fight considering the cartridge was lost. Once I do get another cartridge,I’m gonna have to get myself a game boy color as well as red/blue. To make the grind easier for me(let alone having to do a repeat with the GBA games plus the add ons with Colosseum & Gale of darkness hoo boy that’s gonna cost an arm & leg).
Answering the title:Yes, i kinda remember my team, it was in pokemon pearl, the team i remember using was:Empoleon, crobat, heracross, garchomp, and the other two i can't remember unfortunately.
I wish I could grow up with games like these, because looking at them they look so cool and the animations look amazing, it gives me such a cozy vibe
Yep, Swampert, Shiftry, Swellow, Groudon, Mightyena and Hariyama
Seeing an old quality of a game from long ago still looks amazing! Keep up to vids man. Bring the memories of the past alive!
3 views in 18 seconds bro fell off
NO ONE CARES
NO ONE ASKED
Growing up like an only child with this game, this was SUCH a throwback! I especially love coming back and seeing just HOW animated the Pokémon and move effects are, it actually makes it feel more like a battle. I always thought about how cool it’d be to see poke battling content from you and the other fellas (I know Eevee’s done some). Early gen 1+2 battling is so different than now, its funny, and having Brent’s sense of humor and editing for it is so GOOD. Don’t worry about the fuzz, it makes it more nostalgic lol. I’d watch a 280p vid from Brent
This takes me back to when a family my family knew had an n64 with pokemon stadium in like 2012. I actually have nostalgia for this game.
This was the definition of nostalgia, especially the fact that you used your original team from childhood. I wish I kept mine from my first three generations… and generation five… I got better at keeping them when I got a DS. I would definitely love to see more of this.
I remember being introduced to Pokemon with this game back in 2013, and I’ve been into Pokémon ever since(Porygon and Jolteon still in my top 5 favorite Pokémon). Thank you so much for the nostalgia Brent🥲(seriously!)
God, this video brought back so many memories! I loved this game so much back in the day! I also loved how the GB tower becomes the Duduo Tower and then the Dudrio tower after certain criteria is met, allowing you to play your Red, Blue & Yellow games at 2x and 3x speed.
I am so here for pokemon content. Going back and revisiting old games is so cool and seeing you play different things than normal has been fun!
My 3ds is bricked because I didn't use it for years but I'm keeping all the games in hopes that one day in the future, I'll be able to look back and see what teenage me was doing and have the same nostalgia hit you do here.
I dont mind the quality and sound of the recording, its authentic and makes the nostalgia stronger.
Would love to see you the gym battles though, i believe theres no limits there too other than the CPU's pokemon level will match your highest.
I am so happy you uploaded this video. This game was my childhood and I loved hearing the announcer go crazy during battles.
Watching this game again. So much Nostalgia just hit me in the head.
The announcer made this game SO HYPED! My childhood right there!
This was a treat for me. I still sneak stadium announcer voicelines into my own videos from time to time. Please do more!
I love seeing brent so happy when playing video games he seemed to be filled with nostolgia
Stadium is amazing. Like you said, it gets praised for animation quality. And for good reason.
Alakazam getting blown back and hovering while still lying down is so funny to me.
Also, I remember having a bunch of fun with the mini-games too.
I think the quality is pretty nostalgic, what better to bring back playing games like these on a crt with like one speaker
Honestly, I love the low quality. So dang retro, in a pretty good way.
Fire game series brings back such nostalgic memories of the cups and the mini games
This is nostalgic as frick i loved it , i remeber the first time i watch a Pokémon use a move was soo cool 10/10 game i would love to see more
DEFINITELY would love to see more of Pokemon Stadium and the Pokemon you used in the original games.
Machamp's MK2 scream got me.
I wouldn't be against seeing more of these in the future and it would be a fun experience to see.
One step closer to Brent making a favorite pokemon tier list
I loved the fact that your pokemon used its move animation and then you find out if you missed or not. It added more suspence
Another great vid with a blast from the past. Also, i'm not sure if stadium fixed it, but if memory serves focus energy is one of the many gen1 bugs and actually halves your crit lol.
YES, A POKEMON STADIUM VIDEO
Would love to see more Stadium videos from you, including trying out the rental Pokemon
Maybe you could even do some Stadium battles with the other Party Crashers!
I really hope we see more of this, because that game and its sequel were my religion as a kid
Oh now this brings me back. I used to play free play in Pokemon Stadium all the time as a child.
Honestly, I'm not entirely sure if id watch your other stadium vids, but i would like to see more of this
The announcer made this game great the energy from his voice even with the limited voice lines would be nice to have it in at least one of the newer games .
Would love to see a 4 player mini game tournament with the gang! I spent ALL of my time playing those mini games!
The amount of times you had Zapdos use thunderbolt is crazy. Sophist would be proud he casted THUNDER SPELL!!!
I don’t remember my exact first team, but I do remember the team I had when I tried to make a full team in Fire Red.
Blastoise, Fearow (switched to Articuno later on), Raichu, Graveller, Hitmonchan and Raticate.
While I don’t remember the movesets off by heart, I do know that I evolved Pikachu too early as I never had Thunderbolt on him, meaning it was likely lv25 when I got it.
Title question, yes, it was a Platinum team composed of:
Empoleon
Haunter (Mindy's to be exact; took that thing all the way to the E4 unevolved out of spite)
Tropius
Porygon
Machamp
Luxray
The quality of the video looked perfectly fine to me. I had zero problems with it.
Can’t wait to see the crazy teams Brent Moose created for the rest of the cups
stadium has the best animations, no question
combined with the over the top announcer that i cant get enough of just makes it so awesome to play
First team I think it consisted of poliwrath butterfree, dugtrio, lapras, alakazam, and charizard.
I loved this game! Seeing this just memory locks everything I loved about this game. I didn’t own a game boy back then so I had to use the rental Pokemon and it was rough yet I beat all the cups. It would be so cool if you did more of this stuff
It's been years ever since I played this game at my cousin's house. Honestly, I would like to see more of this since this is nostalgia for me as well and it's nice to see different games King of skill plays.
bro this was so cool to see. it reminds me of my copy of sonic advance that i'd connect to my gamecube and transfer chao in the chao gardens when i was a kid. i wish i still had my old setup
I would be so down for more of this! My inly critique for games like this is ti have a KOS border for the sides of the screen so it's not just a black abyss
Bringing out your inner Eevee with that Zapdos
You cast THUNDERBOLT
Zapdos: I cast Thunder spell *over and over again*
Would love more of retro game that you played in the past, it'll be interesting to watch
Man, a trip down memory lane. My little brother and i played this game so much when we were younger. I didn't mind the quality all that much, it was really not that bad. Would love to see more, I'm interested in how your teams for the other cups are. As for the question from the title: Remember the first team from Pokémon ruby clearly. Blaziken, pelipper, gardevoir, shiftry, mightyena and minun. I'm still surprised I made it to the end with these.
Man, this just brings me back. My cousins had an n64 with this game, and it was one of the first videogames I ever played. We loved this game but didn't have a gameboy, so we only used rentals, beating mew two was so hype.
While I didn't grow up with Pokemon, watching you play this game and the Paper Mario 64 streams really take me back to when I was watching N64 let's plays as a child... on a time where 360p was the best quality we had lmao,. But I think most people watching would agree that this game's quality wasn't a problem at all! Can't wait to watch more videos like this
And here I thought I was the only being alive with a functional cartridge of this game who can still record footage straight from an N64.
The low quality makes watching the video all the more nostalgic
That defeat means a Pokémon swap! We’re waiting for the next Pokemon! Woah going down! WOW they’re down! They’re both down!
Brent: "wow. This game is so fun"
Zapdos in the background on a pile of electricuted pokemon
Literally
More of this series please! I fucking love Stadium.
My favourite Pokémon game was POKEPARK for the Wii, such fun times
Hey man, we love to encourage and see your passions, or at the very least I do. Please keep pursuing the things you love! Never be afraid of random upload ^u^
ZAPDOS THE GOAT
God I love this game. Round 2 gym leader castle with rentals was the bane of my childhood…. Thanks for the content Brent! Loved it.
This was awesome and the quality enhanced the experience in my opinion as someone who grew up playing the same games!
Bro,i would genuelly see a playrought of brent playing any pokemon game
I always love seeing people playing their childhood games, and the quality of the footage didn’t bother me, in fact it strengthened the feeling. Safe to say I would LOVE if you made more videos on this game, and on just more of your childhood games in general!
And to answer the title:
Kind of. I know it was in Moon (before then I was really only a fan in then “Oh this looks sick” way)
I don’t fully remember my team, and I don’t know where the cartridge is so I can’t check as of now, but I remember my team having:
•Primarina
•Xurkitree
•Kartana
•Golurk
•Palossand
Brent, you would probably like Monster Rancher. The older games had you use things like CDs and DVDs to generate monsters from, and you got the opportunity to pick which stats you leveled as part of the monster's training regimen. You could even fuse monsters together to get a combination of the stats, and some (but not all) even had unique crossbreed models and traits for when you combined them. There's a recent upscaled remaster of the first two on Steam and Switch, but it's missing that CD collecting aspect.
Oh man, the nostalgia hits deep with this game. Think my very first team (I had Pokemon Yellow) was Pikachu, Sandslash, Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Mewtwo. Real creative, I know.
I loved the quality and sound makes it more nostalgic
